When i hatch quail eggs i leave temp on 102 first 1-15 days and i drop it to 99 on 15-17 days i had 97-98% hatch rate. The reason why i leave temp so high is because even when i have to move eggs they will still keep the temp up and wont lose any temp at all! Also i do 75% humidity first 10 days and the rest of the days i do 60%. If you have anything under 90% hatch success do this method you can thank me later..

I am so glad I found this video. We just hatched our first set of quail (85ish) of them with about a 60% hatch rate on shipped eggs. We have been told so many times that they hatch on day 17, without fail. Ours mostly came on day 18 and 19. We were going to turn the hatcher off today but now will go ahead and leave it on until day 22. Thank you so much for all that y'all do, we enjoy your videos and learn so much from y'all!

Kevin , You are quite correct about the possibility of late hatching. The eggs can and do run the gamut between early and late . As most everyone that hatches eggs knows, chicken eggs take 21 days to hatch . My eggs began hatching very early on day 20 ! By day 21 about half of the eggs were already hatched. And the hatching rate was slowing down. Day 22 and several eggs had not hatched. Day 23 and a couple more hatched. Day 24 and three more eggs hatched. Day 25 ! And another egg hatched. Although it was not properly developed and died after one day . With that it was time to stop. Hatching eggs surely is not an exact procedure.

@@kellyd3696 Those are wild quail, likely bobwhite, depending on your locale. These are coturnix, very different birds, domesticated for many centuries. Like many chicken breeds, much of the broodiness has been bred out. This is a lot like comparing a wild jungle fowl to a production red.

I NEVER thought about Raising a Game Bird before but here in the Philippines it is BIG Business. Now I can get all the Hens I want, but they tell me you have to get Special Males to Make Fertile Eggs, or you get deformed Chicks !`` Our Quail here are a Cross between Your Quail & Japanese Quail. I always had Breeding stock when I was with my Dad on our Ranch ofd what ever stock we had. Cattle, Horses, Pigs, Chickens, what ever.. Great tips Kevin! One thing I would mention is that hatching viability and fertility are two different things, a fertile egg may become unviable after 7-10 days of storage, although the way you describe how you store them, as long as they are kept cool and turned a couple times a day should give you good viability for at least 14 days. I have had great success even up to 21 days storing chicken eggs the way you describe, with minimal decrease in hatch rate on older eggs, when I was trying to get a full incubator load in the winter when they weren't laying a lot. (My incubator holds 288 chicken eggs, lol) I generally try to keep them only 7-10 days before setting them though.

If you switch that controller over to Celsius, you can get better temp control. The minimum allowable difference from setpoint (ds) is 1 degree when units are in Farenheit, but it is 0.3 in Celcius, which is 0.54 degrees Farenheit. Ts would be 37.5 in Celsius.

In my experience with chickens, those weird, not quite right eggs happen when they get laid on the poop on the floor of the coop rather than in the nice, clean nesting box. I think it’s probably the ammonia eating through the bloom and into the shell. I’ve picked up a few over the years that look fine on the surface that’s facing up and are all like that underneath.

I saw on another vlog The you can sex the eggs before you put them in the incubator The roundish shape eggs are female And the more pointed eggs are male The male eggs if you run your finger over the pointed end You should feel like a thorn Which most times you can't see with the eye He said he had one hundred percent success rate with this method I haven't tried it yet I get my quail next week But it is handy if it works because we all want females for laying Unless you are raising them for meat Another tip I got of You tube was Buy the small coloured zip ties and each batch of young quail put the same colour zip tie on their legs Not to tight to allow for growth And another colour for the next batch I really enjoy watching your volgs Cheers Mark

Hi Kevin, my 7 year old grandson watched a kids video about hatching quail eggs. He was so excited to try it that he convinced me to go for it. Since his mother refused to do it at their house, I decided to do it in my little apartment. We don’t live in the same state, so we’re FaceTiming the whole project. I used your video to guide me. Thank you for the great instructions. So I purchased all of the equipment and quail eggs and got to it. Today is day 14, so I’ll be increasing the humidity and removing the eggs from the turning device. I’m curious to see if any of them will hatch. I’ll let you know. Meanwhile, I don’t know where to purchase the food that they need to eat. Could you please let me know where I can get that. Also, on day 13, the incubator sprung partially open while I was out. The temperature dropped to 26.8C from the usual 36.8C proper temperature. I don’t know how long it was that low. It may have been a few hours. Should I be very concerned about that? I guess we’ll find out. Thanks for your help.

Suzanne Davis Yeah! Day 18 and we have two baby hatchlings. I cough the hatching of the chick on camera and FaceTimed it with my grandson. There was much excitement. My grandson was a riot. He kept yelling, “push, push!” When the little one was trying to get out of the shell.

@@miriamvegvari I know this is an old reply but I love this SOOO much. I think my grandma would be like this if she were still around, just doted on us completely. (side note, I keep hens and my fave is called Miriam)

How can you store them before putting in incubator? Or can I put the harvested egg in the incubator and keeping adding eggs when they’re laid?

Amazon had a cool intelligent incubater all automated and it was very easy to use and comes with 4 of the watering cups too that you use. It was about $65 Canadian so probably under $50 in the U.S. Has the egg turner built in I think the name of it was Adpo or something? Seems to do a bit more than what other ones on there do, like 35 Quail eggs, vs. 16 for most of the similarly priced ones. Had a built in candler and everything and a 5 year warranty.

Just a thought you could take sand and put it in the bottom of the egg cartons and Nestle the quail eggs pointy and down and it should work to keep them from moving around

You can take your egg turner out of the incubator and store your eggs in that, allowing it to turn the eggs for you while gathering for the week.

But I think his cooler keeps them at 50 to 60. Not sure how to regulate a cooler though!

Hi there. You really do know your stuff. Thank you for the information. We tried to hatch 12 quail. We had 50% hatch, but 3 died so we are left with 25% success. If only we had seen your videos sooner. There is so much that we did wrong. The 3 we hatched are thriving and now 4 weeks old. I suspect one is a cockeral amongst them but the crow noise we heard was only once so we will wait and see. I don't want to go pressing on his body parts like another RU-vidr suggests to check out his sex. That'd just be wrong!!!!! Thanks again for another great video. Lesley England UK
