I wasn't able to donate during the run so yeah, Haunted Castle, my favorite Castlevania where Simon Belmont ate too much wedding cake and now need to find a bathroom in Dracula's Castle
Couching this run was such a treat, and all of the work that LRock put into this run really payed off on the big stage. It was an honor to be part of such a stacked couch for such a talented runner. If you want more mind-blowing 1CC (one credit clear) arcade runs, give him a follow at www.twitch.tv/lrock617
Extra note about Haunted Castle's availability: It's not only in the Arcade Archives as a standalone thing, but there's also the Arcade Classics Anniversary Collection, which considering that, the Castlevania Anniversary and Castlevania Advance Collections routinely go on sale for like 4 bucks, you're better off getting that as a value deal. Buuuuuuuut the Arcade Archive version shown here has some extra quality of life stuff not in that collection like more screen size options. You can't go wrong either way, even if you're...kinda going wrong in the first place by playing Haunted Castle instead of merely enjoying the art and music.
I definitely considered the Konami Arcade collection, but it's unfortunately region locked, so I'd only be able to play the much harder US version. I'm playing the Euro version here.
For people wondering why this game has a reputation for being mean, I want to add something that wasn't said. This is an arcade hard game that does not have lives. So any death is a Game Over that requires putting quarters in the machine.
I absolutely respect the commitment to The Greatest American Hero theme song. Please know that it was heard and recognized, if not in the auditorium itself.
