How does this guy get away with it ALL the time, especially it seems against the Bulldogs? First he kicks Dahlhaus in the head- should have been sacked for that and never allowed to play again, now he sticks his fingers in the eye of Bontempelli, and slams his head into the ground, and he gets a fine. The head and face are sacrosanct if they’re interfered with in a violent manner the perpetrator should never be allowed to play again. Also, I have a feeling the AFL thinks that people, regardless of who they barrack for want to see certain players play, that’s not true, if a Toby Green, Gary Ablett jnr. or Ben Cousins or Buddy Franklin doesn’t play for your team you don’t want to go a game not involving your team just to see these so-called superstars play, so AFL Commission stop protecting thugs like Green, and put them out of the game permanently. Also, I am not against rough play, the Giants taught the Bulldogs a lesson, there were several rabbit punches delivered through the game, but if the AFL wants to ‘cleanup’ the game start by protecting guys that are on the ground having their eyes gouged and their head deliberately slammed into the turf, by denying the offender his career in the game, if you do it one then it will never happen again. I bet if Green got a kick to the head like he did to Dahlhaus the offender would get 6 weeks! Protected species.

Greene lacks discipline, he's easily one of the dirtiest players on the field with his anger issues, and he's showing no intention of stopping.

This is weak sauce, boys. Bont could have been blinded. But cos he isn't it's "not quite a true eye gouge, cough cough". This behavior can not be tolerated, and IMO, Greene should not be able to take part for the rest of the year.

In the NRL you get 5 weeks minimum. AFL is going to show if it is weak on player protection or not.

I hate that suspensions are handed down off the injury done, fines and suspensions should be based on the potential damage that could be done not the damage that has been done.

This is an instance where the media is way out of sync with the fans. There is no way Toby Greene should play again this season. What he did would be penalised in the UFC, surely the AFL has to take a serious stand.

Gee, the AFL's official media outlets are in full Joseph Goebbels mode. Maybe Worksafe can fine the little grub more than the paltry amount the AFL handed down. Has anybody compared the fine against his salary? It is less than one week's pay and he is free to play in the finals. The ideal outcome would be that GWS are 5 points in front at the final siren against the Brisbane Lions, then Grubby Greene gives away a free kick and 50 meters after the siren, resulting in a Brisbane win. Clearly no, he hasn’t, and so he hasn’t been rubbed out. Which personally I think is a horrendous bias and something the AFL will apologise for once the finals (or the giants) are over.

Geelong had only 8 games against top 8 sides. They coasted to top spot by having the easiest draw in the league. Their last win against a top 10 side was in round 12.

Hey everyone Toby Greene got off the hook and he was free to play this weekend.

So it's the toughest sport out there but dirty play gives me a bad taste in my mouth. It looks like it was retaliation but, I wish our teams could just win because they're playing better rather than beating them up. Maybe I'm just a softy. Also, what's up with my Cats? Geez. Doesn't look like they've got "it" this year. Seems like getting rid of some of the veterans like Stevie J and others that were calming influences might have been too much over the last couple of years. Maybe I'm wrong. What do I know, I'm an outsider just loving the game. Whomever wins it's still my favorite sport out there.

Eye gouging should not be tolerated but you can't suspend someone if you can't actually prove they did it. I think at this stage, given the evidence they have, the fine is right
