Hauling Logs

@@TruckmonkeyT15 Steve, I am a Faller / Logger and have been for the majority of my adult life. I honestly could run a chainsaw before I could ride a bike. I'm 61 now and we own and run our own little family Logging Company and have since 2004. The wife runs the business end and deals with the US Forest Service putting in bids for timber sales and so forth while I and our Son run the crew and do all the rest of the manual labor. I have seen guys and have done exactly what your doing when we first started our business and all we had was a flat Bed Car Trailer, 2 pickups a 1 ton 4x4 dually diesel and a 3/4 ton 4x4 4door cab long box to get to and from....we had a used medium frame Ford Tractor built for Logging that had the winch and so forth in back and a PTO driven winch to skid logs with but it also has a log grapple in place of a bucket in front that is run off the hydraulic system. Its 4x4 and still my favorite tractor today. And we had my stable of chainsaws when we started. Now we have a almost new Ponsee Harvester, A Catterpiller track hoe that has a tree processing head on the front but we still have all the other attachments for it as well, we have a bulldozer to build roads or pile slash or we can skid with it. We have our own used 1969 Peterbilt Tractor and log Grapple trailer so we can do our own hauling to the Mill. So you see good things most times start out small. @@IRONHORSE427RACING Great story Sir! Thanks for sharing. I sure could use some upgrades in my operation. A tractor would be a nice addition. I've operate chainsaws in my trade for over 30 years, felling trees was new to me, I never fell a tree until I purchased my wood lot. I purchased a book and read on how to do it. So far so good. When I look at my older videos, I wonder how I survived LOL. The woods are a dangerous place to work. Stay safe!

Thanks for watching and commenting. That's a good question. I have done that at the mill with the smaller diameter stuff. I'll have to give it a try. Good suggestion.

OR could you parbuckle the the whole load off in one go?
