My brother said that happened to him once. And his "doom buggy" stopped in front of a tombstone with a face that kept popping up from behind it, over and over again! Fortunately he was too sophisticated to be scared by it.
They were doing that when I went on the ride when I was 10 years old...back in the 1980's. Except they were sitting in the ride with you, not perched on top of it. It was my favorite part of the ride! :D
Kate O'Connor It looked way more realistic back then! I was sitting in the middle of my parents and I completely turned into a goblin looking ghost! Almost like the goblins in Harry Potter that work at Gringotts Bank! Haha! And it wasn’t colored blue. It looked like I really turned into a creature with real pigmented colors that weren’t see-through. They shouldn’t have changed it. Now it looks almost comical.
You know that thing where you would see a ghost sitting in your doom buggy, well I went there and one ghost pulled out a sign saying New Jersey here we come. I live in New Jersey
James Dennis Either that was a creepy coincidence, or if you have annual passes, Disney will sometimes put magic band detectors on some rides for some cool special fx. In the queue of rockin rollercoaster there's a room with digital posters that will change and show your name & location for ap holders. pretty cool
Last summer, I went on vacation to Cape May, New Jersey with my family. Cape May is known to be one of the most haunted places on the East coast. We all decided to take a ghost tour ride on a trolley at 8:PM. When we got back to the hotel, my sister was checking out the pictures she took of us on her phone. But one in particular shocked her and my mom. She said and I quote: "I don't remember this face being in any of the other pictures." I asked to look at it and much to my surprise, right in between my brother and sister was the spirit of a woman whose face was authentically blurry unlike the rest of our faces. I could tell she was an elderly woman due to her face. From what I could tell, it looked like she had a white veil on her head. I couldn't see what she was wearing on her body because it wasn't shown too much, but I guess she was an old bride from the late 1890's or the early 1900's. Her expression looked either bored, sad, or angry at something or someone. I wasn't shocked because I figured something like that would happen. I still have the picture to this day.
i remember when i was little my parents forced me to go on this ride because i couldnt wait outside alone. i was so scared that i cried the whole walk in and had my eyes squeezed shut the entire time
I was like for while too in talking about when I was in 20s scared of this ride. but I am in love with it now. but the ride that gets me if snowwhite lol I am that is now in my 30s. lol
I absolutely love this ride but it scared the crap out of me as a kid... I've been to the one in Tokyo and the one at Disney World and to this day it still gives me the heebie jeebies! 😖During my ride at Disney World I was hearing this poor little boy crying his eyes out the whole time and I just wanted to give him a big hug- the poor thing sounded just as scared as I felt the first time I went on the ride! 😱
Jb0ss Rocks I have been on the ride a couple times and is my favorite ride in the magic kingdom besides the pirates of the Caribbean ride and while I was watching this me and my sister were like “well obviously there is an exit, it’s the door I came in through” XD
Imagine it's nighttime in the park and you are just boarding the almost empty rides due to the fact many are waiting for the fireworks. Then you get to ride this all by yourself, only some crew members in the boarding areas but you'll be the only one riding it. Now that's something I would love to experience.
I did that once during extra magic hours after midnight! I figured there would have been people on the ride but absolutely NO one was in the cars around me. Curiosity satisfied, I’ll never ride it alone again 😬😂😂😂
I love this ride! I love the pictures that stretch. Also the ghosts in the ballroom, they look so freaking real! I don't know how they do all the illusions, but they are frigging AWESOME!!!! Including the Black Widow Bride and The Hitch Hiking Ghosts.
