Awesome ranking. Hate forest is one of my all time favourite bands. All their albums are amazing. They are very straightforward, but they manage to create such a great atmosphere.

Glad you talked about Hate Forest on here since it's my favorite Ukrainian BM band. My choices from last to first (as best as I can) for their albums: 6. Battlefields 5. Sorrow 4. The Most Ancient Ones 3. Innermost 2. Purity 1. Hour of the Centaur (I have been listening to it multiple times more than the other HF albums!)

My ranking would be: 1) Innermost (yes, really!) 2) Purity 3) Sorrow 4) Hour of the Centaur 5) Most Ancient Ones 6) Battlefields Like you said, how do you *truly* rank a discography like that?! In regards to the demos/EP/split thing, I think some of the split and EP materials have had some of Hate Forest's best individual tracks. All great stuff.

Great video! For me Battlefields is a top 3 Hate Forest album, the slow, militaristic feeling stands out. I also like the melancholic interludes. Innermost is good, imo better than Hour of the Centaur, even if it has a bit more of a melancholic Drudkh influence that you usually don't find with Hate Forest. For me Purity has to be Nr. 1.

Yes... Purity is the fucking best. Incredible album ! All is perfect. The tone, sound, atmospher, compositions, riffs...monolyth album. Awesome live at Kharkiv (june 2019).

This would be one of the hardest rankings for me... every album is fire! I'd have to say purity, sorrow and hour of the centaur would be top... there are little compositional details that really drive the momentum and melodies home for me.

For me personally it goes: 6. The most ancient ones 5. Sorrow 4. Hour of the centaur 3. Battlefields 2. Innermost 1. Purity I guess the major difference between mine and yours is the placement of battlefields. I find that it’s such a sorrowful and melancholic album, and you’re absolutely right, it is the most evil sounding album. But I find that the interludes are perfect, it compliments the war torn atmosphere of the album. It’s very difficult to listen to, especially with what Ukraine is going through right now, so I find it’s the most emotionally stimulating album.

I have to revisit a couple of the old albums to provide a full ranking, but Hour of the Centaur really brought the band back with force, and Innermost follows it well. I agree that the interludes in Battlefields are grating, but those epic long songs on the album are so good I don't even care, it's near the top for me

For this band, I feel like their style lends better to short albums. This is why I like the last couple of Hate Forest albums because they are under 40 minutes and that fits well with their blast beat-heavy style. On Innermost, I also like the trade off between the shrieks and the death metal growls and when they are together… Oh man, is it awesome!

I got the last two at the same time, so far Innermost had my attention more but can change over time. Love Sorrow too, even though I ranked it last.

Drudkh sounds like "droodch", where the "ch" sounds like in German or in Scottish "loch" or the "x" in Mexico as pronounced in Spanish.

I love Hate Forest and Drudkh. Other great bands are Severoth, Khors, Dub Buk, Nokturnal Mortum and plenty of others.

Precambrian is another of Roman’s band. Glaciology is a great album. Very wall of sound, constant pummeling of ear drums

its weird to hear purity as the second album since they had had a lot of releases before that for me always counted as full albums regardless of their length but because they were unique. purity is like their 5th album to me

@@KennyCVT I can see why that new Drudkh album was disappointing for some... because the drum sound for a lot of folks was a bit of a hurdle to get over. I like the album, but even I gotta' admit the drums were a bit too "clicky" at times.
