ok but can we point out how in the bridge it had like. the puppets of max and richie showing that the adults were totally ignoring the violence that was already happening BEFORE the murders
It makes total sense too, only a few people would be aware of it as Max is seen as a pillar in the school community by everyone except maybe a few teachers and parents (also likely Duke due to being a counselor)
No one is talking about Pokey’s strings attached to them! At around 2:30 Or how the rainbow later has the rest of the lords in black color’s besides Pokotho’s
I like to imagine that Pokotho and Bliklotep are the closest of the Lords. Both deal in the dichotomy of entertainment, with Pokotho being the performers, and Bliklotep being the audience. As far back as TGWDLM, the audience was considered a member of the cast , acting separately to the puppets of Pokey. Every play needs an audience, and Bliklotep fills that role. It's funny to think of TGWDLM as Pokey putting on a play for his sibling just for the sake of it, and taking it a step forward, every musical in the series could be seen as Bliklotep in the audience (the lights are off in the stands, making it a sea of blackness in which the audience silently watches). Just a nice parallel I noticed.
I don’t see enough people appreciating the the way Richie and Max are dolls during the solo because that ideal Hatchetfield was a romanticization of the way they pretended the kids got along
Talking about Blinky and the Lords in Black's involvement would be too easy -- can we talk about how Solomon seems resistant to the Lords' influence? It's brought up/implied at some point later in the musical that he's already been involved with the Lords to some capacity, so it would make sense that it'd be harder for him to crack under their (metaphorical) pressure... ... and besides, Blinky and Pokey just wanted a good show.
I take it as he made a deal for his place in office to he secured for the rest of his life. if he tells civilians to turn on their neighbors the people will listen to him and it’s not “his fault” because the people are reacting “of their own free will” he he’s not affected by this because he’s the one giving the order to attack!
holy SHIT this is so genius? I never even really considered how the Lords in Black were influencing this scene and of COURSE it's Blinky!! And Pokotho in Bryce's Reporter's solo!!! and their colors in the "rainbow"!!!! And I love how much more violent you made it, calls back to Black Friday and it REALLY WORKS thank you so much for making this!!!!
the amount of blinky purple here to show the dark lords are ALREADY here and have always been watching like this is INSANELY amazing im obsessed with this vibe here omg and pokey's blue being used for the spotlight??? AND the puppet strings? fucking AMAZING detail
Amazing use of color to indicate the Lord in Black! I love it! Also, absolutely love the idea of half of the chaos being instigated by Solomon, as well as it turning into an outright Black Friday situation.
Commenting for the algorithm in the name of our Ceaseless Watcher, Bliklotep. May their thousand eyes gaze upon this animatic with favor, O' ancient eldritch audience, praise be the council of the Lords in Black!
Honestly? This is my favourite Hachetfield animatic. The details and ESPECIALLY the stuff about the LIBs, with Blinky influencing it all and Pokey’s blue light.
Trying to decide if the Boy Jerry design looks like someone in particular or if I’m just cursed. And it looks like he maybe signs at the beginning? Either way I’m obsessed with this! My new favorite interpretation of this song. Solomon instigating and then having it turned on him because of course Blinky won’t leave him out! The puppets! The whole Black Friday esque ending! So good all around. I hope to keep seeing your interpretations of these songs and characters.
If you remember who Boy Jerry looks like to you let me know! I got a few times that he looks like a) anime character in general b) Richie hjhdksk Him doing ASL wasn't my intention exactly, but I love this interpretation!
@@zarrrazaunfortunately looking at it again, I’m pretty sure he’s making me think of some people’s human versions of Bill Cipher, which is definitely cursed. Still absolutely amazing. And I’m still noticing little things!
ooooo this is fun. i love how realistically designed everyone is and the idea that blinky is influencing everyone to stir up more chaos consider what the lords of black are doing is O fun!
Your imagining of a different scenario, Lauter and Bailey in a little stage, Dan and Donna live, and the reporters in the crowd, was super original! Loved it ;)
I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE WAY YOU DREW EVERYONE IN THIS!!! BIIG FAN OF ALL THE BLINKY MOTIFS THE SHAPE OF THE CROWD, THE PURPLE, THE CANDY, THE EYES EVERYTHING SOOOOO COOL WELL DONE!!!!
Blinky and Pokey really decided they had to go all out on this collab and I love how you can clearly see whos influence is strongest at any moment, its so good
THIS IS AMAZING?? I love all the blinky and pokey motifs and refrences throughout this I never thought about blinky influencing everyone but that makes so much sense and is such an awesome addition!! AND THE PUPPET PART WOAH, it really shows how none of the adults were paying attention to any of the violence happening in the schools until someone was actually murdered like oh my god??? This is outstanding amazing job ‼️🫶
THIS WAS SO GOOD AND 100% WORTH THE WAIT DAN AND DONNA MY BELOVEDS GOD JERRY LOOKS SO PISSED THE WHOLE TIME GOD MAYOR LAUTER JUST LEAVES LIKE DUDE YOU STARTED THIS MESS- I LOVE THIS ANIMATIC DUDE
Everything about this is incredible! I love the whole song as a press conference by solomon, who is remarkably chill until the blame turns his way. The presence of the lords in black is so thick and heavy, the crowd as blinkys eyes!!!
