''Like other GLP-1RAs, oral semaglutide is contraindicated in those with personal/family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma, and in those with multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2, as noted in a boxed warning in the prescribing information. Oral semaglutide has not been studied in those with a history of pancreatitis, is not recommended in patients with suspected/confirmed pancreatitis, and is not indicated in type 1 diabetes. When initiating oral semaglutide, gradual dose escalation is recommended to minimize the risk of gastrointestinal adverse events. '' (POSTGRADUATE MEDICINE 2020, VOL. 132, NO. S2, 48-60, SUPPLEMENT: INTRODUCING ORAL SEMAGLUTIDE AND THE PIONEER PROGRAM TO PRIMARY CARE) Please stop promoting fad diets without doing the research first. This took me 2 minutes to find online. It's irresponsible. It was linked to tumours and cancer. Try to do the research first.

God bless you MP and Chris Palmer. I’m one of the ones who’s suffered in hell for 50+ years. I started keto in 2017 and began the long slow journey of weaning off of the drugz after being a zombie for 30+ years. I had to do it alone . The layers of trauma and grief are heavy. Three months ago I was diagnosed with epilepsy. My neurologist (in the Veteran's Administration system) would not recommend a Keto/low carb diet. She actually tried to warn me off of it, saying, "go have a life, eat some ice cream, have an occasional wine." This is fine if you can handle the occasional treat, but I can't. It's not just ignorance in the medical community, it runs much deeper than that.
@iss8504
@iss8504 Год назад
My father was a neurologist. He knew of keto but he said nobody would do it and the system just isn't set up for the support that is needed for some people. Dr. Fung says about a third of the population needs guidance with this, a third can do it themselves with the info and a third won't ever do it. He is offering help for the third who needs it and would otherwise flame out. Changing diet is difficult for everyone, even the motivated. He only used it in children where the parents had control over the diet. When you layer on mental health issues, you can see how adults would have trouble. My dad never saw a lot of longterm success with diet but maybe now with Facebook etc maybe people can get community support.
@jrg4094
@jrg4094 Год назад
The medical "system" is broken and designed to push medication. I worked at a hospital and the RDs laughed off a ketogenic diet as a fad diet. They just don't get it. Not to mention they show that sugar can be addictive as drugs. They wouldn't tell a drug addict to have a little cocaine or whatever drug it is.

My husband was diagnosed around 6 yrs ago, epilepsy seizures are hard & the best advice over the yrs came to us through a nurse not a specialist or doc, she said pay attention to your triggers& environment &try to notice & pickup if u start to feel seizure come on, at the start he did not feel them beforehand at all, but listened to that nurse & learning to read your body& each individual’s “triggers” to seizure is important, for my husband personally it’s his 4 main I call “Goldilocks body sinarios, right food, (as in filling & nutrition) stay hydrated,the right heat, (warm enough) enough sleep ect can all help… BUT no matter how healthy OR what he tried to eat, the epilepsy or the r meds make him hungry & it’s bloated him out & he cannot eat less because of epilepsy hunger & so it’s a very fine line when trying to loose weight to be healthier without bringing on seizures &no way could he do keto diet personally with epilepsy meds making him soo hungry 😢there is a support group on Facebook called epilepsy sucks uk🇬🇧 for anyone &💜 (keep fighting epilepsy warriors defo not enough done for epilepsy these days considering they STILL do not understand it &they admit)I’d love to see stem cell research into epilepsy 😢but then it’s just not profitable for them to cure epilepsy, only to keep pushing hard &dangerous meds for life term 😢😢

Ask him to help you and bring you peace from your depression as he made the following claim , be patient and ask with an honest heart Mathew 11-28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. I struggled with obesity my whole life 30+ years. High blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea, mental health problems and I had gastric bypass my highest weight that we know of was 440 lbs. I will never regret my surgery because it did help but it is not the Cinderella story people tend to think. It’s been 13 years, I got involved in the Keto journey 5-6 years ago and it’s the best thing I have ever done for myself and now I work to help others that can’t necessarily afford the cost that come with the keto life style. I finish school in May and hope to open the first keto shop in my area but as of now I do keto meals and snacks for others. I want to HELP others not necessarily make money. This is my dream for others to enjoy the lifestyle and realize it’s possible to live healthy, eat healthier and still enjoy good foods!

My mother was schizo-effective. She died at 60. She was obese. She could go long periods of time without meds if she was not stressed, but would eventually have an episode/break. She was functionally normal until her late 30s until she just broke under stress. Now that I know about keto and am carnivore, it just popped into my mind how she would crave fatty meat. She had no teeth, but she would just gum it and suck on the fat. She probably would have eaten nothing else if she had known. Kinda pisses me off to think about our drug focused system and how long this information has been known and rejected.

