Me & my Husband felt the Holy Spirit too, when Joe Ligon would sing & we also feel the Holy Spirit when the Harvey Watkins, Sr.-RIH Sir, Harvey Watkins, Jr. & the Canton Spirituals sing. Joe Ligon was a powerful, Holy Ghost Singer fa the Lord-his voice is known all over the world!!! Another Group we love is Lee Williams & the Spiritual QCs. My Dad taught me, my Sisters & my Brother to sing Quartet & we love it too. God is real & when a person feels the Holy Ghost while a Group is singing, they are powerful-God is workingvtgru them. I praise God fa all the Quartet Singers & all the Gospel Singers everywhere. On this video, Harvey is speaking from experience-he is for real. God Bless & RIH Joe Ligon-we all luv you but God love you best. You are really missed, but God knew you were tired & it was your time to make your transition from earth to heaven. Praise God for Joe Ligon. Luv him & the Ligon Family. God Bless.
Wow Quartet Magazine........this was click bait, but I'm glad that I clicked it. Wasn't a "controversial" message , but there was definitely a "message" that I needed to hear.
The first time I saw the Canton Spirituals sing. Man I'll tell you the truth , I felt like I was in morning service at my church. I grew up on quartet my father was a preacher and singer and I've been to every quartet program that came to my town, Oakland California. The statement and everything else Harvey Jr. said at the funeral was on point, (MY OPINION) that''s why people love Harvey Jr. because he tells it like it is, the truth. and by the way you could see and feel the Holy spirit dwelling in him on this footage O.M.G. pLL stop just quit it, Go on Hervey Jr. the Lord has more for you, and your fans love you all over the world. GOD BLESS. csmf...
There are a lot of good quartets out there but there's nothing like the Mighty Clouds of Joy "drive"!!! Joe never let up and the musicians kept it together...in the pocket!!! Everybody wanted to be like the Clouds...they set a standard!!! Quartets have their own style and stand out for different reasons but the proof was in the pudding and Harvey just told you! He didn't even put himself up there with Joe! No controversy here!!!
I think Harvey was right about what he was said about being a local group!, I think a lot of quartet groups was very offended about what Harvey said about being a local group particularly new groups!, I think Hervey kept it real!, I think a lot of these new quartet groups need to take advice from Harvey Watkins if they want to go somewhere in gospel!
When people can't recognize or understand truth, they will find fault, they will label it something else. For those who who know truth will celebrate and acknowledge it. Everything that is not rooted in the solid foundation of truth will fall, truth will stand.
Nothing controversial, just the flat out truth. You have to know the Word and be deeply rooted in it. Everyone wants to perform but they don't want the preparation that comes with it.
The Clouds were on top a long time, but the Williams Brothers may have topped them when they did I'm Just A Nobody and Sweep Around in the mid 80s. The Winans of course we're the biggest contemporary gospel group.
The Gospel Keynotes were the best Gospel quartet group in the 1970's, and 1980's. The Mighty Clouds of joy were great too, but they had to steal Paul Beasley from the Gospel Keynotes in 1979, because they knew the Keynotes had become bigger than them. They went head to head at a Baptist church in Newark New Jersey in the early 1980's. I remember it well. I was there with my family. The keynotes had Charles McClain who replaced Paul as the group's falsetto singer, and Willie Neal Johnson made Charles McClain sound better than he ever did, and that upset me, because I am a huge Paul Beasley fan, and I was very upset when he joined the Mighty Clouds of joy, but that night the best falsetto singer in gospel music, and probably the world, was second not to Charles McClain, but to Willie Neal Johnson and the Gospel Keynotes, and that's what you get Mighty Clouds of joy for stealing Paul Beasley from the Gospel Keynotes. I am just so glad that Paul Beasley returned to the Gospel Keynotes to sing with Willie Neal Johnson before he past on, and I got a chance to see it at Charity Baptist church in Brooklyn New York, and Paul Beasley is Performing with the Gospel Keynotes to this day. Amen! God always will set things straight in the end.
Im a huuuuge keynotes fan ! Self proclaimed biggest! In my opinion they were the best, yet sales and popularity would determine the Clouds as more commercially successful , Paul left on his own , that hurt willie , i love charles grew up on Robert but no falsetto will ever be as great as Beasley! No lead as dynamic as the country boy! I love all quartet style music ! Clouds, violinaires, jubes, cants, soul searchers and stirrers , banks, ellison, qc’s to name a few lets honor the gift to us they all have been ! Im sure each of us has a fav;) all glory tho belongs to God!!
He said if you haven't been to the Stellar Awards & some other big venues, you are just a local group. I think that's why they calling this controversy
You're right. Just another "Holy Ghost" LIE to get views on this video. What it got from me is a hearty THUMBS DOWN! I can't stand a lying ass and so-called "christian" (lc intentional).
