Nice house up the hill from you. My spring weekends when I was a teenager were spent cleaning out bees that didn't overwinter, I can still remember the smell. (My father and grandfather had 2,100 colonies when I was a kid.)

It's a shame about the hive but fantastic that you've got a badger set. You'll have to get one of them motion-sensing night vision cameras to see them doing their badgering. Also, Shaun, where'd you get your hat from? It's a beanie to behold! Lovely highland colours. Also also, "a radio host or a fudge packer"; you just made me pebbledash my iPad with rice! 😂😂😂 I've got to stop watching you two with my meals!

Your set up is fantastic for chickens, they look really healthy and well looked after. Shauns engineering skills look superb.😁 Its great having inner and outer runs for full control. Your ground seems perfect for livestock. I struggled with a few chicken breeds on heavy and wet clay. And as such i really struggled with Pekins or Silkies. You are lucky with stony ground. Chickens don't like sleeping on the floor of their compartment. They have a natural instinct to roost together as high as they can and their claws lock around perches when asleep. I noticed few times the snow on the roof had melted above them, such was the rising warmth. They are quite funny. They push and jostle each other to get in the same order every night. And buy Shaun an incubator for his birthday ! He could be a daddy soon. 😀 I hatched many fertile eggs bought from Ebay. Including ducks 🙂

The snow is beautiful, but having prolonged freezing temps is debilitating. Sorry to hear about the loss of your poor bees; I have learned they are delicate little creatures from watching your channel. The chickens are looking lovely, fat & happy! Had a laugh at your golden shower and the fudge packing and the 🚽 sounds from an upset tummy whilst eating my home made burger with fried onions, salad and chips which were fried in beef dripping. You really are silly boys!!! Anyway here in the North West there was a foot of snow. The weather was good today though and a lot of it thawed but now the temperature is way below freezing. Glad your lovely chickens are keeping well and those beautiful need and all the animals. I think the Spring will spring in the next five days. I hope so. My chicken run goes down 3 sides of my veggie patch with the fourth side also fenced off and with a couple of access gates. Their coop/nesting box is at one corner and I can rake all the chook-poo goodness straight into the edge of the garden, ready to go onto the compost heap and/or for use in the veggie beds 🙂 I think of it as a moat and the chickens are like sharks in the moat catching and eating any low flying insects or crawling garden pests 🙂 and they DO 👍🏽like little feathery champions. 🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓 At different times during the year I have them in the veggie patch area so that they can scratch and peck and poop all over it to their little heart’s content. If I have anything still growing in the garden area, I just set up a temporary bit of fencing. That works well about 80% of the time, but there’s always that one rebel in the coop that finds a way into the fenced off leafy greens or whatever it is that they are not supposed to touch. The problem child, the naughty and smart hen. I really appreciate my chicken force field. 🙂🐿🌈❤️

I only have 2 chickens but have found a good idea for the winter is to use a metal dog dish for water. I put it on a cinder block to keep it raised. Turn it upside down and pour water on it and the ice pops right out. Refill. I use the plastic waterer when the freezing temperatures are over. I enjoy your vlogs.

Cold weather pro tip.. have multiple water containers so while one thaws inside, the other can be outside for the chickens 👍