I’d drink black coffee, water during my fasting times. I lost weight, had 100% energy, my depression and and anxiety was the lowest it had been for I’d say 7 years at the time. Intermittent fasting has transformed my well-being, providing me with increased energy, heightened mental clarity and improved exercise performance. Combining it with a ketogenic diet enhances the effects, and the benefits are numerous. I have observed a significant reduction in anxiety and depression symptoms, compared to my previous diet that included constant snacking. By consistently fasting for periods of 12-36 hours, tailored to my lifestyle, I am able to attain maximum results. My most successful approach has been to delay my first meal until at least 12pm and sometimes as late as 4-6pm, consuming only a single meal and a snack or two. Once in a while, I take full days off from eating for deeper cleansing and reaching more powerful ketosis, which provides benefits that last for days after.

I'm an ex medical scientist mainly specialising in nutrition and surrounding subjects, but I started out studying psychopharmacology and then neurology. Paleodietetics, is one of my sidelines too. I have a laundry list of neurological issues, gastrointestinal issues, autoimmune issues, recurrent injury issues, etc... that diet has had a massive impact on. Keto, carnivore, lion, and that whole group of diets are a big part of my focus outside of my day job. They would be a big part of my day job if I could get people to take it seriously, but unfortunately the more I give people reason to think I'm nuts the less I can actually do my job which involves talking directly to the people who pay me. I'm particularly interested in things like autism and their link to diet. I believe there's documented incidents of nonverbal people becoming verbal, talking to their mother for the first time, being able to articulate why X thing makes them scream uncontrollably, by just changing their diet. Also I've been working on a hypothesis that autism, epilepsy and PTSD are linked in ways we don't know about. Through working with people who have each, I've noticed SO MANY overlapping issues... some things people do in the midst of a mortar shower having no training or understanding of what to expect almost exactly mimic a severely autistic child being thrust into a nursery play area. It's astonishing when you look at it.

I just went back on keto after having my fourth son and the holidays were over. The changes it gives me every time I start eating this way blow my mind. I’m a personal trainer and health coach. I know diet is different for everyone but I think it would benefit the majority of the population to at least try keto the right way.

I have been a vegetarian since I was born. I am from India where a lot of food we get is sourced from near by farms. I had never faced any such issues. But the moment I moved to US I had radical shift in mental health and weight. I had to control a lot more in terms of diet. I don't think keto is diet for majority of people. and many of the people needing it would need it because of the fact that they are based in US and the food produced here isn't up to the mark. Saying it fit majority of people is ignorant. On one end you say it depends from person to person and then you say it would fit majority of people. I could also say, it would fit majority of people in the west, coz every food produced here is messed up.

KETO rescued me from like 20 health problems big & small. I WAS also angry right after I was so excited that I made it to the livingroom without limping in the morning for almost 15 years of Plantar fasciitis that got so bad by 2019 that I needed help from family or crutches to get up into my feet. After 3 days off carbs I didn't need help. After 3 weeks off carbs the pain STOPPED!!! I also didn't need to start insulin injections for T2 diabetes, avoided a hysterectomy and probably a mastectomy too, so much pain for so long I worried about breast cancer & ovarian/cervical cancer. I was anemic from years of period hemorrhaging. That ended quickly. I was so fatigued that I couldn't even hardly hang the laundry up out of the dryer. I felt so out of breath all the time. I couldn't hardly sit back in a chair or sleep bcz of kidney pain. My heart hurt so much and would pound rapidly often so I thought I was really going to die soon at only 48. I was almost home bound from severe digestive problems and pain and fatigue. My skin hurt so bad, neck pain & stiffness, rash on my face, so many other symptoms too. Now I know that there are no essential carbohydrates. I don't trust chemo and didn't want to take a dozen rest-of-life prescription meds, so I looked up "heal diabetes naturally" and found the Beat Diabetes RU-vid channel, and Dr Sten Ekberg, later Dr Jason Fung and Dr Eric Berg, Low Carb Down Under, Serious KETO, BOOKS: Cancer As A Metabolic Disease, The Cancer Code, The Diabetes Code, The Obesity Code, What the Fat?, Metabolical, & DEATH BY FOOD PYRAMID!

This video comes right on time. It answers many of my questions as a doctor, but also as someone who went through depression and was medicated, it indeed helped me through some dark times but I saw many alarming side effects come into my life (including weight gain). I finished the treatment, and went back to a healthy and balanced diet, and just yesterday I was telling my friend how this is impacting my mental health in a positive, happy and productive way. Thank you for this video! It's priceless ❤️

I am so thankful you put out this video! I was on anxiety meds for about a year and I truly believe it did more harm than good. It got to the point where I felt nothing and it was dumbing me down. I gained weight and was very unhappy. I stopped taking the meds, and it took me nearly a year to feel like my old self. I changed my diet and started working out. It was the best thing for my health. I eat mostly lean meats and vegetables, cut out processed foods and excessive sugars. I feel SO much better. Food is medicine and sometimes it's a better option than taking a pill. God bless you and Dr. Palmer!

