LDU doesnt even mention in the votes yet he had 35 disp, 9 clearances and kicked 1.1 boak had 24 disp 1 clearance and kicked 0 and hes gets 7 votes??

Totally agree, he's become a top line burst inside/outside player. Seen him play a few times this year, he was particularly good against the Pies when they let up a huge lead and lost. He was the only one pulling his team mates along that day, which was telling.

Clarkson had Luke hodge pick 1 Roughead pick 2 Franklin pick 5 Jordan Lewis pick 7, Sam Mitchell, Shawn Burgoyne, Cyril Rioli, Brad Sewell etc etc was he really the messiah coach or was that group just that good? May not win a game with this kangaroos list in 2024. Still reckon no coach is worth a million bucks, much more important to spread the cap and have more assistants to speed up player development.

@@worker-wf2em we'll never know will we. Google Hawthorns 2005 playing list. A lot more mature players on that list. Clarkson hasn't turned NM into a basket case, he's walked into one. I don't know why people are going after him. When did Clarkson claim to be the master list builder? He's put his legacy on the line to help out the club he once played for, knowing they have a very poor list. Good luck to him and NM.

@Burningthunder90 toughen up? WTF? I don't go for North or Hawthorn. It's my opinion "mate" that NM is a basket case on and off the field. They have very average experienced players, other than Simpkin, Larkey and LDU, and they have a lot of young players. They lost Goldstein and Ben McKay last year. It's going to take time to get a group of kids playing well. Didn't we learn that from GWS and GC? Don't blame Clarkson for getting hired at his asking price. That's on the board, not him. They didn't have to hire him did they? People are so quick to go after the guy, yet this is far from his fault. Is that you Kane?

@Burningthunder90 he didn't ask for "more money", he was asking his price and North agreed to that, which they didn't have to do as their board made the decision to hire him. So if Clarkson gets paid more than Hardwick he should be getting better results? That's I'd!otic 😂 "Lost" "let go", same thing kid, stop playing semantics. "Got that wrong as well"? It's your opinion that my opinion is wrong.

JHF was never winning a premiership at North. Having said that, he’ll never win one at Port either

I wouldn't be too sure about that. It seems speculative under Hinkley however, Port does have a solid list and some good young talent, like Lord - who's yet to return from injury. I wouldn't be surprised if Port win a premiership in the next few years.

It's just sad now for North fans and members. It's painful to see the team you support, struggle. You live with the hope that one-day soon improvement will come, and it's so hard to see when that will happen for North. I hope North can turn the corner soon.

They weren't "superstars" when he got there. Franklin and Roughead hadn't even played a game until he got there. Remember they let Buddy walk and still won another 3 flags. Bought in Silk, Brian Lake and Josh Gibson through free agency.

Clarko didn't inherit a list of stars at the Hawks. He helped create them. Also, footy clubs, like any business, are not a one person affair. To create a culture of high performance, everyone needs to be pulling their weight and be capable. However, great leaders, like Clarko, can be the harbinger for positive change - which means blood, sweat and tears.

@@wwetitantronman I completely agree with what you are saying here. He can obviously develop young talent though. It'll take time, but he'll get it done, NM will give him time. Imagine they somehow keep JHF and then tank the GC game for Harley Reid😲

That was a long time ago, he was part of bringing them to the club.. but it's been a very long time since he built a team with young kids, he has been bringing in mature age recruits for years now, plugging holes, look at his last 5 years at Hawthorn

North, if they don’t win a game this season, will equal the worst 100 game stretch in VFL/AFL history (12-88), that’s how bad this football club is. An impediment on the competition. No more handouts for this rabble.

North need to employ the Saint Kilda defense. Stay competitive and you may be able to have a lucky game where someone goes off in the forward half and kicks a wining score for you.

maybe North are doing what they should have done last year throw the last game and get the number 1 pick one year too late! Took them years to get over the Carey saga, then the veteran clean out, employed coaches that didnt fit JHF walks Clarkson had his issues missed the opportunity to get Reid, throw in Thomas as well. McKay and Logue would have been their tall defenders one does an ACL the other leaves. Now it will be Zurhar and then LDU long road back

Sorry it doesn't start in defence. It starts in the midfield. You have to build your midfield. If you don't build your midfield. I don't care how good your defence is. West Coast had the best defence in the league for probably five years but because the midfield was no good the ball just comes in hot and you're gonna get beaten. You have to build your midfield Kane. It's nothing to do with defence at all. It's actually midfield and creating pressure so that when the ball does come into your defence it comes in with a bit of heat

North's midfield is absolutely stacked unlike those Eagles teams you are referring to. It is quite simply about finding the balance and the right mix which is what their former Coach has managed to do superbly with a mostly small-medium sized Bombers midfield. So no it is pretty much entirely the defence and if they are genuielly serious about getting better then they will be priotising defenders in free agency and the draft.

⁠⁠⁠@@taliamason7986our midfield isn’t stacked they get belted every week completely overhyped and lost likely what would’ve been our best 2 player s TT and JHF. If you closely watch our games our defence actually competes well while our midfield is applying an acceptable amount of pressure but as soon as that drops off normally at the end of quarters or after half time the defence is over exposed. 100% need to add to the defence but atm with the way the mids and fwds are playing/ defending we could have the best defence in the comp and still be losing most games

We are sh_thouse. Players don't care, we should be demoted to the VFL and provide our best players to Tasmania. Some boys elite private schools have better facilities compared to our sheds
