Featuring Tony Hart, Margot Wilson and Alison Millar.
Part 1: • Hartbeat - Impressions...
Part 2: • Hartbeat - Impressions...
Part 3: • Hartbeat - Impressions...
Tony makes a plate out of clay, and decorates it by pressing various household objects into it. He then shows how a layer of dark tan boot polish can give it a nice finish.
Margot visits the Egyptian village at Windsor Safari Park, with some kids from Brimpton Primary School in Berkshire. One of the kids has won a design competition, and he permanently carves his hieroglyphic design into a wall. The other kids carve some temporary patterns into another wall.
Tony presses the top of an electric plug and an old marker pen into a piece of clay, to make a little mouse's head. He makes a cast of the design, using some Plaster of Paris, and then presses the cast into another piece of clay to make a copy of the original design.
Alison looks at an old wooden printing block for inspiration, and then makes her own printing block using cardboard, string and wood. She prints a fish design onto an old T-shirt, using some fabric printing ink.
(In the cartoon where the man puts his hand into the wet cement, look carefully to see Tony Hart's name and handprint on the ground outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard!)
Finally, Tony is inspired by the Impressionist painters, and looks at a couple of paintings by Claude Monet ("Impression, Sunrise" and "The Seine at Giverny, Morning Mists"). He then draws a picture in the Impressionist style using pastels.

I agree about how we don't have presenters like Tony Hart anymore. He was a very talented man and his style of presenting is so much better that the immature kids TV presenters nowadays. Margot was also very good as well and I remember her better that the other younger presenters. I don't think Joanna Kirk was did as many series and I know Alison Millar replaced her. I love Alison's accent - I can't tell which part of Scotland she is from, but her accent is very distinctive.

I didn't realise Alison was Irish, although I can hear her accent more now. I am surprised I made this mistake. Her accent sounds Northern Irish.

Take Hart was before Hart Beat. Tony Hart had co-presented Vision On (which wasn't just an art programme) but Take Hart was the first of his own series. Take Hart only featured Tony and Mr Bennett (as well as Morph of course). For some reason Morph didn't feature as much in later Hart Beat episodes.
