About Harvey's guest:
Today’s guest, Susan Anton, is a highly popular, multi-talented international star who’s been dazzling audiences for over 4 decades in television, film, theater, recordings and concert venues.
She received a Golden Globe nomination for her very first performance in a feature film, “Golden Girl”, followed by “Spring Fever”, “Cannonball Run 2”, “Lena’s Holiday”, “New Jersey Turnpikes”, “Playing With Fire”, “Painter”, and many more. On television, she’s hosted 2 variety shows, “Presenting Susan Anton”, and “Mel & Susan Together”, co-starring Mel Tillis, earning her a Photoplay Award nomination in 1979 for Favourite Variety Star, and Time Magazine named her one of the most promising faces of 1979.
She’s appeared in hundreds of TV shows and movies over the years including “The Great American Beauty Contest”, “The Girl Who Saved the World”, “Stop Susan Williams”, “Hotel”, “Quantum Leap”, “Baywatch”, “Law & Order: SVU”, “Family Friends”, and many more - not to mention her dozens of appearances on every major awards show, variety show and talk show. On Broadway, she appeared in “Hurlyburly” and “The Will Rogers Follies”, and she’s also starred onstage in “All Shook Up”, “Hairspray”, “They’re Playing Our Song”, and the hilarious comedy, “A Couple-a-White Chicks Sitting Around Talking”.
And for 7 years, she starred in the The Great Radio City Music Hall Spectacular with the legendary Rockettes in Las Vegas. As a recording artist, she had a top 10 country hit with her song “Killing Time”, and a Gold record for her hit, “Foxy”.
She has shared the stage with dozens of legendary entertainers including Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Tom Jones, Lou Rawls, Placido Domingo and many more. And she toured with country super star Kenny Rogers. Our guest is also a successful producer.
She and her husband, director Jeff Lester, have a production company, Big Picture Studios, which has brought us some great award-winning films, including “The Last Real Cowboys”, starring Billy Bob Thornton, and the documentary “Speed of Life”. And if all of that weren’t enough, our guest also hosted a wonderful talk show on Retro TV called “Idol Chat”, which reunited cast members from classic films, TV shows and music.
She has also been a strong supporter of the She Angels Foundation, which consists of a panel of successful business women who finance and mentor female entrepreneurs to launch their unique ideas into the business world.

Judge Harvey you amaze me with your interviews with so many people I knew of when much younger. I met the lovely Susan Anton in the mid 90’s when I flew from New Jersey out to Sacramento, Ca. to visit my cousin who worked with American Cancer Society and they were having a big fundraiser and Susan was one of the hosts. I spoke with Susan and was asked to give her a bouquet of flowers and she is a beautiful woman. Great interview, blessings. ❤

Just found your channel from a YT suggestion. I had wondered what ever became of Susan Anton. And the mention of that song Killing Time- I had totally forgotten about that song. I listened again to it. I'm sure I haven't heard it since then. Terrific singer, actress and person. Subscribed!

Ahh Susan Anton! You can see how genuine and sweet and unassuming she is, a real beauty inside & out. Stayed true to who she is. I got to see her 1994 working for Hertz. I was outside checking cars in with my hand held computer and I look up and in the distance with her back to me was Susan Anton who was going inside. I knew it was her with her tall stature and long blonde hair. Watching the Miss America show of I think 1970 she was one of the 5 finalists and had such grace answering her question. Grace & poise describes her. I really think it was her personality that was so endearing that got her so far in show business.

a very nice/genuine interview of SUSAN ANTON ~ thanks HARVEY BROWNSTONE for interviewing SUSAN & posting YOUR video for everyone to enjoy. in june 1992 i (credited as "jason") was a guest on a episode of SALLY JESSY RAPHAEL in new york. SALLY's producer JILL MULLIKEN BATES pulled the episode together with my suggestion of 'people like me who can not get a natural sun tan' (not even a little hint of one, i'm NOT albino at all, just VERY pale white with blue eyes & i only sun burn). the start of the show had me explaining to SALLY my life of woe not being able to naturally tan & fit in with others who were mostly obsessed with tanning, and that i had tried many "fake tans" like the now very old "QT" lotion that when applied turned me very orange, and of course people were very free in telling me how ridiculous i looked etc,. on stage with me were a group of beautiful overly tan men & women all claiming their life would be 'over' if they couldn't tan, and sitting there with them i realized they were being silly because they were on TV. at the mid point of the show SUSAN ANTON was introduced & came on stage (we had no idea she was there - a total surprise), she sat between me and another of the 7 or so and very eloquently said what she came to say about melanoma & skin cancer and some of the 'fitting in' issues she mentioned with you - i told her during a commercial break that she was saying & explaining exactly everything i felt, but so much better than i could ever hope, she suggested i "just ignore these people" - i still feel great about SUSAN all these years later, now i also feel she was sort of 'sticking up' for me on national TV with a group of silly narcissist's. thanks HARVEY to you & your guest SUSAN ANTON :)

OMG Susan Anton, LOVE her, this will sound crazy but one of my absolute best memories of the late 70's/early 80's are the TV & Radio commercials, and one of my absolute FAVORITES is when Susan Anton sings the Sealy Perfect Sleeper Mattress theme, I literally have listened to it a thousand times on RU-vid as an adult. I’ve always thought if you put Farrah Fawcett and Lynda Carter in a blender you would get the incredible Susan Anton! I completely agree that Susan’s career doesn’t get the notice and praise it deserves. I loved “Golden Girl” as well as her variety series. Her singing voice is powerful, articulate, and distinctive. THANK YOU 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Again, I wish you could’ve gone on another hour! I’ll just have to watch this twice! Fantastic!!!!

Former British actress Caroline Ellis (who quit show biz in 1985 to start a family & later divorced) who played "Joy" the pink butterfly in Sid & Marty Krofft's "The Bugaloos" on NBC Saturday morning from September 1970 till January 1971 has the same birthday as Susan Anton born October 12, 1950!! Caroline lives in Palma de Marrioca, Spain with her daughter Sasha & her husband. The Bugaloos song "For A Friend" on Capitol Records went to # 128 (1 week) on Billboard Bubbling Under The Hot 100 Chart on December 19, 1970 & their only self-titled album did not charted. I do remember the late Mel Tillis & Susan Together short lived variety show (April till May of 1978) back then. Susan did a duet with Fred Knoblock (of 1980 song "Why Not Me?") called "Killin' Time" that went to # 28 (Billboard Hot 100), # 10 (Billboard Country) & # 5 (Adult Contemporary) in January of 1981 & her only charted song.
