We have found that this resurfacing finish really brings the ball to life!
We've mentioned in each of our videos we resurface every SPI (Storm, Roto Grip, or 900 Global) ball from the factory that comes with Reactagloss as it's just to slick and over/under. Watch as we take you through the steps

The pro shop at my lanes uses Storm products to do the old $5 polish. I love it on pearl, not so much on solid. Hit my Dark Code with 2K and then had him polish it. Absolutely killer. That 4K Fast was a joke…

I have the new rough and smooth edge. For my pearl/shiny balls I’ve been going 2k or 1500 grit (depending on where the ball is in my bag), then the smooth edge, and finally a light scuff with a 3k or 4k pad to take the mirror shine finish off. This is with a drill attachment to use polish pads. If doing by hand, I may skip the scuff step if it’s not super shiny.

I just bought a summit peak and it has this gloss. Looks nice but it feels like the ball is going too long!! I have a decent amount of revs, don’t crank it like crazy though and I have pretty good ball speed. I am not sure how I should change this ball but I know that I don’t want to have to play a bunch with ball speed to keep it consistent.

Follow the steps in the video. It’ll change it for the better guaranteed. Alternatively you can grab a 2000 pad and try to light to medium scuff by hand but that won’t work as well. This polish they use really closes up the pores

@@TamerBowling I’m going to take it back to my pro shop so they can do it on the spinner. I’m just surprised the summit peak looked more aggressive than it’s been for me and I put enough on the ball. I looked it up and the zen that I threw last year has that reactagloss on it as well but it was more snappy on the backend and I typically get things drilled the same way.

@@52weekproject I think the zen went through iterations. First the old 1500 polish. Then 4k fast. Then reactagloss

Sadly your camera was focused on your sleeve and not the ball. But I got the idea anyway. Thanks for the demo.

What did you do about the VE Blackout? Same? Thoughts if so or did you go to maybe 2000 or 3000 only on it?

Same finish in the blackout.

Great video. Getting my spinner for Xmas. Since they don’t make step 2 anymore would the Brunswick Crown Compound be a close alternative? Thanks
@TamerBowling
@TamerBowling 9 месяцев назад
Yes you could use crown compound. Storm has 2 replacement products, I’d probably choose “rough edge”.

Where can you get the Storm Step 2? Can't find it anywhere. Not even from Storm's website. I remember Luke Rosdahl or someone saying that it has been discontinued. I think he uses Storm Reata Scuff now. 3,000 finish I believe.
@TamerBowling
@TamerBowling 10 месяцев назад
Good question. Honestly didn’t know there was an issue or discontinued. I have tons of it still. I’ve used Brunswick’s crown compound with good success as well. Let me think about an alternative to this. I personally like the compounded steps to reach the finish I want. I’ve tried surfacing these straight and I don’t like them.

I've been trying to find it for months, I think it's over. Enjoy your supply, and please let us know if you find something comparable. @@TamerBowling

It was discontinued. They now have two new products out, one that they say is between the old Step One and Step Two, and one that is between Step Two and Step Three. Luckily for me, I still have about a half a bottle of Step Two left, which should get me through the 24-25 season.

I believe Storms new smooth edge & rough edge (32 oz) are new replacements.

What’s this about reacta gloss?
@TamerBowling
@TamerBowling 10 месяцев назад
We resurface every one that comes out of the factory with that finish. It doesn’t tend to work very well and it seems more intended to be for shelf appeal. This gives you a way to maintain the same place in the bag it intended but a more consistent ball reaction.

@TamerBowling
@TamerBowling 9 месяцев назад
No. Essentially this finish brings you very close to lane shine. Generally the final finish will hold up for a good long while. However if you start to find it doesn’t bite the way you want, it could be you want to refresh the underlying grit and then you can redo it.

Do you know how I can get 1500 Polished finish by hand. I have a Zen that I want to restore back to surface but I don’t have a ball spinner. I have all CTD pad 500-5500. And was gonna order a recommended polish.
@TamerBowling
@TamerBowling 7 месяцев назад
There are probably several ways but harder by hand. If you can’t get to a pro shop, you can try 500 on 4 sides, 1000 on 4 sides and then a polish like reactashine or whatever one you like. It’ll be easier to get a shine by hand if you use a straight polish and a damp cloth.

Just want to highlight that step 2 is now discontinued. Storm has replaced the step 1, 2, 3 with Rough Edge that sits between 1 and 2 and Smooth Edge that sits between 2-3. I would likely use Rough Edge as a replacement for the step 2 in this video. There is a bit of art with how much pressure you have to apply. I have lots of the old compound still in stock so will use that for now. Will eventually switch to the newer product when I run out.
