Funny story. My father in law had his garlic drying on plywood sheets, after a few days went to check on them. They were gone, but there was string, old nails, and other odd stuff left. A pack rat had stolen all the garlic. Dad found his harvest on the barn roof !!!😉

I love that you are planting sweet potato, especially Beauregard! I come from a little town in New Zealand called Dargaville, they call us the Kumara (Maori word for sweet potato) capital haha I hated them when I lived there but now that I live in Aussie they're not too bad, at least they remind me of home . I planted garlic for the first time this year too! Its so nice being on opposite ends of the world because while you're harvesting, i've just planted lol

As always, your videos make me smile, and inspire me to get out into my garden! I tried gardening veggies this year. What a disaster! I made two raised beds and went for it, knowing that there would be somewhat of a learning curve. In my naivety, (and maybe a little arrogance!) I thought that since I have tremendous success with flower gardening, I probably wouldn't do too bad with my attempt at veggie gardening. Boy, was I wrong! Between the cool, wet weather and my ignorance, its been pretty much a total disaster! I think I made my soil too rich for one. I'm not giving up, however, it's all a learning process and I'm determined to persevere! Absolutely dying for a complete garden tour though. The longer the better! Any chance of that happening soon? Keep up the great work and thank you so much for what you do!

It would be fun to watch what you do with these foods. Cook or give away. Again your editing was fun to watch. Could you imagine how much you could get done if there really was more than one Laura? Lol. Looks like you need Benjamin to get out there to the strawberries. It's fun to watch him run around picking them. I also enjoy watching your family time. Laura, I enjoyed seeing your harvest of garlic and all your other veggies that look amazing! It’s especially impressive, since yesterday afternoon when I got home from work I was super bummed to find a deer had found a way (still not sure where) to get into my yard and had eaten all my young cabbage plants and cauliflower. She ate on my tomatoes and nipped off the rose buds that were ready to bloom. ☹️😣😖😫😩😢 Little does she know that we wait all year for our gardens and flowers to grow and bloom and her eating everything is similar to how we feel after a hail storm when we try to console ourselves by saying, maybe next year...So...I really do enjoy seeing your garden looking stellar!! You’re truly a fine grower of all things. Including children. 🤗 Thanks for cheering me up. As for my crops? I’m going to see which seeds will still have time to mature in zone 4 and get them planted today!

I’d imagine so. You could try and the worst case scenario is that the garlic wouldn’t grow and you’d only be out the few dollars you spent on the sets, best case scenario is you get an entire crop of it. But I’d think that as long as it was buried well and mulched well, and the bags were a bit protected from the worst of the weather, it would work out.

I have never thought about growing garlic or sweet potatoes and now I think I’m going to try them. When we lived in the Bay Area (California) we had the the big huge Garlic Festival down the road in Gilroy so we didn’t need to plant. We lived about an hour away and boy you knew it was garlic or onion time because you could smell it all the time, morning, noon or night. Yes I loved the smell:) Squirrel lol your strawberry plants look great ours didn’t make it:( maybe next year. Thank you for sharing:) I’m learning sooooo much and I’m having a blast planting:) That sunflower made me giggle as I thought of Aaron wanting to go over and pulling it out:) Have a great 4th of July with your family:) Stay safe:)

Great harvest!! I invested in Proven Winners' Garden Treasure, Garden Gem, and the Goodhearted tomato plants this year. They were in excellent condition when they arrived. Even my husband was impressed by their size and condition when we first opened the box. We've been pulling a ton of Goodhearted tomatoes off for weeks, but yesterday we pulled off our first big mater...a softball size Garden Treasure tomato! We were so surprised that the squirrels and the birds left it alone! The squirrels stole nearly every one of our tomatoes last year. And it's crazy, but the other half of our garden, we planted a few store bought tomato slicers that our neighbor actually gave us from Lowe's garden center, and our Proven Winners tomato plants are 5x the size of the tomato slicers! LOVE your videos.

Plant some Marigolds close to their beds. Plants from the Narcissus genus like jonquils and daffodils have a distinct flavor that squirrels can’t stand. They also have poisonous components from bloom to bulb and require little care. The Fritillaria imperialis from the Liliaceae family, also called the Crown imperial or Kaiser’s Crown, acts as a fantastic squirrel repellent. They grow beyond 3 feet in height and emit a musky smell that squirrels hate. Marigolds also have a very pungent smell that detracts squirrels. The crocus tommasinianus, or Snow crocus, will bloom from March through April and send squirrels on their way. Finally, allium, a perennial from the Liliaceae family has an aroma reminiscent of garlic and onions that repels squirrels.

Thank you so much for this video. This is my first year to grow garlic and I was so nervous I was harvesting and storing it wrong. I have watched your other videos about garlic multiple times but this video was reassuring to me. Each time I watch I learn something new! ❤️👍🏼

You have encouraged me to get in the garden. My husband built me some beds. I just need to get a schedule of what needs to be planted when! Thank you so much!

This was very thorough information but I would love to see the process you use to separate the head of garlic and plant after you harvest.

Yay a harvest video!! So so love it! I can still watch and enjoy a LOT if you did a real time harvest and not a fast forwarded one. I watch and re-watch your harvest videos all the time for they are so gratifying

What do you do with all the garlic? Do you sell it? Donate it? How long do they stay fresh in the basement? Also how many sweet potatoes do you get per slip? ❤️ I want to start my garden next year.

Vegetable garden looks incredible! Lots of activity at your house today. Fun to watch not only what you are doing but what is going on in the background.