I remember reading somewhere that the chamber room isn't stretching as such but going down, the floor is like a slow elevator leading to the door below.. Kinda cool
The one at Walt Disney World is actually a stretching room (floor stays down, ceiling raises). The one at Disneyland CA is an elevator, and 'stretches' much more (the portraits end up much further away than you see here - here they simply reveal, while at DL the room continues down long after portraits are fully revealed)
Skyler Wendorff Well, luckily RobPlays here can explain why the famous octagonal room stretches in opposite directions for both of the American Disney theme park resorts: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Kup-mlb76Oo.html
ROCKIN ROLLER COASTER I rode it for my first time last September when I was at Disney World and we went on it like three times. Every time I listen to Aerosmith it makes me wanna go back to Disney
I rode this ride when I was 8, and then again last week. I'm 50 now. This ride always fascinated me. The designers tapped into a kind of fright that comes out mostly in the bizarre way the animatronics work. And the entire Victorian style and ambience of the ride is some of the weirdest scary stuff ever. The stuff of children's nightmares. But it's fun as hell though.
The cemetery where they play Grim Grinning Ghosts is my FAVORITE part of the ride. Grim Grinning Ghosts is my FAVORITE song. I love The Haunted Mansion SOOOO much.
Here are my favorite parts: 1. (The one that I like the BEST) The cemetery where they play Grim Grinning Ghosts 2. The Ballroom 3. The Attic 4. The front cemetery 5. (The one that I HATE) The part where you get off
I love the fact that Madam Leoda (I hope that I spelled her name right lol) sounded like the lady who was the voice of both Lady Tremaine and Maleficent!
I thought that Leota was played by an Imagineer. The story says that they were testing the effect and she was actually better than the original actress
Right this very second I'm in disney world watching this waiting in space mountain. And I just wen on haunted mansion and now instead of goats sitting on ur doom buggie ghosts pull ur head off it's really cool
Quite possibly THE BEST ride in Walt Disney World. No matter how many times I go on this ride, it never gets old...if anything it just keeps getting better.
I'M TAKING MY FAMILY WITH ME IN SEPTEMBER OF GOD KNOWS WHAT YEAR!! SMALL CROWDS!! MOST OF SEPTEMBER IS WHY THE CROWD IS SO SMALL!❤ THANX SHARP PRODUCTIONS! I ADORE THIS RIDE!
Whoever has played the Haunted Mansion video game knows this ride much better. The pictures on the wall were there when the game was loading and the ride had every room in the game. When I went on the ride, I was pointing out every single room/thing in game. The game, movie, and ride are all fantastic.
+Sarah Gleixner The video game is terrifying, for real. Like compared to other real horror games it's probably nothing but for what it is it's actually extremely scary.
I loved that ride. Especially all the features such as a knight statue, a piano that plays by itself, a grandfather clock that strikes 13 every two seconds, a woman's head floating in a crystal ball, dancing ghosts in a ballroom, a ghost playing a pipe organ, a skeletal hand inside a coffin, flying ghosts, dark tinted windows with thunder and lightning, crooked staircases, floating objects, evil glowing eyes, a graveyard, statues everywhere, a sign that read 'tomb sweet tomb" and dimly lit-candles, torches, and chandeliers. I actually went inside the haunted mansion and it was amazing and not scary at all.
True story. When I went to Disneyland a few years back, I was super scared of going on. I was crying and freaking out (since I’m very sensitive and it triggered my anxiety). A girl my age came up to me, and reassured me that the ride was enjoyable, it wasn’t scary, and that I would be fine. She gave me a hug, and walked back to her family. It was so genuine, and I am so thankful she did that. I was still so scared, even though I had felt comforted by her words, I still didn’t get on. A few weeks ago, I went back with my mom and we went on the ride. I was still scared and wanted to get outta there, I went on. The experience was made less scarier as I thought of her words over and over again. The Haunted Mansion is now one of my favorite rides. I’m sorry if this story bored you, but I really appreciate her, and I hope to meet her again someday, to tell her how thankful I am for her.
I always loved the stretching portrait room and the changing portraits. It felt more like a bad acid trip than a haunted room. I used to draw endless pictures of them as a kid. This ride totally got me into the supernatural, death and cemeteries.
o my gerd u have no idea what happened when I went on it when I was 5 and when u go down the backwards the ride got stuck and the narrating voice was glitching was super creepy it was repeatedly laughing
I really wish one day the ride would stop at the never ending stair case... the music and visuals there are my absolute favorite. It always seems to stop right in front of madam leota though... by now i know her chant by heart lol
This was one of my favorite Disney World attractions. I've only been here about three or four times, but every time I went, this was one of the first rides I went to.