Suffering from lifelong depressions I have adapted my diet to improve my mental stability over the decades. I found that the caveman diet (keto diet) offers the best results. More radically, I experimented on myself with fasting as a potential remedy for clinical depressions. Several times I have fasted for two weeks straight while keeping careful track of my overall mental health twice a day. The results were so promising that I contacted a university and wrote up a proposal for a clinical trail were a group of mental health patients could be monitored while fasting in a secure medical setting. The proposal was rejected outright. The actual reason for that rejection is quite interesting - The university is obliged to secure half the funding for such clinical trails from external partners (who are usually close to Big Pharma) and any money from those sources would never be forthcoming in my specific proposal. The changes of this trail ever being given a go ahead under the present circumstances in Dutch academia are slim as the cost would be substantial. But I have not given up hope yet.

Ask him to help you and bring you peace from your depression as he made the following claim , be patient and ask with an honest heart Mathew 11-28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Children have been targeted for years to use anti depressants and I see the ineffectiveness of using them. Yes… people get worse on meds! Parents need alternatives to meds and they need to know that they must stay with a keto program long enough to make the difference. The magic is in allowing your body heal itself and giving it what it needs to do so.

I'm 65. I work at a Calif college. I first heard about Jordan Peterson when a student told me in 2016 I was like a female Jordan Peterson. I learned about him and heard that his entire family went carnivore. I have struggled my entire life with cold hard depression. I have been on numerous meds but weaned myself off of them. I just spent the past 5 years going through horrible physical illnesses, nearly dying and incredible mind blowing pain. In desperation I went keto and then full carnivore; I NEVER anticipated my anxiety and depression would be lifted. My only grandchild and her other grandmother, my best friend both died this past year. My grown daughter has alienated herself from me, blaming me for my grandaughters death. My grown son is a full blown ragaholic. Yet for the first time I'm healthy and not in a deep dark depression. I truely believe my grandaughter and sister in law would be alive if they had been weaned off psych meds and gone carnivore. I truely believe my son would be cured if he were to be keto or carnivore. I've decided to retire from the college and walk away from all the political insanity. I'm relieved and grateful to be alive. I cant force my son and daughter to stop eating all the processed crap foods and suger but that must be a decision only they can make.

When I go Keto or Keto+IF I lose weight, feel mentally crisp and sharp, emotionally more level less moody, and have no fatigue. I've been weeks into deep Ketosis before going in for the annual physical and blood work, and everything comes back a-ok. Then when I mention Keto and IF, everyone in the medical community cringes, frowns, and goes into the mainstream narrative. GREAT discussion and guest Mikhaila. Thank you!

I listened to this a few days ago and started listening to Dr. Palmer’s book on audible as well. This has been the most significant shift in my mental health journey since I was diagnosed with depression at age 13 (I’m now 29). Meds help but I’ve still had depressive episodes. The only thing that helped was the keto diet, but I quit it in 2020 and soon found myself needing my med dosage increased and new meds added (I also have anxiety and OCD). I recently decided to start keto/carnivore again, but was very reluctant, because who wants to be that weird person “on a diet” at social gatherings? Listening to this podcast gave me the determination to stick out it out because it’s not just anecdotal, there’s science to back it up. Looking forward to my next appointment with my psychiatrist in June and hoping that by then I will have improved enough to be able to talk about lowering dosages or getting off meds. Sent this to three friends already and think everyone with a mental illness NEEDS to listen to this episode, and probably read Brain Energy as well.

I have to say thank you for this video and thanks for all you do. I have Schizoaffective disorder and around this time last year I had found your content talking about the carnivore diet, I had heard you mention it before (I think on timcast) and thought it was interesting but didn't pay much attention, then I watch you talking about it on I believe Joe Rogan, on that show you mentioned that it had helped you dad's psoriasis and also that it had help you mental health issues, this stuck out to me as I have psoriasis myself but had never been told it was an autoimmune disorder. I decided to try the diet and fairly quickly (can't remember the exact time line) felt amazing, back to like I felt in my 20's (it was in my 20's that I got ill and I am now in my 40's). As well as fairly strictly sticking to carnivore (I did add dairy and some honey, as well as spices) I also was intermittent fasting having an 8 hour window to eat. As I said I felt amazing and was working towards going back to work (I had not worked since 2007). Unfortunately I fell off the diet a bit, which I know sounds silly as all the good it was doing, it started in the summer as I had not made any of the ice cream I was making and I got some store bought ones which of course loaded with sugar, this lead to me having sugar again and going back to not great, still much better than I was the year before but no where near as good as whilst on the diet, I am mostly eating meat which I think is why I am not as bad but I do need to get back on the diet properly. I had thought all this was because I had an underlying autoimmune disorder causing my mental health issues, I came to this conclusion not just because of my psoriasis but also because there is a family history of lupus with my nan dying from it, my mum could of had it as well but she died in her 20's when I was little and I don't have a way of finding out if that is the case. Seeing this video and finding out its probably not an underlying autoimmune disorder but the diet is actually directly treating my mental health is amazing, and know it has results with my exact disorder is also amazing. Whilst I am not fully on the diet atm and not feeling as good as I did in the summer, the one thing you having given me through your content and me trying it last year, is the knowledge that it is possible for me to have a life again, and whilst it is still a work in progress, there aren't words to express my gratitude for that, thank you!
