Turning off the breaker might be easier. Many electrical plugs for ovens are hard to get to, especially if the oven is already hot.

The air fryer is the replacement for the microwave oven. Not faster, but oh so better. Great for veggies. Bakes wonderful fish. I've even roasted a whole chicken to perfection. If you don't have an air fryer, you are missing out. Also excellent for restoring the crunch to fried foods. Like soggy French fries.

My worst idea was adding blue food coloring to spaghetti sauce. Nobody wanted to touch that weird purple crap. It tasted fine, of course, but I think it broke my mom for a while. All I can say is, I was 12, and clearly feeling more artistic than intelligent at the time 😁

And that is a huge lie. I had a self clean oven...it goes to 900 degrees. You can stop it in the first minute. It takes a bit to go into clean mode. I have accidentally hit the self clean button on mine. Stop it right away. But when I was in my 20s I had a self clean oven go nuts. It went into self clean When I was baking a casserole. It blew up the casserole dish. Baked the food to the oven walls and door. And the oven floor was concave afterwards. It took me 3 months to get them to send me new stove. After I threatened to call consumer action at the TV station about nast customer services. I got the top of the line stove .

On ours it has a sliding lock that you have to engage or the self cleaning won't start.

My oven has a lock that is set by the self cleaning setting (actual setting on the dial, not just a button), but it gets reset if the setting is off and the oven is below safe(ish) temperature. So if I would accidentally set it, I can undo it and reset the oven to the right temperature (assuming it has not been to hot) and the door will be unlocked automatically at some point.

While trying to hide a bunch of bananas from a young 6 year who loves bananas I thought the best hiding spot would be in the oven, 2 days later I go to preheat the oven to 425 I totally forgot i put them in there.

LOL! If the house seems chilly, I set bread dough in the windscreen of the car, or other times, in the turned-off oven to raise. More than once, I've forgotten it was in there and preheated the oven. Fortunately, my bowl is a large metal one; if I remember in time, I can pan the dough that's still raw and bake it properly. I tried once just baking it in the bowl-- #cooking fail.

I once found & made a banana bread recipe that called for roasting bananas in their peel. It just tasted like regular banana bread but it worked. You could have made banana bread unless they were inside a bag or something else that ruined them.

I mistook '1 tsp of baking soda' for '1 Cup of baking soda' when I made my daughter a birthday cake a few years back. Her response after one bite was to slowly well up in tears and softly whine "I thought you loved me...", then she ran off to her room to cry, and wouldn't come out to open presents. #CookingFail

I don’t #. My story I made a 20lb Turkey in a cooking bag. I couldn’t get it in the bag by myself so my husband held one side my daughter held up the other side and I slide the Turkey in the bag. But... I forgot to put the pan on the floor under the Turkey. it was so heavy it tore the bag and land on the kitchen floor. 5 second rule. Washed it off did it right the 2nd time and no one new. Well I guess they do now if they read this. When several guest said it was the best Turkey they had ever had we had to hold back the laughter

Not everyone can unplug the oven without pulling oven out. In my apt the oven is not plugged in to anywhere where its reachable unless pulling out and then getting back behind oven. Mine if you do self clean you just press cancel.

i once tried microwaving a pack of fruit snacks to make them softer, not realizing there was foil in the packaging, and started a small fire, though luckily i was able to put it out quickly, and i was a teenager at the time, but yeah, it was scary #CookingFail

I've had something similar to that happen at one of my past jobs, except it was metallic material on the paper plate that I put in the microwave. I'm glad that I quickly took the paper plate out of the microwave once it started to burn.

My wife and I were newly married. We went to my hometown to celebrate my parents 25th anniversary. The benchmark near my childhood home is stamped 7,620 ft. My wife offered to make dinner one night and knew nothing about high altitude cooking. She put the potatoes on to boil a few minutes before dinner, the way she usually did. We had pretty much finished eating by the time the potatoes were ready.

Maybe because many ovens you have to try and pull the whole thing out first to get behind and unplug and its not easy for everyone to do themselves.

My cooking fail was me trying to make cookies that look like turkeys with my siblings. We did make cookies but they looked like shit that was meant to be a turkey. The Kitchen was a mess. At 7 yrs old, Mom finally let me help cook. She said, "The turkey's in the sink; you can wash it." I used plenty of hot water & dishsoap. That turkey was CLEAN. Mom rinsed it forever, swore me to secrecy, and cooked it anyway. No one noticed.

Self cleaning oven incident… been there, done that. Unplug it from the wall. Lesson learned the hard way after repairman gave me that tip, and a large bill to fix my burnt-lasagna covered oven. Smh😂

Many stoves' self-clean feature can be turned off mid-clean, maybe hers couldn't. That's dangerous as hell if you can't, though. Thanks for coming to my TEDtalk

When were we 15, my best friend and I attempted to bake cookies at her house. Somehow, they came out smelling like an expired dairy product and they looked really weird. Tasted just fine though. She brought some to school the next day, kept them in her locker until lunch. The entire sophomore hallway smelled terrible all year. Everyone just assumed it was coming from the volleyball coaches office, we never told anyone the truth. 😂

On the selfie cleaning oven.... One Thanksgiving our oven glitches out and set itself to self-clean... We turned the breaker off, the oven unlocked at a safe temp. And we saved the turkey. Started a fire outside and finished cooking the turkey on oak and apricot branches. Best turkey ever!

Mine can cancel the self clean mode, but if yours cant...a SMART person would have pulled out the stove & UNPLUGGED IT. I mean seriously grow some brains🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

I can press cancel too but I honestly would not try and pull the stove out while it's at a high temp to try and unplug. In my apt its almost impossible for to get your hands anywhere to try and pull out by yourself.

I been a loyal customer since 2018, The Ruiz Family even has there credit card which save you 5% on your purchases. This year like many we have cut back on our purchases due to the current pandemic. We are a family of seven and being able to shop at the store has not been possible for fear of safety for my family. Me and my Wife are the only onces doing the shopping this year.And to my surprise due to the lack of purchases did year Target has decreased our spending limit. Mind you we are very responsible with our finances. Which threw a BIG curve Ball to our Christmas shopping specially this year since a little joy and extra smiles are much needed this year.
