Any reason y'all swathed the peas instead of straight cutting? I'm raising peas for the first time next year, and am debating the merits of swathing or taking them standing.
We had to much chicory that was green growing in the field. No way a combine could have handled all that. If you had a field of straight peas you could easily just use a grain table and harvest them standing
@@farmingwithcarp8551 I should have just gone back a video or two and before asking. But thanks for the response. It's great to see other folks trying new things on the farm. I think Rick Clark is struggling with chicory now too.
In Saskatchewan a lot of peas (and pretty much everything else) is swathed. The low spots stay green forever and the hilltops will lose yield whenever a wind comes. Desiccating can take a long time to take effect. It’s also a lot easier on a combine swathing first.
