@@f_f_f_8142 Eh no, Dumbledore didn't have great political sway within the British Wizardy government, in fact often times he was opposed and labeled as some genius lunatic by most of the Ministry of Magic personnels. He was actually offered the position of Minister of Magic but turned it down for a teaching post and forgoing the pursuit of any political career to further his crusade against Voldermort and the Dark Arts in general.

Keep in mind that they're pretty much immortal. Dumbledore is alive in a picture after his death. Also, ghosts exist. They also have spells and items that extend the lives of wizards.