Fun fact: (in the Disneyland version, not this one) The organ being played in the Grand Hall is the modified organ prop from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
This is going to be my first stop on my Graduation Vaca...I love the music they have...and I like the calmer rides...plus,I physically cannot do the hard, fast whipping ones, I cannot wait for Spring!!!
"Not hear to break the fun" But... If you heard about the most famous theory about this ride... The fan theory... Then, Is the illusion that whenever the cart dives of the balcony you cause suicide and then you are a ghost when the ghost say "Come dance with us" or something.. It would make sense since the Ground Keeper seems terrified of you.
ToPaLeY Well, as a Disney enthusiast (I'm 14 years old) I can actually confirm this theory! Before the 2006 update, the Haunted Mansion actually had a different storyline. It was about a pirate named Captain Gore and his wife Priscilla and she goes to the attic one day to find out her husband's past. Enraged at the discovery, Gore threw his wife from the attic and was so devastated at what he had done, he hung himself. Now as the rider, when you "descend" down the rooftop, you actually had fell out the window and died, meeting the same fate as Priscilla. So that's why during the first half of the ride, the ghosts don't acknowledge you until the graveyard, because you became a spirit 😄 I hope that helped!
FoxieRoxie365 that captain gore story actually never made it into the ride the reason the ghost start acting friendly is because of Madame Leotas incantation (after her scene you can see the ball and the ghosts having fun) you get out of the mansion just fine. How else would the ghost be able to follow you home. Glad to see another young mansion fan online!
When I was 5 we went to Disney during spring break and we were going to go on this ride. As soon as we got in, these teenagers screamed as soon as the lights went out for a quick second. I has to get off because I was so scared.
I remember that ride! It was when I was really young and it really scared me but it was still really amazing and I remember those little people who ave at you in the mirror! Oh nostalgia
Bruh riding the Hightower mansion in the dark is like my constant dream even though I’ve done it like a bajilion times already... it’s my favorite ride ever, including thriller rides 💖
If there are any "The outsiders" fans here just imagine Pony and Johnny on this ride together.Johnny would cry and Pony would pass out it would be adorable.
Watched this video I don't know how many times and I never get bored of it. I've never been to Disneyworld/land and I'd absolutely love to go. It's my dream holiday.
I've always wanted to go, but i'm sure all the loud mouth people would get annoying, Too bad you can't go in couples only lol. I'm sure it would take years to get through the line that way though.
+EQOAnostalgia If you go on a night off season when the park closes late, there's hardly anyone there after 10.30pm. I went on about 11.15 pm and we were the only ones waiting at the doors, and then only about 4 or 5 others joined us once inside... It's great as you get to see the aging man in default for at least 15 seconds rather than walking in with slow coaches and then it's already changed!
***** Yes, it is stretching. But it is actually an elevator that puts you underground. You are underground until you get to where the piano that plays itself is.
I feel like no one appreciates how awesome this ride is! There was no line at any point when i went but i absolutely love this its one of my favorites!
I'm wondering how ticked off the other riders got because whoever filmed this is obviously using a bright light on his camcorder (you can see it reflected in the 'windows' at various points in the ride) to record the ride.
When I was a little boy I was at first afraid to ride the haunted Mansion ride but when the ride started I wasn't afraid anymore i enjoyed the entire ride and now I'm A huge fan of the haunted Mansion franchise
One day i go to that ride wen i was 4 years old im 7 years old now i was not scared i was just normaly sitting like a good boy and i thit it logit :) i dont get scared that easy like pewdiepie he get scared really easy but good ride
Areej Jawaid The one in Paris is, in my opinion, a much scarier ride. Although it's still on Disney levels (so it's not nightmare material), just the exterior is very chilling and the ride itself is less playful and a lot darker than all the other Haunted Mansion rides. Mainly its atmosphere is just a lot creepier. I'd say go check out some videos of it and decide for yourself (it's called Phantom Manor in Paris).
