The Hatsan Mod 95 in .22 may be one of the best values for a hunting airgun on the market today. It hits with serious authority and is built like a tank. It is a bit heavier and takes a bit more upper body strength than other guns in it's price range. It has a great trigger and beautiful stock.

For those in USA, that want a smoother trigger. We in Europe get the two set screws on the trigger, as grub screws. That allows us to get a much smoother trigger. Exchange those bolts on yours, to grub screws, and you get a light trigger :)

I just watched a video of the Hatsan Model 95 before yours and the guy was complaining the gun was inaccurate and the scope moved when he fired the gun before he shot the video. I noticed 3 holes at the top rear area of the air chamber that are where the rear scope ring goes. I guess he didn't notice them. That's why I trust your judgment as well as other air gun websites like Off the Shelf Airguns , Andy's Air Guns, and Walnut and Steel just to mention a few. Your Hatsan Model 95 was doing good. To all air gun channels that give us all the facts and rock solid advice, thank yous so much and keep up the good work.

John David: The Vortex works well in the 85 and the 95. I prefer the 95. The wood stock does a lot to absorb the recoil and makes it very nice to shoot. cheers AGW

I'd like to see a review on an air rifle where someone actually sights it in and shoots at a range like 50 meters. I have one of these and sighted it in for 50 meters with the scope and it can shoot 3" or so groups. I find that it is still breaking in and as I shoot it more, it has become more consistent with respect to group size.

Thank you for your question. While I had been providing service on Hatsan Products in the past, those duties have recently been moved to their new repair facilities in Bentonville. Please use the form on their website to arrange for service. Cheers, AGW

I've been away from air gunning for a few years and had given away or sold mine . I've been looking to get back into it recently and was leaning the Model 95's direction and your video helped me " pull the trigger " sorry for the pun . I remember your videos from when I was still into air guns and your still a go to resource for info . Thanks .

Jaime Perez - No, the Crosman Premiers do not shoot well. They tend to vary in size which causes them to have accuracy issues. Stick to premium pellets such as H&N, JSB, and RWS. Cheers, AGW

The provided scope works well on my Daisey 880. I went with a Baraska scope with a better mounting. At 35 yards I have groups about quarter size. At that range the pellets pass through the quarter inch plywood I have the target stapled to. That should easily take down any varmint I'm looking to eliminate. The Hatsan 95 is a quality gun and is a treat to use,

Rick call it luck or good shot placement.I took out a 35 pound ground-hog I used my Hatsan 95 in .25cal. He was destroying my neighbors yard all most his foundation of his house . He was about 20 yards away head shot. Put him down one shot one kill !!! The pellet i used was H&N Sport Crow Magnum. Thanks rick for all you do for us air gunners.

After purchasing this gun, it blown me away how great it was for the price. It is really accurate once sited (i use open sites) it is accurate within 20-30 yards. .22 caliber has been surprising especially dropping birds and squirrels like stone. I recommend people to purchase this , it will get you shooting! Aside from that, it is a heavy gun so this can get you muscles haha Cheers, JHS

The solution is to get a scope with an adjustable parallax that will let you "focus" your scope while at a higher magnification at close range. That will allow you to "see past" your front sight. Hope that helps. Rick

In that $200 price range, the 95 and the leverage are really great options.. if you can go just over $200, then the RWS 34 is a better option. Cheers Rick

Rick, I went with the hatsan model 95. All I can say is wow!! I received it yesterday, wiped it down, cleaned the barrel and loctited all fasteners. This morning I started sending lead down range. After getting the supplied scope sighted in I started checking for accuracy.Keep in mind I have about 50 rounds through it. I am getting .15" groups @ 40 yards using H&N ftt14.66grn. I'm amazed at its accuracy. I can't wait to take some small game with it as well as see how much more accurate it may possibly get. I do need your advice one more time if you would be so kind. my daughter has a birthday coming up. She will be 9. She loves to shoot. She has been using a crosman 760p. For nearly a year. She likes plinking with me all the time. However I feel she has outgrown the 760. Due to the fact that she shoots it almost every day and it is not a very accurate gun. She can hit a 1" spinner target with it over and over @28 yards. But the problem is that it is about out of umph at that range and the accuracy falls to pieces any further than that. Inside of 20 yards she has taken small birds left and right. She has a Rossi .22/.410 combo and we don't shoot powder as much but like to keep our skills honed during the summer months. So I'm looking for something to fill the gap. Can you please recommend a beginner break barrel that is accurate, more powerful than her 760, it needs to be light due to her small frame and one that is easy to cock? I would greatly appreciate it and I know that she wants one for her b day. Thank you in advance... You're the man and I trust your opinion the most. Leo

