Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington discuss whether fame has changed Karl since the success of An Idiot Abroad. Like us on Facebook at / itn and follow us on Twitter at / theshowbiz411 Test
@@Jessebella1 ...yeah, but he didn't Jesse. He's literally got his own TV show RIGHT NOW. One that started like 2-3 years ago. He tried retiring, and then wanted to do another TV show...and he's back.
Ricky does more that just An Idiot Abroad. He Directs, Acts, Does stand up comedy, Has his own talk show, Has his own radio show and Presents award shows. So he deserves what he has, so does Karl.
Ricky still makes residuals from The Office UK and US, Extras, his podcasts/radio show, The Ricky Gervais Show, all Idiot Abroad series, Derrek, Life is Short, etc. Most shows cost 1/4 or 1/2 a million dollars per episode...so yes, he made many a millions, not to mention he also made money doing stand up and acting in movies.
yer that would still not make much sense.Ricky is the guy who does all the work all Karl does he answer questions and explain his weird theories and travel around the world. Ricky is the one who sets everything up and does all these stand up shows and movies. so it would be very unbelievable if Karl would be worth more
Dude it really isn't difficult to check it for yourself. Karl's salary alone is over £200k/pa and that doesn't include endorsements or image rights. He's a millionaire, why's it so hard to take. And FazRulesZ4ever is pretty close with £50mill for Gervais too... Again, look it up, it's not hard.
If things ever go wrong for Karl, which I'm sure they wouldn't because Ricky or Steve would help out. If I were Karl I'd turn to Ricky and say, "hey you've made money off of me for years. Your worth £50 million, you can pay my bills and give me an allowance."
You are confusing art with celebrity. Artists do indeed have value, but a good example of your point would be a reality tv star like the Kardashians for instance, that provide no art or performance, but only are famous and successful because they are famous and successful.
how ? please explain why Karl should be worth more. i mean Ricky has been in tv shows and movies and is a stand up comedian and he is a producer of a few shows. Karl is someone who is a radio host and has 3 series of him walking around the world one of the series traveling with actor and friend Warwick Davis
@TheRandyChimp Trust me, if you go to africa and they know you're a tourist, they all crowd around you and ask you to give them money and buy their things, and children run up and hold your hand, it's really sad that they have to do that, but it doesn't help the tourist feel any better either. Once you give something to one of them, they all expect something from you. My dad experienced it when he went to the World Cup
its pretty common knowledge to know the valutas of at least usdollars/euros/pounds. or at least the ability to give a rough amount in valuta exange. common knowledge in europe/us/uk is: pounds-euro-usdollar= 0.78-1.00-1.22. basicly, as of 2012, just go 0.22 up or down from the euro, even easier to remember. if you know that youll always be able to calculate a rough value in your head at all times.
view in 2011, Karl didn't even have ONE million let alone tens of millions. As of 2013, according to Forbes, Ricky Gervais has a net worth $80 million, or 32 million pounds. The same source says Karl's net worth is $3.5 million. You were WAY off. And why wouldn't you look something like that up, before posting? You're on the friggin internet already, it's not that hard to google a bit of info.
@Ellie8969 we dont have water rates here, think the water expencies like matntenance and repairs are coverd with your council tax and since you have to pay it you dont get a choice it is basically free
@TheRandyChimp Actually I've heard that tourists giving much more money than the local people can afford for products can make things worse for the locals.
When we asked in Kenya what the appropriate tip should be, we were told not to make it too much otherwise the person you are giving it to won't turn up to work until he needs more money!
It wasn't in sterling, and as he said the African was happy. And it's not natural for anyone to overpay for things- there is a natural attraction to getting a bargain. And I hate the way everyone thinks rich people need to act differently- you are probably like a millionaire to most Africans.
I am annoyed that Karl doesn't get a six figure salary. Gervais gets tens of millions per year and Karl is very important and is worth much more than he's getting paid. I don't know Karl's salary but I assume that it is not close to six figures, sad...
You have no idea what you are talking about. The entertainment bushiness is a main part of the economy. People pay to go to watch TV shows, Go to Comedy shows and Sports games, is that not a part of the economy? Ricky Gervais Directs movies that are shown in a load of country's. He makes millions because of this. He deserves every penny he gets. I think Directing movies, or acting in a show that will be broadcasted to millions of people is a lot more difficult than an 'Ordinary job'.
I guess, but hearing that the shoes were from africa brings doubt into my mind. I love Karl and all, but I mean shoes and trainers today are like 40 quid and up if you want something quite good. 45p is a little more than a bargain wouldn't you say? I dunno the full story though, maybe 45p is worth more when there's little to go round.
i first saw karl a few years back on before he was known, ricky just said to the camera "this guy makes my day he's hilarious and i wont go anywhere without him" so ricky just dragged him around everywhere lol then obv ricky found something that karl would be funny in.
Dude, WAT?! Where on earth did you come to that conclusion?! The pure volume of work that Ricky has done (with & without Steve Merchant) including producing & directing is FAR more than anything Karl has done. Even little side projects like books, Ricky's doing Flanimals, he's done guest appearances on SpongeBob, The Simpsons, stuff with the Muppets...Karl doesn't do HALF that stuff. If you compare them side-by-side, which is stupid to have to do anyhow, Ricky is leagues ahead. As of this inter-
So Karl paid less than one US dollar for that pair of sneakers?! Even for another country that's ripping someone off. Why wouldn't you throw the guy 10 bucks just to be nice?
@jimmy2k4o Lucky you...where do you live? But anyway...still not "free" as it's included in your council tax. We have to pay not only for running water, but for sewage removal too. (UK). But take no notice of me, I'm being pedantic. I do agree with your original point about buying bottled water tho :-)
@Ellie8969 east kilbride, just outside of Glasgow, tech i do still pay for that stuff its just included in my council tax same way i pay for cut grass outside and rubbish puck up, thing in council run areas you pay them they tyake care of all that stupid stuff, makes thing simpler
people are forgeting the inflation in africa 45p there is more money than 45p here, so its not fair to say 45p to get shocked reactions from us spoiled bastards that pay for water when its free from the tap
