Harvesting Iceberg Lettuce - Not all plain Sailing

Hey ho, it's best part heading on towards 30 degrees Celsius in the sun and as much as I missed the heat, I miss the cool now laugh.
Today, I decided to stop looking at my lovely Iceberg lettuce and had a surprise, once I uncovered them.
What exactly happened?
At least all warmth loving plants can now get on and everyone can start dreaming of bumper crops.
Tomorrow is another day and first off, watering plants is on the agenda.

Your lettuce looks fab, lots of jobs to do elaine and agree your cabbages doing fab. Strawberries look lush.

@traceysallotment2506 Thanks Tracey. That's what you get for waiting too late. I think I was admiring the lettuce too long laugh. So we're the critters 😆 Must get the cabbages out and the last of the broccoli 🥦. How's your Kalibos getting on?

@@allotmentjoy I had to do some serious weeding as I could hardly see the soil in my asparagus bed. Hopefully going to the plot tomorrow after my first job to do some watering.😁💪👍👌

Always so much colour in your garden, if you were to suggest 1 or 2 good flowers to have around the veg garden, what would they be? I’ve just sown the other plants I need to try the three sisters planting method, thanks for that suggestion, we’ll see how they get on. 🌽🪴👍

@Petetrenouth Hi Pete. Thanks, youre welcome.😊 I think first off, the easy grower Nasturtium. Catches caterpillars (or a good proportion of them) looks good and can climb or ramble around, filling gaps up and providing shade. Secondly, lots of Marigolds in various sizes and colours. Once you harvest the spent flower heads, you don't really have to buy new. I like a good mix of everything. Height, time in flower, colour and texture. I've got lavender next to my tomatoes, for instance. Elaine 🌱
