Mine are mostly actually not that tiny, just on the smaller side. Maybe my plant set out it's fruits more gradually... they didn't have to compete as much for nutrition ...? I'm still newer to growing muskmelons, so idk. But I've grown MMs all 3 times, along with a couple other varieties and they were not usually that tiny. They tasted the same to us as the Hale's best, couple other average, also basically modern varieties myself or my friend was growing. I grew MMs due to our short season (some years, not 2022 !) here in nw Wisconsin. Just so folks know, MIGardener has the best price and great quality ( usually even better germination rates than others) and the same amount of seeds as most others. Pinetree was my other go-to, as Baker Creek was too expensive for me, but yes, I think they do good work, and it's great to support them if one can, as also the Seed Saver's Exchange, who has a really unique selection of some things. I just ordered the Petit Gris de Rennes cantaloupe, and the Emerald Gem too, from them. Even those leaving reviews on these agreed with the flavor they're alleged to have ! The reviews were very helpful, apparently many older varieties like the french ones, don't slip from the vine/stem easily when ripe, as so many modern varieties. I highly recommend checking out their website & request a free catalog. Back to Pinetree - they have a pretty thorough selection of herbs, incl. dye plants and tobacco, which I grow for an OG pest repellent. I got the "wild" variety. I put a handful of Tob. in each hole at planting or transplanting time to repel cucumber beetles from being an issue on all my cuke and squash family stuff ( who runs out of zucchini mid summer ?!?! ). Seems to be what's suddenly, totally saving my plants !!! Got the idea from a similar thing in the book "carrots love tomatoes" .

Those look delicious! I definitely want to get some! Here in Georgia we have high humidity this year which has really been making my vegetable plants stagnant and also brings out tons of bugs that eat leaves. I'd assume that Arizona is dry heat rather than humid, so that is probably better.