Leonardo Tamez - There are a few guns that may work. If you don't mind spending a little money, look at the Beeman B7. It's a wonderful youth gun with enough power to keep things interesting. There are a lot of other options on the market as well: Gamo Little Cat, Hatsan Alpha, the new youth gun from Stoeger, etc. My daughter loves the little cat. She shoots silhouettes at 35 yards with her's. cheers, AGW

I just posted an answer to that on the Gamo co2 video.. basically look up Bryan and Associates.. they make fittings for the 88 gram bottles, as well as have the parts to let you refill them from standard paint ball tanks. cheers Rick

I bought a Hatsan 95 Vortex rifle 3 years ago and shot it a few times (less than 75 shots total) Yesterday I went to shoot it and when I went to cock it by bending the barrel down it had NO resistance! I tried to shoot it, thinking it must already be ready to shoot! Nothing happened! I contacted Hatsan and they said that it must need a new compression piston! Only 75 shots and now I must buy a new piston for $39.95 plus shipping both ways for a total of over $60.00! Anms try to fix it myself! A brand new rifle cost only $149.95! I thought buying an air rifle would be cheaper to shoot! I will have over $200.00 in this rifle for 75 shots! Its much cheaper to shoot my .22 rifle! The Customer service is not willing to do anything other than sell me a new piston(which lasted me 75 shots! Or of course they will fix it themselves for around $100.00 with shipping! Not worth doing anything other than throwing it out into the trash! Don't bother buying this rifle! I know it won't last and they will not help you fix their junk rifle!
@AirGunWeb

depends on the pellet.. if you use JSB pellets you may get 15 to 16.. if you use H&N you may get 19.. You need to find what works best in your particular gun. I've found them to vary between JSB and H&N. Cheers Rick
@AirGunWeb
@AirGunWeb 12 лет назад
The parts are available directly at Crosman. As for your other question, I really like the RWS rifles. The Hatsan rifles are also very good, but you'll find that the RWS build quality is better out of the box. Cheers Rick

This is one of the best guns for its pricepoint. The Ruger Yukon is a nice gun as well but it is hard to beat the Mod 95 for 149.95. Cheers, AGW
@AirGunWeb
@AirGunWeb 12 лет назад
22 caliber is my preferred caliber for almost every type of shooting. If you are just target shooting at closer ranges for example inside 20 yards, then .177 is a very good option. But if you have any desires to hunts or shoot accurately beyond 20 yards than the 22 will give you a better chance of success. Consider the RWS 34 in your specific price range. Cheers Rick

Kelly - Look at the Hawke Sport HD IR line of scopes. They use an etched glass reticle that really holds up well. Cheers AGW
@AirGunWeb
@AirGunWeb 11 лет назад
It very well may be the pellets. If you are using crosman pellets.. test to see if it goes in the breach hard or easy.. I bet you'll get some of both.. if that is the case then you've got inconsistencies with your pellets and they will never be consistent. Try H&N Field Target Trophy pellets or JSB 15.9 grain pellets. They should both work better. Also, make sure you are using the artillery hold for best results. Cheers Rick

My new Hatsan 95 was loud at first because there was so much oil in the thing that it was dieseling. After about ten shots it got very quiet. Any meaningful trigger pull reduction required a longer screw in the rear (closest to the shooter) position. Then I could get the pull down to a comfortable light touch with positive break and no creep.
@AirGunWeb
@AirGunWeb 9 лет назад
David Jenson Pull tension is controlled by letting out the rear most screw behind the trigger blade, NOT by replacing the rear most screw in the trigger blade with something longer. Please refer to the series I've written on the subject at www.airgundepot.com and search for Quattro trigger adjustments. Changing the screws out, specifically by inexperienced users, can result is misfires and injury.CheersAGW

This gun is built much better than the Trail NP, which has been revised several times by Crosman since my review and does not get the same velocity or accuracy anymore. The scope is what limits the 95 as the trigger on the 95 is significantly better than the trigger in the Trail. As for the Browning, terrific gun I'd have a hard time choosing between it and the 95. The 95 is built to a higher quality, the Browning is easier to shoot. Cheers Rick

I will to the further ranges when I can.. It's been 115 degrees in Havasu lately with high winds. There is a lot you can learn from a gun without having to shoot past 10 yards, but I will get to the 20 and 30 yards groups as an update when the weather cools off. Cheers Rick

If I'm going to be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the 135, but if you were to get one.. get it in .25 caliber. That will give you the best use of it's power. Cheers Rick
@AirGunWeb
@AirGunWeb 11 лет назад
You would want .22 for max range.. the .25 is great up close, but it will fall off past 25 to 35 yards. 100 yards will be a very big stretch for this to keep accuracy. 50 yards would be tops for repeatable groups. Cheers Rick
@AirGunWeb

