The annual regatta between Yale and Harvard, the oldest rivalry in American college sports, has been taking place on the Thames River since 1878. Each team has a permanent facility in Gales Ferry that makes the experience of this tradition more memorable. The annual regatta between Yale and Harvard, the oldest rivalry in American college sports, has been taking place on the Thames River since 1878. Pronunciation is fine but it is NOT the first inter-collegiate athletics contests ever for any university, Unless Oxford and Cambridge don't count as universities!

The Thames River in Connecticut is not pronounced the same as the Thames River in England.

"It's the race that they'll remember most when they're through rowing."- Harry Parker That's certainly true for me. Red Top days are my strongest and best memories of college. I'm forever grateful for having a part in it.
