@@demz3514 I don't think this individual knows what they're talking about. R5C can do RAW footage, then clog is not an issue. They've crippled this camera otherwise the competition is even smaller in r5c's favour. It's basic sales technique.
I'm a bit bummed that my R5 has better autofocus than my R5c. I was really hoping for an R5 that could record audio at 120fps. If they don't enable CLog 2 on the cinema camera, that's a bit of a letdown.
Thank you for your thoughts. 2-3 things they could introduce with future updates before the 2.0.0.0 - the same AF functionality of R5, S&F record mode with sound and of course CLog 2.

@@DeafDirector I own an R5C since launch by the way. It records Audio separately and you have to have 2 cards for that. They could in all honesty have it now as one and that is achievable with a firmware update as well without a need of extra 2 new chips inside.
I'm at the point of selling my R5C. To be honest, I've been at the point of selling it since the moment I got it. I barely even use it. I feel each update makes me want to try and keep using it / holding onto it but I just cant seem to enjoy this camera. With the R5 MK II arriving shortly, I feel that I will enjoy that far more. The lack of tracking in S & F mode really does my head in, not to mention the battery life / lack of smart hot shoe function in photo mode, terrible battery life, etc. This camera does my head in. The only reason I haven't sold it as I have been holding out for an update that will cure the autofocus tracking issue in S & Q. Its time for a C400 and to sell this little guy.
I glad it’s not only me that feels this way, totally agree. The R5C has been a constant pain in my a***. Such a missed opportunity from Cannon. I’d like to replace my C300mk3 and R5C with a C400/R5ii combo but the C400 has worse dynamic range than the C300 and mini XLRs so it’s a hard pass from me. Seriously considering giving up on Canon and selling my C200 and R3 as well. It seems like they just can’t help themselves.
If they left the video options in the photo OS mode, I would not use the video OS mode at all. Worst no bluetooth, no WiFi and no access to the CF... what???
Yeah coming from the R before the fact I couldn't use the dial for ANYTHING was just plain stupid and like you said the most glaring example they didn't optimize it for the R5c.
So much great content on your page about the R5C u have a new subscriber. 👍🏽. Hope to get one instead of the FX3. But waiting to see real world/life reviews on R5ii and not listen to the Canon ambassadors.
Lack of blue tooth and wireless in video sounds like it's because of the same battery issues. But not being able to use the back dial in video mode, which I didn't know about till now, just further solidifies the thought that Canon does things like that on purpose as a way to manipulate in brand competition. You don't want to believe they would have people working in these kind of positions that just wouldn't think about making the camera that way. If Canon started selling milk, they might first put out gallon jugs without a top to them. Just a sealed plastic capsule that doesn't even have a handle.
I’ve heard it has something to do with the sensor only having like 14 stops of dynamic range (C.Log 2 would be better served with more). I’m not an electrical engineer or photography expert though, I’m just an industrial mechanic, so, please do take all of that with a pinch of doubt. Personally, I only do this kind of stuff at the hobby level (quite the expensive hobby, but it involves less paperwork than guns or cars) so I just develop raw as C.Log 2 and the LUTs for that curve which I can find on forums and public FTPs seem to work fine for me. It’s not C.Log 2 proper, but it is certifiably “good enough for government work”.
@@bakonfreek So why when they announced the R5 they said it has 16 stops of dynamic range which later after Gerald Undone got a hold of it the R5 was coming in at 11.5 stops.
Marketing? It’s not at all unheard of for products to have *nearly* fraudulent specs listed on the paperwork that are achievable under very specific circumstances (I mean, have you SEEN the power tool market? “1,400 ft-lbs” of make-believe “nut-busting torque” comes out to something around about 1,100 or less when stuck on one of those field effect sensors in real life). You should take a look at air compressors. All of them list sCFM, none actually say it’s sCFM so your brain thinks that’s the delivered CFM.
Could you please help me with the following issue: my Canon R5C camera shuts down during video recording, the LCD screen goes dark, and the viewfinder also goes dark. When I switch the power to "OFF", the camera does not turn off. I have to remove the battery and reinsert it, after which the camera works for a while and then freezes again. This is very frustrating. What should I do in this situation?
That sounds like a battery and power issue. I have never personally encountered this issue on the R5C. I would recommend trying different batteries, or if possible mounting a V-Mount and powering the camera through the USB-C port. Hopefully that can fix the problem for you. Good luck!
I do a lot of VR and since I upgraded, I get a halo effect on the image. Canon need to fix this ASAP! VR content is useless now. We can't even downgrade.
If you want more subs, don't make videos with 'maybes and coulds'. Just be straight with people. The minute a video starts to speculate I lose interest.
