Growing Monster Elephant Garlic is both fun and rewarding with an ornamental appeal and lots of yummy cloves to eat!! Elephant Garlic is actually more closely related to leeks than garlic but still has a wonderful taste and storeability. Elephant garlic can be start from cloves or corms with the first year growing only a single bulb and second year producing a flower and clove divisions.
If you would like to grow Monster Elephant Garlic you can order cloves/corms from the bulbs harvested in this video SUPPLY IS LIMITED FCFS py.pl/14JDMKQOroI

I was under the impression that you would get a full bulb in the first year if you plant the cloves, and that it takes two years if you plant the corms.

Very informative. I have elephant garlic I am harvesting soon. I would have not known what the corms were if I had not seen your video first. Thank You

Question: So you said when you received the actual garlic bulb you planted the entire bulb instead of splitting them and planting the individual cloves? The bulbs you harvested... Were they significantly larger then when you originally planted? I have 7 elephant garlic bulbs and want to invest in getting them as large as possible. Thanks for sharing.

Originally I received the bu;lbs intact with the flower stalk and flowers...they were just dug and given to me. I planted them fully intact. After harvesting those I planted the individual cloves in a few inches of compost and they grew nice and large...the key is to make sure they are fed and have moisture without sitting in wet soil.

I can't believe you didn't harvest the scapes before hand

Great thoughts but I plant roughly 400 cloves of Music garlic and enjoy those scapes.... so I leave the elephant garlic alone to enjoy the flowers for both ourselves and the pollinators :)

Yes you can use the seeds. Just be prepared to have low germination rate. And it will take multiple years for a full size Harvest
