Compared to air rifles from the 70s, this thing is a Rolls Royce, and blimey, that's a good enough reason to get up early to hear your latest review! The perfect alternative to all the other NEWS!

Like the review as always. The AT44-10 was my first air rifle. Completely agree, you defo notice that you've been lugging it around after 2 hours of pest control. However, it has proved it's self very robust and about 10 years in, it's still going with minimal maintenance and no issues requiring work. 👍👍👍

I had one of these in .177 until I (sadly) sold it a couple of years ago. Wonderful rifle and mine was VERY accurate. Made the (richer) guys down at the club sick when it consistantly knocked the socks off their £2,000+ setups haha

@@shokimo6866 Thank you… I have recently reviewed 4 brand new guns and they were awful, this has taken a lot of my time. But the review has been sent to the companies in question and they have taken the comments and advice and rebuilt 2 of the guns, which now work. This means rather than destroy a companies reputation from the start, I work with them to produce a good low cost gun so everyone can benefit…so no, I will not just trash a company or its products for a cheap bit of recognition, it is very counter productive. Surely it is better for everyone that way..Thank you again for your corrective and supportive comment. Regards Andy.
@shokimo6866
@shokimo6866 2 года назад
@@AAROnair absolutely. This would not just destroy a companies reputation but also leave a harsh taste on the channel itself since its going to be somewhat of a first-timer (and there is no way to predict how the subscribers will react to such a format; besides that you made it clear that these arent your intentions either too). Therefore totally understandable and definitely the best choice to work with the companies that "provide" the content with their products. Your efforts are much appreciated, lots of love from Germany.

Im in the u.s. and have a carnivore that I use for deer hunting. Which is the at44 action, with the quiet energy barrel shroud, chambered for 35 cal, and put in a synthetic hunting stock. I power tuned it and have it firing 125grain 38 special slugs at over 800fps.

I have had one of these for some time now, and I like it. I didn’t particularly like the plastic stock, so I replaced it with a custom bullpup walnut stock made by a gent named ‘Craftsman Vit’. This has transformed this heavy gun into a bullpup heavy gun and I love it now (I sort of liked it before).

Andy does great reviews, everything you need to know about the guns to make a choice. I got a Walther Reign after watching some of his reviews on the different guns I was considering that were in my budget as it seemed to be the most suitable for my needs, I wouldn't have been able to choose without his reviews. This was my 1st PCP rifle and I wish I hadn’t sold it to thin out the collection. Yes it weights the same as Big Daddy after an all you can eat buffet, but there was something about it. I had an HW mod on mine and it grouped fairly well and all you could hear was the “Ping” from the action as you squeeze the trigger. The fully adjustable stock helps take your mind off what it’s made of (nice bit of walnut wouldn’t go a miss) and I found the trigger to be quite good straight from the box.😎

The AT 44-10 was my very first pcp maybe 12 years ago now and it came with a silencer including and I had it for about three years and it was deadly accurate and brought me so many rabbits home for the pot before it went to my nephew for his introduction to pcps. Yes it’s a tad on the heavy side and all the time this model has been on the go I would have thought that hatsan could have addressed the weight issue because that’s the only thing in my view that lets this rifle down, and fortunately my nephew was in his 20s when he got it and standing at 6ft 3 and built like a tank he really had no problems with it. And now he’s a proud father and things becoming financially very hard he asked me if I knew of anyone who wanted to buy it and a farmer friend who I have permissions on his land has now got it and even though that gun is roughly 12 years old now he said it’s absolutely deadly and is nailing crows and feral pigeons that are causing him problems within his home buildings where he has his cattle and feed and he’s really pleased with its performance. As for pellet choice I always found that accu pells worked best for me and that’s what he’s continued to use. But for the money if it’s a work horse and a work out your after it’s a definite contender in my book.

Hatsan AT-44 is the workhorse of the PCP world that will get the job done without any fancy dancy BS, and has been for many years. This rifle certainly deserves an honest, positive review such as this one. Good for pest control but not ideal for plinking, due to the heavy weight and the safety system.

Funny find this video today, as I was just out shooting my 10-12 year old AT44-10 .177 out to forty yards. I regulated mine many many moons ago which changed this rifle completely. I get about 40 shots using 10gr at 800fps with 1/2” groups at 40yds. Very simple rifle on a budget, and I want another. Lol

Great review as always andy! Oddly enough I bought a Hatsan Factor FDE recently and was disappointed with the grouping, then I removed the silencer! It was grouping pellet on pellet at 40 yards! I have an at44-10 and its not pellet fussy ok its at bit on the heavy side but pellet on pellet with fields 5.52 16 grains out to 50 yards using hawk 6-24×50 fast mount scope and 1/4 inch very impressive as long as you take the time to adjust the fit, the gun is very accurate. Clean the barrel thouroughly before use mine was gunky and so was the one i bought my son.

I remember when all PCP rifles had a power curve that you just needed to get used to , once I was used to the rifles they were every bit as accurate as today's regulated rifles , I remember listening to the head man a daystate talk about why they chose to stop using regulators in the daystate MK3 electronic rifle ( only a few mk3s had a regulator in them) the electronic nature of the rifles action and the electronic solenoid effectively took the place of the regulator so there was no need for one , and their mechanical rifles had the Steve Harper slingshot valving system in them and that was reliable and consistent ,a lot more than the more often than not troublesome reliability of regulators back then , air arms kept well away for years , they only used a reg in their flagship ft rifle, at the time I firmly fell into the less is more camp and stayed away from regulated rifles for a couple of years ,I shot many an hft course with un regulated rifles and scored 50 or above , don't overlook unregulated rifles from the recent past , they are just as accurate and enjoyable as the new crazy 3 qauge rifles that are starting to appear ( I thought two gauges was one to many ) .

