The Crump manor's exterior was an homage to Magic Kingdom's haunted mansion. At the end there was a pumpkin carved with the original wallpaper designed of the haunted mansion.

I work at WDW and Haunted Mansion is my favorite ride, I was excited and happy to see the Disney World version in some capacity. It would be cool to see it if there's ever a sequel. (Not that we need a sequel, but the idea was rumored)

The lore of the Mansion just “appearing” one day is also a reference. Disney built the exterior of the attraction in 1963, 6 full years before The Haunted Mansion would open in 1969. Imagineers were still unsure on the effects, story and even the ride layout itself so the building just sat there on its own all that time… To the average guest it really did just appear one day without explanation.

An interesting point is that that scene is supposed to take place at the Crump Manor which has an exterior reminiscent to WDW's Haunted Mansion and in WDW, Haunted Mansion and Small World sit (essentially) next to each other.

Alistair Crump is named after Rolly Crump, a special effects Imagineer who contributed heavily to the Haunted Mansion. He sadly passed away a couple of months ago. Crump's most well known idea was the Museum of the Weird, which was a collection of bizarre ornaments. Sadly, it didn't quite get into the attraction, aside from the red armchair, which has a "face" resembling Donald Duck.

Really Haunted Mansion has series potential, like each episode focusing on some of the most popular or iconic ghosts, as they share the mansion with the now living residents. I guess it would be very similar to that Ghosts series, but still fun to watch.

The Sea Captain character was the main story in Imagineer Claude Coats' original treatment for the mansion when it was a walkthrough. They even created a crazy effect where the room would flood but it took too long to reset for the next group!

9:55 Not to mention that endless staircase scene is EXCLUSIVE to the Magic Kingdom Orlando's version of the attraction so it was extra cool to have it very briefly in the film along with Crump Manor's façade obviously based on the Mansion here in Florida as well. 14:06 How could you not mention said pattern is of Donald freaking Duck!

At the 2012 Sip and Scream (A D23 event at Disney World), they had the Imagineers who did the Escher room give a presentation. They said it was all developed in some non-descript warehouse along I-75, and they always laughed when they knew thousands of people passed this warehouse every day without knowing what was going on inside. Ever since then, every time I passed a non-descript warehouse around Orlando, I wondered what was going on inside, lol....

Two other ones I noticed: In the final scene of the dining room, the saloon dancers remind me of the one from Disneyland Paris. Also, both versions of The Haunted Mansion end with a version of "When the Saints Go Marching In"!

The deeper lore behind the moving knight's armor is actually kind of funny. Disney actually tried having a physical scare actor in knight's armor pop out at guests for an additional scare many years back. But the actor got assaulted and hit so many times by people scared shitless that they just 86ed the actor and kept the armor as a statue

As soon as I saw the Mariner, I saw the sea captain from The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (book). Also, in the first film adaptation, Elizabeth was Gracey's fiancée, not his wife, who was poisoned by the Butler.

The Knight armor was actually a real actor in a suit in the ride when it first open, but creators believes it was a bit scary n would have tonhad multiple actors to be in it for breaks, so they replaced it wth a animatronic, but they brought it back during their 50th anniversary for the night

Just a small correction, the first road that they're shown on isn't the Causeway, it's just I-10 between Baton Rouge and Kenner. That was the Causeway on the road out, though, shown at sunset or dawn really.

Yes. The Causeway doesn't have trees that close to it, which is seen in the Eddie Murphy film. I adore that bit since I have never seen the Causeway with only one car on it.

I loved this movie and all the nods to one of my favorite attractions! It didn’t occur to me until I watched your video that Crump was most likely named after Rolly Crump, who had a huge hand in the design of the HM attraction. He wrote a book about his experiences at Disney and it is wonderful!

I loved the movie and all of the content you included in your Easter Egg video. I'm a little surprised you did not mention the nod to Walt Disney himself in the last line of Danny DeVito saying to everyone to hurry up the chili is getting cold. This is in reference to Walt's chili, which is served in many of the parks, and the work of Walt on the Haunted Mansion.

Crump was also an Imagineer on the creation haunted mansion along side of Gracey. Also the Crump mansion architecture was a reference to the Haunted Mansions in Disney World & Disney Tokoyo

5:30 fun fact this is likely a reference to how for a bit of time close to when the ride at DL opened, there were actors in knight costumes who would actually walk about their section of the ride scaring guests

I overall liked the movie. I do however have some gripes with it. I would have liked to see the more famous ghosts have a larger role. A few have a medium role, but others are basically just cameos. A remix of the grim grinning ghosts song would have been really cool. The hitchhiking ghosts only have a few seconds of screen time. I’m not sure if I fully understand what The Hatbox Ghost’s goal was. The hatbox ghost is the main villain who they also give a name and backstory to. The bride makes a few appearances. Madam Leota also has a few appearances and helps the main characters. The stretching room paintings only appear in one scene. The atmosphere of the mansion was creepy, which I liked.

The hatbox ghost's motive was to escape the mansion. He'd keep the souls he took, and start to terrorize the whole city. That's what I think

Just saw it once, so I could be wrong about this, but I think he saw the caretaker, his dog, and the hitchhiking ghosts during his dream/nightmare while sleeping on the couch earlier in the movie, not when he was astral projecting. During the later "spirit realm" sequence, he doesn't leave the mansion to go into the graveyard.

Crump also named after imagineer Rolly Crump who worked on the Mansion. And X Atencio had the imagineers watch The Haunting movie and did use many ideas. This was confirmed by his daughter.

I didn't realize Tokyo, Hollywood, and Orlando had different visuals/props for the ride since I've only been to Disney World in Orlando; also I don't know if I'm the only one but doesn't the actor for Travis look like the actor for the older brother ghost (can't remember the character or actor's name) on Nickelodeon's The Haunted Hathaways

I’ve been waiting 3 years since the movie officially announced and the wait was worth it, I understood every reference and get hyped from every quote from the ride and grim grinning ghosts in the background and surprisingly I knew every detail and easter egg in the movie before I saw the video

14:06 The chair Ben gets is a famous design by Rolly Crump, an original imagineer. He designed many things for the scrapped idea of a “walk through” attraction called The Museum of the Weird that was the impetus for the Haunted Mansion. The chair was supposed to come to life and talk to the guests which is why it has a “face”!

Haunted Mansion was my favorite attraction when I went to Disney World as a 9 year old. I was impressed by how this movie recreated it. And, yes I waited until October to watch this. I didn't want to see a Halloween movie in July.

All of the different park Haunted Mansion rides were included in the design except for Hong Kong’s Mystic Manor as that ride has no ghosts. (Because it’s a sensitive cultural issue. They worship their ancestors and ghosts are considered to be real threats. Friendly ghosts just don’t fit into that narrative.)

They’re making one! Was announced in 2021 and is still in pre-production (will probably begin filming sometime in the near future after the strike ends.) They also made an TOT movie in 1997!

Things i don't get: -Why is there a mummy,knights and a pharaoh ghost? Are they dreesed up like that for a party when they died or are they actually a Mumm ,knights and a pharaoh? -So do the ghosts live in the paintings? Since some of them don't have paintings. -Did the caretaker and his dog get killed together?

The ghosts of different time periods are out in the graveyard of the ride. Some are having a tea party, others are performing along with the Singing Busts. The caretaker and his dog are not dead in the ride, but their cameos in the movie are so I guess they had a tragic accident together. But does the dog count as one of the 999?

#45 I would think is more of a reference about Phantom Manor with the skeletons and appreciably creepier than the other renditions of Haunted Mansions
