To the inevitable question of where these ads air - well, this one I found on RU-vid. There's also a website for this organization. No, Hasidic ads never air on tv. They never fully express that it's pornography, but once you get to the deepest part of the explanations it hits you "Oh they're talking about porn"; I think this is a very sincere commercial.

Well done to speak OUT about this issue. Too many people bury their heads and ignore how evil porn really is particularly when viewed by immature, teenage and worse yet, younger minds. Porn TWISTS the minds of males, especially into thinking that this is what real/true sex is about when it isn't. This may be a difficult issue to address but kudos to those who really care about their community and children ( and future)
I think this is an excellent initiative which I wish was available beyond the Jewish community. I have always been very hostile towards pornography because of it's indiscriminate nature and was very judgemental about it which my sons said protected them to a degree. Nowadays though, that approach probably wouldnt work so it's really interesting to see how others are approaching it. Thank you for being brave enough to introduce such a contentious subject.
huh. I’ve never seen pornography as a problem. Both my parents were very open about sexuality and the human form, and I see the human form as very pure and beautiful, male and female, aesthetically, and a miracle of biology, functionally. Sure, there is a time in the early teens when hormones overwhelm us all, but my parents’ advice is to delight in the beauty of those around you. And I have nothing against art, obviously. But commercialised exploitation of the youthful sexual urge to the point of turning a thing of beauty into a thing that’s used to control, abuse, and distort nature - that’s not only unappealing, it’s unacceptable. I reject it. But I am suprised that these were full grown adults. I’m surprised, but I’m glad they made this public and let people know they are not alone. I think dealing with sexuality matters are not necessarily the traditional strength of the Hasidim; I’m really grateful to have been brought up the way my parents did it, to have the appropriate appreciation for the human body and respect for others, and to know how to deal with my own teenage-ism [i don’t know the word for it] and all the jarring changes, physical and mental and hormonal, that being a teenager puts teenagers through. But yeah, the internet’s a weird place.

For anyone following this channel, there is nothing shocking about this video. In her recent video about internet in the community, Frieda made it very clear that the chassidic community isn't against using the latest technology. On the contrary. They will use any gadget they can. That is why they had computers and even cell phones early on. They only put the brakes on when technology brought along dangers to the high moral standards. Instead of allowing garbage into the house, they locked the doors. Not because they are against technology but because they want to live as decent human beings. It is because they recognize the good technology has to offer that they are constantly looking for solutions to be able to make use of all the world has to offer without allowing negative side effects to come along. This particular video recognizes that damge has been done to those who weren't protected properly and urges them to get out of the black hole. In many earlier videos we have learned about what meassures have been taken to prevent these issues in the first place.
Sadly the issues of pornography run deep in all sectors of human life and not enough people realize it. This ad addresses the men (or does it also address the women?), but the many issues of molested children around the world that I have seen documentaries about in ultra-religious school: Australia and the U.S., and even in Israel in various places everywhere, abound in so many ways over the years. If the children are being molested in the cheider and other schools - it is from an adult who is teaching them. Even in Tzfat, where I live, there were stories thirty years ago about molestation. If those molesters were never recognized nor given treatment, the cycle of molested children continues;perpetrators to pedophiles are what happens from my understanding. From the ad, it is talking about men seeking help online for the anonymity that they need. However if one acts upon what they see online, the pornography, it often stays in their mind and follows them home.... Hopefully all will find the best and most correct help for themselves. I think its important that in schools, children are taught about child molestation. in the UK children are taught that people including Parents should not be touching you in certain areas. I believe abuse took place because they took advantage of the innocence! As a christain, I'm so glad to see Hasidism is taking charge and setting up help instead of pretending that its not happening ! And also is not blaming, or making the individual feel bad. Addiction in it self is an illness and the quicker one seeks help, the better for that individual and its immediate family!
Porn, alcohol, recreational drugs, food, shopping - any addiction becomes problematic when you're no longer in control of it's use and consumption. When it's shaping your daily, everyday life, that's when you need to ask yourself whether it's an innocent habit or pattern that has gone out of control.

After 49 years of being a christian, I finally spiritually converted to Judaism, which will be confirmed formally soon. As soon as I decided to convert to Judaism, I left behind a lifetime of porn watching, from magazines as a teen to online porn, then to soft porn on RU-vid thinking that all of that behavior was acceptable since jezeus died for my sins. Now, I NEVER watch porn and I NEVER gaze at women in public. When I was a jezeus idol worshipper I didn't take sins seriously; now I realize that HaShem watches me all day and all night, caring for me, guiding me. It hurts HaShem when I sin, it breaks His heart; therefore I strive to avoid ALL sin, as much as HaShem allows. I am far from perfect but at least now I know that HaShem watches over me in a loving and caring way and doesn't want me to sin for my own spiritual health.

But I wonder… I’m sure it is much more rare, but I can see a young wife, particularly one who is in a marriage where she is not feeling a match sexually, or even an older woman who is unhappy, potentially using porn as a coping mechanism. I know Frieda has said that female sexuality isn’t discussed, because it isn’t acknowledged as even being a thing , but I wonder about they isolation those women must feel. I watch about 15 minutes almost everyday. Its a coping mechanism. It comforts me. I have no friends no family all my life. I cant form relationships. How can I? PP are suspicious of all. from car to house & reverse. There is no sense of community, in todays world there is a house but no home.

Thank you Frieda for showing us both the good and the “impossible” in the Chasidic culture. Watching pornography is “a thing” in all cultures and across millennia. This is clear that it exists in the Chasidic community and it must exist in other Haredi communities as well. Unless there’s a rule of physics blocking some action it will most likely happen. There is no law or rule that any human can make that some other human can figure some way to break it. A few videos ago when I suggested first hand knowledge of cross cultural communication between Satmar girls and Catholic boys and girls 50 years ago there were responses that this was “impossible.” Yet I knew it to be true. Declaring a truthful event as impossible doesn’t change the event. There are many reasons to believe that pornography, especially when it becomes an addiction is harmful as is any addiction. It’s good that if the community wants to help those who are addicted they need to talk about it. It’s clear that legislating against it and providing safeguards such as prohibiting internet in the home and prohibiting smart phones is not a fool proof solution. There needs to be education of not only boys but also of girls that these things exist and can be (probably are) harmful. Whether or not females are likely to watch porn is irrelevant as to their knowledge of it as they will need to recognize if their husbands become addicted.
