She's just a brilliant and gracious as I remember, growing up. Harvey, HUGE congratulations on scoring this interview and in doing so with so much excellence, as usual.
Harvey you’re fearless! For a fledgling interviewer to take on the challenge of an hour and ten minute interview with Joan Lunden shows an incredible amount of self confidence… but that confidence is well founded in your research and respect for your subject. JL is an icon in the industry. The work ethic and qualities that she spoke about and demonstrated throughout her career are evident in you and your approach to this interview. It was fascinating to watch the interplay between you and her obvious comfort level. And I think all viewers learned so much more about her. This has to have been your best yet! Congratulations!
Good solid work, Mr. Brownstone...from one heavy researcher to another. Joan Lunden's current chapter is not only cumulative, but empowered uniquely. Thanks for shedding light on her history, her today, and her future.
Just wow! What a remarkable woman. You really did your homework Harvey. There is so much to know about Joan Lunden and she is not stopping anytime soon. Fabulous interview.
What an accomplished an delightful person. She came up in a time of misogyny and prejudice against women. Her dedication to her craft enabled her to obtain great success. Wonderful interview
After having watched several of your interviews, Harvey, this interview helped me to put into words your interview style Everything that you said to Joan about her interview style/personality can be said about you. Kindred spirits. Great interview.
Somehow in a time compressed past it feels like I graduated from Rocketship 7 to Good Morning America. I really appreciate this interview with Joan Lunden and same for your interview with the great Rona Barrett. I know he is considerably older, but wish you could interview David Hartman.
Thanks so much for watching these interviews with 2 of my media heroes. We will look into the possibility of getting David Hartman on the show. Thanks for the suggestion!
Well Harvey, this was FANTASTIC! Now, I may be temporarily leaving your videos for a moment, because I'm going to go look and try to find Mrs. Lunden's "Behind Closed Doors", lol ! .... Great stuff as always.
Brandan thank you so much for exploring our inventory of great interviews and watching them. I so appreciate your fun and supportive comments! Keep ‘em coming!!
Joan is such a candid, warm, honest woman, it's so obvious. I grew up in a metro Vancouver municipality and was in grade 10 & 11 in 1980. Mom always had GMA on in the morning when I was getting ready to leave the house (we watched American networks more back then) and it was clear Joan had that empathetic personality, as Harvey noted. You could see it in her eyes and warm smile when she was interviewing the guests and when she had a celebrity guest like Rob Grill you could tell she was a little star-struck herself, as she had liked the Grass Roots growing up. Could you imagine any of the other female anchors interviewing like this - no, not in a million years and of course that's why they are not being interviewed by people like Harvey today. Good for her 'outing' Hartman - I had no idea DH was so egotistical and unfair. I can't seem to edit my user name, but I am male.
I’m so delighted that you enjoyed this interview. It was a great honor to interview Joan, and most generous of her to agree to appear on our show before we became as successful as we are now.
Joan is a gorgeous lady…. I have seen her in my home town. Not talking anything away from her, she would also be given opportunity due to her beauty. Yes very prepared and all the rest but timing is everything. One other thing….please check out the interview by Charlie Gibson with Barbara Eden. It was shameful. Mr. Gibson brought her to tears due to her loss of her son. Charlie was not a great guy many times. The other comments will also support this sentiment. Thank you for your skills….kind words always.
I don’t watch Charlie Gibson. To be honest, I’m so very focused on what I’m doing that I really don’t have time to watch the competition. Actually, given my unique interviewing style, my managers always say I have no competition!!
I cannot watch morning shows any longer……boring. Spewing out their venom not fair and balanced, make that 98% of news shows. I did watch Joan in her day a smart, fair and lovely woman. Judge Harvey you are a refreshing change.
I have spoken of your show and subscribed since finding it on RU-vid. I did watch the Mariette Hartley movie with Jerry and told friends. My late husband was my love for 50 years and good companionship, respect and love cannot fail. I watched them do another interview when promoting the movie. Blessings ❤️
