One of the best choirs in the world Fellowship Baptist Church Chicago Reverend Clay Evans was a friend of my family Reverend Ernest Lee McKinney Jr pastor of the Pleasant green Baptist Church Memphis Tennessee they were great friends for 30 years he was friends with Reverend William Milton Fields Jr Memphis Tennessee Clay Evans was a great man pastor of the nation he is greatly missed❤

Amen "mrtyroneb!" I am only 26 but love the old songs and hymns of the church. Don't know what happend to this style, but many people round my age don't have a clue what singin and "having church" is all about...LOL!!!
Today I saw a live performance of "Born to Die" by Glen Berliegh performed at Trinity CME in Lafayette, LA. The moving musical was magnificant and featured Brenda Jackson's opera interpretations.
This has been performed in Lafayette for ten years under the direction of Mathilda Martin who is also an instuctor at the Gospel Music Workshop of America and an educator of music at both Broussard schools and University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she specializes in Creole and Black Music in Louisiana(MUS362). Several movements were directed by Dr. Herb Jones who brought the house down in memory of Mr. Burliegh who has given us so much.
If someone can find/post Clay Evans singing "I know the Lord will make a way" and "All night all day"(Eric Thomas does two organ solo's on'All Night All Day" that are simply MIND BLOWING!!!! PLEASE FIND!!!!!!!
I grew up with glen burleigh at the helm of Minister of Music of the Morning Star B.C of Omaha, NE and the man is BAAADDD!!! This was every Sunday at Morning Star. Between Doretha Wade (I don't feel no Ways Tired) at Salem B.C. and Glen I don't know but when they came together you know that stretchers were in laying in wait to take you out! Omaha lost both of these great individual who created this "omaha sound"......
Now, this is real "sangin"!Somewhere along the way we've lost what real church singing is really about. It's not about ten people all with a cordless mic wanting to be seen and heard under the guise of "praise and worship" Sing choir!! Old school at its best and for the most part they are seated! Not running around as if to be saying, look at me!
I do know what you are talking about just thinking about it makes me want to lay out before the Lord right now and just stay there for a while you can't get that type of feeling from the boogie woogie praise ha I tried it aint nothing happen that way but thank God I have the Holy Ghost There is a fountain is another good one