Nice one Andy, i bought one of these many years ago as my first foray into the world of PCP Rifles & i have to admit, after cleaning the barrel a few times it served me very well,they are accurate & reliable,the weight will put a lot of people off of course, nowadays there are so many "budget" options that are a lot lighter & offer more for the money, i suppose the HatsanAT-44 has been sidelined , a good rifle but somewhat archaic in the world of PCP in 2022.

Still love my Hatsan Gladius, great for relaxed target shooting and plinking (I don't hunt and I'm left handed but the bullpup configuration is still great for me), I did have to strip it at first to Dremel out some mould flash which made the trigger bar far smoother but it was 5 minutes work and cost nothing. A great rifle and i own 5 differant rifles and when we get out shooting i always choose the Hattie even over my weirauch " And in the years ive owned this rifle its never leaked' jammed" or not given me anything but 100 percent reliabilty ... and i would happily say to anyone looking for a good decent reliable rifle to buy one u will not be anything but glad u did. 👍

Bought an at-44 around 8 years ago when I first got into shooting and loved it (apart from the weight) I’ve had other far more expensive pcp’s since getting this ( daystate ranger, r-10, s510) but keep going back to the hatsan. As it cost so little in comparison when out and about you constantly worry with expensive guns that they will get damaged but with the hatsan it is hard wearing and cheap and works just as well as a £1000 daystate

Cons: 1-magazine has a limit on pellet length so long pellets may hang up that magazine as it rotates.2- can not be loaded ‘single shot’ as the mag well is to narrow. 3- all ammo used need to be ‘ standard pellets’ as the mag uses a oring to retain ammo in mag, I would assume slugs may wiggle out of the mag.
@rmcjr5206
@rmcjr5206 Год назад
I never had an issue with slugs slipping from the mag, but I have a big issue with the fact that the barrel doesn't like slugs at all. Crazy accurate with the right pellet, but never found a slug that was usable in the AT44 at even 30 yards. It's a shame, because the power is remarkable with slugs (my 25 with a heavy slug will blow clean through a 1" fence board at 40 yards) but they don't group at all.

I went for the kral puncher in synthetic stock for my first “budget” PCP. I’d consider this bracket of rifles more affordable than budget. I find budget rifles like the SMKs and others in that price bracket cut corners and have poor finish quality on some of their rifles. Kind of a luck of the draw whether you get a quality one or not. Companies like Kral, Hatsan etc don’t seem to cut corners and make £400 rifles that perform like £800 ones. Not to say the SMK and the like aren’t good starter PCP for people especially with their incredibly cheap price points and they do perform better than the price would let on tbf.

Small pressure gauge - accuracy? Heavy (with scope and possible bipod) for carrying around for vermin? A bit concerning a top silencer caused problems and finding one that "works" with this rifle may be a problem. Anti-double load is great. So, this rifle may have been a great choice back then but times move on and there are some very competitive alternatives to consider now.

If you are limited to 12fpe you might be right. On my side of the pond the 25 cal version comes out of the box at 40ish fpe and can be tuned up to get 2 magazines per fill at 60+ fpe. That makes it really ideal for either longer range shooting from a bench for fun or large pests (like fox/raccoons raiding your chicken coop) that you can sit and wait for. Taking it roving/stalking in the woods would be tiring because of the weight, and because it's very badly balanced on a sling, but it would certainly fill a game bag for your trouble. The smaller caliber versions would be fine for benchrest, btw. The air cylinders can be hot swapped, so just keep an extra charged cylinder on hand and it will take you all of 20 seconds to have a fresh fill.

How would you say this compères to a gamo coyote?
@billy7035
@billy7035 2 года назад
Having owned both the coyote is by far the better rifle. Its far more accurate and easier to handle and the hatsan does have irritating hammer spring noise where's the coyote doesn't. The coyote is still a heavy gun though at least with the wooden stock.

💥BEWARE ALL💥, I’ve just had a message in my mail this morning claiming to be from AAR on air claiming to have shortlisted me for a prize, I’ve had these before one claiming to be from Air Arms and it was a scam so please be careful not to click on the link. I can’t find Andy’s contact details so I hope someone out there has it to let him know, Thank you.

Hi there, It is indeed a scam and they have been reported to RU-vid and they have been blocked. please don’t respond to them. stay safe Andy ( the real AAR )

Nice looking gun but I wouldn’t buy one because of that ridiculous safety. Operating it ten times for each magazine full.

Your idea of budget and mine are two different worlds. £400 is more than the average weekly wage.
@dragoclarke9497
@dragoclarke9497 2 года назад
According to HMRC figures for the beginning g of 2022 the average weekly wage for a full time employee is £601. I think Andy is correct in saying this is a budget (but still very capable) PCP air rifle, as long as you are comparing it with rifles in the same class.

@@dragoclarke9497 If that is the case then gib's a job at 40+ hours a week that pays me that. I think the data comes from leftie londoners, I dont know anybody other than supervisors or management who earns anyway near that. I live in the real world not a pen and paper one.

Budget for a PCP. Though there are less expensive options now. In the States, we have a contractor who has a RU-vid channel, Affordable Airguns. He considers less than $1000 affordable. Personally, I'd put it at less than $350.

@@brettbaker5599 What people consider "budget" tells you a lot about their socioeconomic background and status. One of the repliers considers £15 ph an average wage in the UK, its not, its less that £8 ph in the real world and the common mans world.
