Thank you for all the videos you have done, I know you've made a lot of people very happy, I'm 57 now and was born and bred in Eliz South, my generation will always call Elizabeth home, thank you for all this.

Thanks again Will. Ironically, I was in Elizabeth North yesterday, with your last video fresh in my mind. The three houses next to my son are about to be bulldozed and double storey units/ town houses built in their place. There will be no gardens for children and tall walls overshadowing his garden. As you mentioned, common-sense has been lost where redevelopment is concerned. Sadly, economic upheaval around the world has contributed to a vicious cycle of online purchasing of crap and local manufacturers unable to compete. The future is scary....'my' Elizabeth doesn't exist anymore.

Yes, Susan. Our Elizabeth is long gone. I'm just glad I managed to see that in time to create a digital account in one place before our story was completely lost. Young people need to know their roots, and see the resilient and innovative stock they come from (which at this point includes you and I, also). We need to tell our own stories about what our history means and what our future holds. The local leaders aren't doing that (I fear they are incapable of it) and the media, with a few exceptions, focus on the negative. Gone, but not forgotten. Thank you, once again, for being such a great supporter of this work, Susan. Much love, Will :-)

I've lived in Elizabeth all my life and no matter how much they re developed it, I'll always remember it as it was thanks to videos like this and our beloved Football team, Go U Doggies.

A well done, but sad video as well. 1977 was the year my family moved from Heytesbury rd Elizabeth West to Gawler. Dad actually worked for the Housing Trust, he was on the road making crews, that established all roads in any new areas the Trust was opening, not just in Elizabeth, but as far away as Pt Augusta, when he spent several years working away, a fortnight at a time. also places like Christies Beach, Mannum, Murray Bridge, Munno Para , and Gawler to name a few. Mum & Dad could see the decline , and how the area was going downhill. so Dad put in for a transfer, something Trust employees were given priority over, and we moved to Gawler West, where, ironically, Dad had helped make all the roads, including the street we moved to, a couple years before. I was there till 1985, when I got settled down, and actually ended up buying a house at Elizabeth East in Nimitz rd. was there up until December 2005 when I divorced, and moved back to Gawler again.

Hello Catey. Thank you for sharing that with us. Your Dad must have got to see some beautiful places. Gawler is a beautiful town, even today. I hope you're happy there. Thank you for watching. Warmest, Will :-)

A big factor, in my humble opinion, is that it was essentially one of our state's big manufacturing hubs. And as did the others, lost its meaning when manufacturing was frittered away to cheap overseas labour. Elizabeth was a part of our post WW2 self sufficiency plan, which later, was thrown away, making us a net importer of completed goods once again, as we were pre war. 😪

I agree, wholeheartedly @Grumpy-sy7wr. There are many factors, but your point is the major one, I think.

It's not cheap labour mate. It's cheap imported goods which is closing businesses in Australia. Big fishes in the parliament getting their share..simple

@@mkbskb1 And how do they make the cheap imported goods so cheap? With cheap labour, paid a bowl of rice for every 100 widgets they make.

Pretty much happened in woodville north too. So much manufacturing in the area. A lot of the people in Mansfield Park lost their jobs to overseas labour. The Labor party hasn't looked after the working class for decades. They've been in power the most

@mnj640 mate because lot of locals are leaving the gaps. So someone will fill it. We are not hard-working like our older generations

Yes. Childhood playgrounds of the 20th century were not for the faint of heart. You really did take your life in your hands on some of that equipment, risking life and limb. Thank you for watching Samantha. Much appreciated. Will

Youre so negative. Its all nonsense. Industry comes and goes, its a fact of life. Happens everywhere...Lizbuff is great, Ive been here since 1959, I ve seen it all. 😊

There are countless of positive tribute videos on this channel mate.They are not all "negative," as you put it. I began the channel to pay honour to those I grew up with. Maybe instead of being so negative (ironically enough) about what I have created, you could stop being so negative and critical and create a channel of your own?

@@elizabeththatwas The work you do is good, but always a bleak picture of Elizabeth.
@elizabeththatwas
@elizabeththatwas Месяц назад
@@stuartstibbs2069 It is not always a negative view. There are hundreds of videos on this channel. It is you who zeros in on the negatives, ignoring everything else. This particular series, in fact, helped me out personally, through extensive research, to understand many of the problems that came to harshly impact many of my friends and their families. This channel has been created with a pure heart and deep affection for where and when I grew up. I think it's all too easy for people who aren't producing anything at all to criticize others who care enough to do so. If you have actual research that contradict any of the info in this series, please reference them, instead of throwing blanket accusations at me about being negative and leave the channel for those who actually appreciate it. You don't have to keep watching. Sheesh
