A new documentary on pre-code horror, science fiction, and crime comic books of the 1950s, HAUNTED THRILLS explores the lesser known publishers and titles of the era and spotlights the writers and artists who made it happen.
Haunted Thrills features exclusive interviews with pre-code artists Everett Raymond Kinstler, Joe Sinnott, and Victor Carrabotta. Sinnott and Carrabotta talk about working for Stan Lee and Atlas Comics in the Empire State Building with some great stories about Stan and Marvel comics legend Jack Kirby a decade before Spider-man and the Fantastic Four!
NEW book "Pre-Code Horror Comics: Original Art Edition" - www.ghostclinic...
Haunted Thrills is wrapping up its 16 month film festival run and is an official selection in 22 festivals, garnering 6 awards for Best Short Documentary Film. This doc is a companion piece to Mike Lyddon's previous feature film WITCH TALES, a horror anthology movie that adapts pre-code horror comic book stories to the screen.

Wonderful! I got to read a few pre-code horror comics in the 50's followed by the giant critter/monster ones produced by the pre Marvel creators. Once actual & (generally) done scary ones be became a available in the 70's I picked the newsstands clean. Now with seemingly everything being reprinted I am in hog heaven. Sure wish I could time travel & scoop up arms full of those original 50's creepy classics tho....🎃

These comics were a bit before my time, but I have the EC series (Tales From the Crypt, Vault of Horror, Haunt of Fear) collected in hardback volumes. I was amazed how great the artwork was, for being from the 50’s. I’ve always been curious about the output from other publishers from the time. I think Harvey has a large “best of” volume of their horror books.

Thank you, Gamina. I know some of the art goes by rather quickly but it was a practical decision on my part. I wanted to keep the doc on the short end to get into more festivals and be seen by more people, which it has. If i'd expanded it to 30 or 35 minutes it would have lost it's "short doc" status and far less people would see it. Of course, I could have gone feature length but I simply didn't have the budget.
