I wouldn't regard it as a budget kit if buying within Australia, but Hasegawa excellence is never cheap. Although I suppose one could reckon it so in comparison with the local price of Tamiya's latest release new tool high detail kits in 1/48. Ultimately this Hasegawa Zero is a very nice kit with loads of detail in its larger more impactful scale.

2022 release of 2016's new tool A6M5c Type 52 Hei Zero with new parts for the late war A6M5b Type 52. I have their Ki61-1 Hei in 1/32 along with many of their Japanese types in 1/48 from the WWII period. One of the things I particularly like about Hasegawa's 1/32 kits is the standard inclusion of a highly detailed IM pilot figure. The one in this kit has a choice of three heads and helmets, with or without oxygen mask. Sadly, unlike Tamiya Hasegawa don't include figurines in their 1/48 range. Very nice model from Hasegawa.

Yes, this is a very nice kit from Hasegawa. Pilots in general are becoming harder to find. Particularly in new kits.

All very true. In the early days of the war, the Zero utterly butchered Allied planes. Especially at Midway, where they wiped out the Devastator torpedo bombers. Its range and maneuverability were second to none. But with advances in technology, the Zero was obsolete by late 43, especially with the coming of the Hellcat and Corsair. But yeah, a famous story of a swarm of Zeroes failing to take down a single B17 happened during the Solomons campaign. A B17 named Old 666 survived an attack by nearly 20 Zeroes.
