Just wanted you to know at the beginning where you say “ he was showing off as a compliment “ he was smiling so big because his family and friends were in the front row that night locked arms swaying and singing the him. It was a very special moment for him, his first solo out , which was a 6 minute Ballad ( bold choice) and lyrically beautiful... it was wrote from the reference of a mother giving birth and would not make it after delivery and she was expressing all the emotions she would never be able to tell her child. It’s poetically beautiful! I think if you articulate your words better in the video ( like you said in your comments) people won’t come after you so hard😉 Harry fans are loyal and protective! He is the kindest person you would ever meet and after you know his heart it just sends his talent soaring!
Joe S umm just because someone isn’t an older singer doesn’t mean they can’t make good music. obviously someone who’s been around longer had more time to become legendary. but that’s irrelevant to what i commented.
If you come in with this mindset that he is going to be flawless then you are going to be disappointed. I don't know if you sing, at all, but if you don't and just like music, like I do, you can actually appreciate and think to yourself, could I do that? Now if you are just basing your entire thoughts on him on reaction videos, that is a wrong way to go, you should listen to his music by itself, with no one's comments and opinions being thrown at you.
This song was awarded song of the year by Rolling Stone in 2017... In my opinion, Harry has one of the most unique and beautiful vocal tones of any singer today. It's rich, full, and he sings with emotion. He also has a very retro, amazing musical taste, and a knack for great production.
I think his cover of Girl Crush at the BBC was one of his most vocally beautiful performances. He and his band also sounded awesome covering Sledgehammer.
Harry Styles is one of the most talented, creative performers and song writers out there. His vocals are always perfect and his band is always fantastic. He is a very serious musician, writes all of his own music and knows how he wants it to look and sound. As for his clothing, he is a trend setter and people all over the world follow what he wears and copy him. His clothing is mostly created specifically for him by Gucci and he has often been the star of their ad campaigns. He is also an actor and was praised for his performance in the award winning movie, “Dunkirk”. Maybe you are too old and out of contact with what is trending these days. I am 72 and as soon as I saw Harry perform I knew he had that undefinable magic that makes one a superstar! He’s only 26 and he’s already accomplished so much.
The evolution of Harry Styles' vocals is also a great video as it starts at the very beginning, even pre X Factor to today. About the falsetto, he never really used falsetto in One Direction so I think this was new for him and may not have been confident enough to do it solo.
You should check out his performance of “medicine” at St. Paul. There’s no studio version and he only preformed it live. The song is amazing! All his songs are better live when you can see how great of a performer he is.
Harry is always best live to me. He loves performing and it shows through. He gets to play around with the songs and he ad libs quite a bit. This was his first solo single after One Direction. Falling, live from the Brits was amazing.
Damn living in this world is hard! I wouldn't give a 10/10 with the most critical ears but, if you give Harry styles a 7 then I don't know what actually pleases you.
I feel RG has some personal prejudices keeping him from giving Harry full credit. Even when he sounds great , you term as showing off. It’s a shame though because whatever is holding you back probably has very little to do with his music.
"Showing off" was not meant in a bad way at all. It was actually a compliment. He was absolutely performing with confidence. It was effortless and great.
I think after this his next best live vocal performance is his cover of Girl Crush on the BBC. His cover of Sledgehammer on Howard Stern is also very good and the band was killing it as always. He has the same touring band with the exception of his keys player(s).
RGFam Reacts I thought it was damn near perfect - you gotta give some reasoning why it’s not higher than an 8.5😂😂 I didn’t hear you give any explanation, that’s all
@@anishabhisey3939 No doubt it's a great performance. His vocals were perfect, very impressive. Only reason I didn't give it a 9 or a 10 is I can think of other live performances that I've enjoyed more. That have given me goosebumps, because of the passion or raw emotion being exhibited, that can take a performance over the top. For example, if you check out Pearl Jam's Black Unplugged video, which we did a reaction to. One could easily say Harry Styles voice and vocal ability is technically superior to that of Eddie Vedder's. On a technical level, I would probably agree with that. But I consider that specific performance of Black to be better than this Harry Styles performance, because of the absolute raw emotion and vulnerability Eddie exudes in this song, especially in the last 45 seconds, where he is actually ad libbing that entire part. It's so emotional it takes it to a 10, in my eyes. You can literally feel his soul. It's all subjective. Thanks for watching. I like having these conversations. -RG
yessss please react to one direction, would recommend “Best song ever” music video, “Story of my life” music video (both from their 3rd album. “Steal my girl” music video- 4th album or “History”- their 5th and last album. If you like any of these songs they have AMAZING live performances of ALL their songs so you should check them out for sure.
He’s a talented singer, the girls singing in the background is part of his band. I personally think it sounds good, he can definitely sing falsetto amazing. I don’t think the girls are covering him... I’d like to see you do better before saying this song is too easy for him and he’s showing off
Saying that it was easy was a very high compliment. It's NOT easy to be that good, but he was doing it effortlessly. As a singer, everyone has a sweet spot in their range, where they are most comfortable. During that part I was referring to, you could tell that it was just effortless and he was having fun with it and completely confident. He knew how good he sounded at that moment. Nothing wrong with that at all. Like I said, it was a high compliment. Thanks for watching. -RG
RGFam Reacts I wasn’t trying to say that you were not complimenting him, I was just saying the way you described your reaction sort of came off as mocking him, as you said this song wasn’t the best he could do, when in fact this song was one of his best songs and I think he worked very hard on this performance. Np, I get what your saying now.
