I never really thought about the fact that someone would have to sit down and meticulously plan every detail of Hogwarts since it’s not a real castle. Just one of those obvious things I never thought about 😂. Mad kudos to Robbie for doing such a fantastic job on designing the castle of our childhoods, can’t thank him enough for that. 🙏

I so appreciate this upload; I've never seen these particular shots of the original miniature, and they really demystify some of the details. Now my mouth is watering for shots of the cloisters in the original quad, before they were taken out! Publicly available shots of the original castle are a rare treat. Wish we could see more photos from Robbie's book. His whole team really did a marvelous job of bringing Hogwarts to life. [Comment edited to remove reference to Jose Granell - forgot he came on in the second film!]

Good luck with the changes, I especially look forward to your interpretation of the obscure bit between the Chamber of Reception and the Grand Staircase Tower, one which has now been properly revealed!

I once read somewhere that when Chris Columbus was editing the movie, he wanted to shorten the reveal of Hogwarts. But, when he showed the rough cut of the movie to John Williams, Williams went away and came back and used Hedwig's Theme to keep the scene interesting up to the part where the camera is pulled back to reveal the castle. I don't remember where I read it. But, I do remember reading that Chris wanted to shorten it and John was able to keep the scene unedited and as magical as it has been for 20 years. I can't imagine that scene being shorter than it is and I can't imagine that scene without John's wondrous music.

I was in tears the whole time I was in the room. The work that went into this model is just unimaginable. The music that is played in the room adds to the emotion. Definitely.

The first time I went to the studio tour in London I walked in to this with “Harry in Winter” playing over the sound system, it was amazing.

I got to see this model in person in 2019 on the tour in London - it is beyond spectacular! The whole tour is FABULOUS!

I went to the WB studio tour in 2018 and when i saw the model for the first time I was astounded not only by the size, But also the detail and the fact the castle photographed so beautifully from any angle.

He said they don't make models like this anymore - well I say they should. To this day NOTHING, I repeat NOTHING, compares to the films of this era because of their models. This is a prime example of that, and so is Lord of the Rings. Those movies, especially the 2nd and 3rd, still has impeccable effects to this day. If they had been made with computer graphics we'd all be laughing at them now. And, let's just be perfectly honest, we are laughing at that troll, aren't we? It's pretty bad.