I LOVE how you make Corey do the thumb-pointy touch with three fingers up at 0:37. Cletus Jones much? Love all the (somteimes very ridiculous) crossovers and hints you can do in the Starkid fandom. Also loved how just before that, he lazies about until he realizes the cameras focus on him, and it is conveyed so fast and efficient and is just very good animatic storytelling XD
OH MY GOD WHAT A PERFECT ANIMATION AAAAAAAAAAAA seriously, the color combinations (which I assume) that are related to the Lords In Black are FUCKING AMAZING
my friend got me into this animatic yesterday and it's driving insane in a good way. every little detail is amazing. also that line "if he gets me next make it three", did you know the hand position you chose (thumb and index together) is, iirc, american sign language for the letter F? Press F to pay respects, mayor Lauter. you did amazing boss. thank you for making this.
this RULES honestly i'm obsessed with your artstyle. for some reason i especially adore the way you draw jon and joey. i would love to see a TGWDLM animatic from you if you ever decide to make one
i'm just getting into the hatchetverse starkid fandom thing but this is honestly so cool??? like your artstyle is definitely one of my favorite. just in general lmfao this also might be me not knowing a lot about the fandom ( i was confused abt the eyes the first time i watched this (i still have leftover tma brainrot and got REALLY confused) but watching it again it makes a lot more sense ) but this feels very. tma. like the eyes duh but the brutal pipe murder.,,, maybe i'm just going insane (i probably am) great animatic, would watch on loop for hours 10/10 would reccoment
OH THIS IS THAT GOOD SHIT I love the usage of Blinky’s colors and the inclusion of his eyes. Gives me the impression that The Lords in Black were very much present before the Summoning, and they were just watching the town unfold on itself
Idk why but the one reporter having a singe eye showing at 0:32 is really creepy to me like it was definitely purposeful but idk why it’s so creepy Love this btw I’ve watched it like 3 times at least the last couple days
Watching this I realized that when Mayor Slaughter says “if he gets me I’ll be three” and he was because of max is the killer then he was the third victim after Richie and Ruth
Hello? How have I not seen this before?? It’s absolutely fantastic! I feel like the way you’ve portrayed the events of this song adds a lot of that apocalyptic weight that so often shows up in the hatchetverse. Now it’s turned from an accidental death to a series of killings to a full blown massacre, and it’s clear that even when the lords in black aren’t the impetus of the horror they’re always present and willing to turn a bad situation into a disaster. Also, them working together! Such a sweet sibling moment :)
0:34 was sooo cool, I love the idea that the Lords in Black claimed each a moment of this mess, and this is Blinky's (And Pooki's, crowd control *is* his bit)
DUDEEEEE !!!! THIS SOOO GOOD OMG,,,, seeing all the teasers was great but now that’s it’s all together it’s freaking PHENOMENAL,,,, gonna watch this a thousand times so it’s forever ingrained in my brain *insert various screaming nighthawks here*
this is SUCH an insanely good take on this song. i can't even really express how much i love this. the little eye detailing in the backgrounds of 1:10, the way everything gets more and more purple as blinky fully takes over in the chaos of the moment, the little lighting details that add so much even when they're simple.. your sense of staging and framing is absolutely fantastic. you put so much effort and care into this and it's obvious
Is it animator’s headcanon that everyone got violent with each other? I love the idea that Blinky had some force here, that’s sick as hell. I like to think each other had some hand in what went on in NPMD, and I think putting Blinky here makes a lot of sense. Especially with it basically being all The News in Hatchetfield can possibly talk about.
WowowWOW this is amazing! I seriously loved everything about this but the shot that got me was the crowd forming Blinky’s eye like oh my god?? And the bridge with Richie and Max with the LiB colours? Absolutely losing my mind
Dude I love you sm. I always took this song as interpreting mass hysteria and never even thought of it being influenced by the lords in black. This deserves so much love i swear.
Coming back for the millionth time and finally commenting, the way you draw Jon’s characters always scratches my brain just right. Boy Jerry here is just so unhinged looking I love it !!!!!
i LOVE all the details! max and richie as puppets, showing how the adults weren’t paying any attention to the real violence happening before the murders. purple for blinky, blue for pokey during bryce’s performance, and was that a goat eye for tinky i see at the end??
I think this is the most clever and impressive hatchet field-related animatic I’ve EVER seen. Amazing work. Everyone else has already said my exact thoughts.
INCREDIBLE. I've been waiting and hoping that someone would make a hatchet town animatic and this is everything I could have possibly wanted. It was made for me exclusively. Thank you!
This is so amazing!!!! I love it so so much, the fight choreo, the references to the lords, it is such a beautiful adaptation of this song and I adore it

godddd, everything about this is SO GOOD!! absolutely incredible stuff, I'm gonna watch this like a 100 times There's so many cool little references and things I'd just never considered about this scene Also thank you for your impeccable ✨✨Dan Reynolds ✨✨ design
I never put a comment here? Fixing that: This is so dang well done! The camera angles really show off the tension of the scene and the way you portray both the violent nature of Hatchetfield and the sickly sweet “candy and rainbows” fantasy in such sharp contrast is great stuff. Not to mention keeping all your wonderful designs consistent and realistic while still providing great expressions (Solomon and Jerry especially). Great work!
holy shit this animatic perfectly captures the vibe of the song and you did the characters so much justice oh my g-d !! this is amazing ♥♥♥ plus all the little details just make this so perfect you did amazing on this
hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggg YES I LOVE THIS it captures the horror of the Hatchetverse SO WELL. This song is so eerie behind the humor that comes with it
oh this is TASTY i love your use of color,, the way i GASPED when the sun came into frame also the way you used the camera?? like in the beginning there's a few shots that the camera doesn't see, sometimes we can't see the characters' eyes, etc, but then the MOMENT bryce's solo is over it's All Eyes All On Camera All The Time. perfect visual of blinky going "haha okay you got a turn. my song now" lol. i love this sm
Why did I get the notification for this masterpiece almost a week late? This was awesome the attention to detail was showstopping. I hope we get to see more from you