Yo should definitely react to “13 times Harry styles’ vocals had me shook.” its a compilation of some of his best vocals throughout 1D and his solo career. I think it’s the best way to get a sense of his vocal range and skill all tied up in a small convenient package.
i am me I’ve never seen anyone else share this opinion but I’m sure your right, you can’t be the only one. Regardless, just like your entitled to form your independent opinion on this, he is too so I think it’s his place to watch it for himself and decide whether he likes it or not.
If you’re going to react to One Direction react to songs from their last album Made In the AM. Their first albums were written for them and are very poppy (they’re still very good). The third, fourth and fifth albums have more and more rock and alternative elements/influences that I think you would like. My favorite 1D songs are Walking in the Wind, If I Could Fly and What a Feeling and my favorite music video is Best Song Ever :)
You should treat this group of people as a band, not as just solo artist with back vocalists and musicians. They've been with him for 4 years now with a small update, the keybordist was replacedafter his first tour and there was additional multi-instrumntalist and vocalist added to the band, she's amazing, gives the second album era very distinctive sound. So yeah, you can call it Harry Styles and the band. You said earlier that you struggle to figure out his sound. Well, extensive female back vocals are part of it, as well as classic rock-n-roll instruments, strong base lines, repetitive lyrics with different kind of vibe throughout the song. I never noticed that it's not as eloquent but it still gets you emotionally. Everything is recorded with live instruments with minimun synth and post-production (a little more more in Fine Line tho). Makes it easy to replicate live and they always sound even better live. He's a touring artist, as far as I know his tours are pretty massive and live shows are mostly sold out. Some can say it's the 1D legacy and they're right but the audience demographics is different, more universal that just young female fans)) The rest of this artist is still being formed, the dude just has 2 albums and is 27 years old. He's 23 in this video, which I was shocked to know btw, cuz this song has timeless quality to it. The way he performed it, he could be 50 for all I know.
Thanks for your reaction. In the recording it's my understanding he did all the vocals, so he did the lead as well as the back up falsetto. In the live versions he uses his band (same band mostly, but has switched out the keyboardist for a couple new musicians for his Fine Line era).
We might end up doing that. I'm slightly curious. My only concern is that I've never liked "Sledgehammer". The video was cool when I was a kid, but it was one of those songs that got played so much at the time, it drove me crazy.
When you talked about the veins in his neck popping out, check out 14 times Zayne Malick's (another 1D member) vocals had me shook. He has some serious veins popping out of his neck, it's crazy!
Tbh I’ve watched a few of ur reactions of Harry and I’m curious what u think is a 10. Need an example out of curiosity. but this song is amazing to me. 😊Harry is bringing back good music
Harry is definitely most in his element on stage. He sounds amazing live but he’s also incredibly funny and charismatic, interacts with the crowd, and brings the energy. Check out his performance of Anna live: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oT1B9ytp_ZA.html Or what’s often considered one of his best covers, “Girl crush” at BBC: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rroc2y9if_Q.html If you do one direction try “Drag Me Down”, “History”, or “Story of My Life” Aaaaaand finally, if you want to see more Harry stage presence there’s lots of RU-vid compilations of Harry Best Entertainer moments, etc.
In recorded version he's harmonizing with himself, those are few tracks of his voice you hear. Only lead guitarist is involved in the recording process, the rest join on lives.
@Archie Smith, nope! It's an amazing performance but can you imagine what he would say about what he's wearing? I think he will soon see that Harry is very bold and playful in terms of his clothing and it is all part of his showmanship, just like with Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Prince, Elton John... But I think for him, the outfit will detract from the performance, unfortunately.
Hey you're back, I see the kid got a haircut nice. Why do I feel the nervousness whenever you start a Harry Styles reaction , lol good luck. Ok now about the reaction: He had female backup singers because on the studio version his voice is double or triple layered on that part, so he and the backup singers are trying to recreate that effect Great reaction is glad to have you back. I'd suggest you check out his sledgehammer cover or his girl crush cover they're both live. That is his band although they got 2 replacement keyboardists / backup vocalists ( Ny Oh & Charlotte Clark) in 2019 for the old one Clare Uchima. I like the way he dresses but _whispers_ , -I don't like the way his pants look in this one either-
After hearing the original, I see why they had the female backup vox in the live performance. But I do think they could have put them back in the mix, but live sound is a tricky thing. I'm not holding it against anyone. LOL, I was wondering if anyone was actually going to watch the video all the way through and hear the pants comment. Thanks for watching it all the way through:) -RG
Well here we go I'm here to see you turn into 1d fans and by that I mean all the 5 boys give everyone of them the chance amaze you and follow what the fans says in the comments about suggestions try to go from ballads to up beat and everything
After my brother introduced me to his FineLine album at the start of this year I was blown away! Hes a very unique artist and in his own lane, I hope you will check out more live versions, Id advise you check out "Kiwi Kiwi Kiwi" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oyPCuZ-dKDY.html
