I take the Hasbro Interactive D-O apart so you don’t have to! Find out how it works and what’s inside. (This is Part 2; see part 1 for unboxing and demo.)
Im so so glad you did this! Im gonna try to inject and redirect the main controls to an esp32 and this gives me a great head start on what to expect! Super thorough! I think ill start with just hijacking from the main pcb and see what i can take over myself. Try to leave the head alone
Just got this a couple of days ago and the first thing I thought of was "Mike's gonna take one of these apart!" Thank you for showing us what magic is inside. Hope you got him back together again!
Thanks for the teardown Mike! The white button on the side (10:32) is how he tells he's in the base. It depresses when you put him in the base. I'm wondering whether or not adding some more weight to the bottom of the drive motor assembly in the big wheel would make him more stable. As you saw, he tips over a lot! Now that you've shown me how to take apart the wheel I might try it. I can see from your video I never want to take apart the head!
Your videos are awesome. Thanks for taking the risk and showing us how to disassemble these units to further modify or add more detail. Thanks for posting.
My d-0 recently lost its charger port that connects to the charger. What part would I need to fix d-0 so he can charge? He’s really expensive and I want to try and fix him myself. :( great video by the way!
My D-0 has a bit of a problem and I am hoping you will know how I can fix it. When I turn the robot on and place it on the floor the robot just keeps jerking back and forth rapidly. Can this D-0 be cured.
If the engineer and design team going to use the 2 wheels drive mechanics like cheaper rc version. with the bottom heavy instead of top heavy, it would drive easier than this.
Any thoughts on why they didn't put a weight at the bottom? I'm seeing room for a decent chunk under the motor. I'm thinking mounting some lead weight there in hopes of improving his balance. Thanks for the excellent video!