The Hatsan 95 or the RWS 34 will both be good options. Each rifle will prefer a different pellet.. JSB, RWS, and H&N pellets are generally good options for quality pellets. Cheers Rick

Thanks for the response Rick. I guess I'm leaning toward the 95. I've watched/read most of your reviews and so far the browning and 95 are the two that have stood out the most. Rick, your review of this gun only goes into 10m accuracy. How does it shoot at 20, 30, 40, and above?? You recommend the 95 over the NP trail, but why? Your review shows .304" CTC at 10m for the 95 and .188 CTC at 10m for the NP. Also the NP shows good accuracy to 50m (under 1" ctc) while the 95 you say will hold 1" at 30m but not likely at 40 or 50. Is it mainly the trigger? One last question, Browning leverage or the 95... or anything else you'd recommend in the $200is and below range?

Rick, thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I'll be purchasing the 95 in a couple of weeks from Pyramid. One more quick question: in your sniper 85 review you said you could not get the scope to line up and purchased different scope. You made no mention of this with the 95 review. Do I need to do the same thing for the 95, if so, which ones do you recommend. I plan on upgrading to the utg ao compact bug buster in the near future.
@AirGunWeb

The included scope in the 95 combo is not a bad scope. To get the best accuracy out of this rifle it would pay to get a better scope. A scope like the Leapers 4x32AO would be a good upgrade for it that would not break the bank. Also consider the Hawke 3-9X40 that costs about 80.00. I have a friend in Virginia that has this Hawke on his 95 and he is very happy with it. Cheers, AGW

Hey Rick, I,m a follower of your videos, after purchasing 125 sniper and 95 both in .25 I understand your enthusiasm to Hatsan. Now, I'm in Houston and would like to buy another .25, but found it over priced, the black one was $ 180.00 in Lebanon w/o scope. so I'm going to the 135 because it comes without the compulsory scope. in a previous comment you told Gabriel that you're not a fan of the 135 could you be more specific about its drawbacks at least compared to the 125 sniper

Thank you for your honesty. It's much appreciated, I do have one more question if it's not too much trouble. Which would be a better air rifle for me? The xisico xs28m or the hatsan 95? Again, I am interested in accuracy and down range power. Thank you ahead of time, and as always your opinion is highly valued.

@AirGunWeb 9 лет назад
Leonardo Tamez - if you are looking for 50 yard down range accuracy and power, then you need to go PCP or spend a lot more money, i.e. the RWS 460 Magnum will do it. The X28m will be a role of the dice whether or not you get one that will group at that range. However, if you got a Hatsan AT44 QE Long in .25, you'd have all the power and downrange accuracy out to 75+ yards. Cheers, AGW

Hey Rick, I've been looking at the Hatsan 85 sniper and the 95. Does the silencer help that much to dampen the sound? Because I live in the country it's really not an issue of privacy, but obviously a quieter gun would be more enjoyable to shoot. I also prefer the look of the wood stock over the composite, and the 95 is a bit cheaper. But if the silencer helps that much, I could justify spending the couple of extra bucks. Thoughts?

hello, Rick I love all your reviews, I have 2 questions: 1st, wich air rifle would you buy RWS 34 in .22 or hatsan mod 95 in .22? also I have a crossman NP, but after about 200 shots the nitro piston leaks, I live abroad and sending the gun to pyramid air to install a new piston would cost me as much as buying a new one, I wanted to know if i can install a spring piston, i only need 4 parts that i can't seem to find the parts seperatly on the internet, any ideas? thank you very much.

You can try the Benjamin Trail NP in hardwood, Hatsan 85 Sniper in Camo or the Stoeger X20S Suppressor. Cheers, AGW

I prefer the gun with the stock spring. Cheers Rick

Have greatly appreciated your comments and reviews and have nearly decided on Hatsan 95 in 22 cal. However, I am unhappy with Ruger Air Hawk because of weight, handling, and cocking difficulty. Would Hatsan be that much different? Thanx.

The Hatsan 95 in .22 is a much better rifle than the AirMagnum. It is not that heavy, it is easy to cock and it is accurate. It is a joy to shoot Bob. Cheers, AGW

My preference would be this gun over the NP. Cheers Rick

nope.. I would go with the 125 class gun in .25 for something like hogs.. and I don't think they have the required energy for a clean kill. You should consider PCP guns with more power. cheers Rick

Rick, i bought this gun along with leapers 3-12 x 40 and field target trophies. Its a great gun but its tough to sight in because, well.. Ill think ill have it sighted and ill hit a bullseye. But then the next shot with be down to the left or high to the right.. Im guessing this will be worked out with practice but i dont know if i should continue trying to sight in the scope or not.. Have you ever had trouble with this?
