It's the small things that really get me. The "Ken slapping Birdman across 50 meters" cutaway, Ken casually grabbing his statically levitating mug. This show was so perfect!
One I always think of is when he's pouring something, I think vodka. He pours it, not over his cup, but the liquid goes down, takes a bend and then goes into the cup.
@Cristo Alba It can work and it might still be an alright show, especially if you're not coming in from the old show, but man the old show is hard to beat, the writers and animators were really on a field day when they made that show. Even when Harvey Birdman made a come back, it still wasn't as sharp as the OG series. To be honest though, I just want the Venture Bros back.
@Cristo Alba They're less like that than you think. A lot of the stuff you assume is just stuff they gave the ok to because they didn't care had to fight tooth and nail to actually get run - because Adult Swim was too busy trying to give Mr. Fucking Pickles another season instead.
@@Zekana0 Remember that he bashed Birdman across the face with the mug when Harvey said "oh really....", and then a split second later was at the office door on his way out. The implication being that he LEFT it there floating, and picks it back up when he happens back in. Does it make sense? Hell no. Is it stupid? Hell yes. This is Harvey Birdman, a gloriously stupid show that teeters on the edge of reality and more than that, this is Phil Ken Sebben, the *most* gloriously stupid and reality-teetering character on the show.
@@patricktsao9630 Problem is if you freeze it at the right moment you can see his hand holding the cup when it hits Harvey. Phil Ken Sebben is a reality-warper. One time he exited Harvey's office by walking out the window and proceeded to walk down the wall,
"What was he doing in Algeria?" "Vacationing" "Really with all the Civil War, Kidnapping, and Radical Islam" "They have a Sandals there" that's hilarious
@@burnthetrolls5971 Makes a little more sense then, there was some political upheval in the elections around that time (i think?). I guess it just bothered me because it felt like they'd just picked any random arab nation and automatically assumed it was full of terrorists and death. But then again those were the "mission accomplished" years so it's only to be expected. It's kinda hard being arab in America, as a result of the war, everyone assumes you're some kind of bad guy and there's nothing you can do to change it. It's not even like typical discrimination with stereotypes and social fear associated with it. Like with black communities for instance. At least if you're black in the U.S you get a chance to plead your case, but if you're arab every governement person looks at you weird whenever you try to do routine paperwork. It's even worse now with Trump in charge. But that's got nothing to do with the video though, guess i just wanted to complain a bit...sorry.
@@hakimdaaloul9886 Algeria doing fine? When? I talk to Algerians daily and all agree, Algeria is not doing fine, not even close, hence a ton of their youth is still fleeing to France. Same as always really.
Y'know it's not that the spin-off lacks the presence of Phil and the other Hanna-Barbera characters, but the lack of snappy wit and quick-miss gags which made the original stand out.
Ya sometimes in bird man it felt like the animators put stuff in for people who watch the series too much like a water glass in the middle of a frame for no reason
It seems only CN/AdultSwim can pull off ridiculous moments as Phil slapping Birdman from across the room. With a mug! Also, " _tsk tsk_ " _. . ._ " _rub rub_ ". Ha!
@@holitinne I hope what you're saying is true, as we all know the ghostbusters reboot was so bad that it forced them to abandon the project and continue with a canon ghostbusters 2 sequel so maybe we will get a birdman continuation?
I know it's already in production, but in my dreams, the She-Hulk show would be animated, similar to Harvey Birdman and they'd hire Paget Brewster (Birdgirl's VA) to be Shulkie.
@@ijkxjdc That seems like the sad truth. Call it a reboot bc they used some original characters and didn’t bother to add onto the original plot but rather make their own bc hey, less work for them to rewatch the original they watched at midnight as kids once
I think she is about a decade older in the spin-off. It might just be how she is drawn but if my hunch is right, the aging would explain the weight gain occational lip wringkle.
@@alexirmendoza3600 nah man it just looks mid it’s not as soft looking because when you think about it the 2018 impeachment episode kept the soft style for Judy and it was like 10 years in the special or something so she was like 29 or at least 30
There's no middle ground in modern shows. You either have no characters like this at all or you have one who's maximum creepy all the time but the writers forget to make 'em funny. Two prime examples are modern Cartman in comparison to old Cartman & modern Quagmire in comparison to old Quagmire. And then there's the trainwreck that Ash vs. Evil Dead turned Ash into.
I first saw a adult swim pilot with the title bird girl, ngl I like the pilot ideea and so i went on the internet and oh B O I , this is just funny and all over i looove it
@@earlyman7439 Respectfully, you're nuts. Meredith is Harley Quinn the Animated Series' Poison Ivy-lite. She can't bweeeeeoooooop like the real master.
Wow I didn't know she was in this show. I thought it was a new character for a spin off. Thats amazing that she's been there for 20 years then have her own show including the same voice actress.
