Thank you posting this video. I'm making this tonight and letting it chill and set all night long so it will be ready to go with the Pipkaula Short Ribs and Poi that I'll be serving 0my wife and I for supper in the next couple of nights. had Haupia at a luau and also in a fried pie at McDonald's on my first trip to Hawaii about 5 years ago and I really liked it along with the cuisine. I've especially been missing Hawaii over the past little while and been making Hawaiian foods for my wife and I since she has never had a chance to travel to Hawaii nor try any of the foods and I wanted to introduce her to them since I'm taking her to Waikiki for our anniversary in October.
Aloha and mahalo, I just used your recipe and did half of recipe for the coconut layer and used the same half recipe and added 1/2 cup chocolate chips while cooking pudding using the half recipe and layered the chocolate version on the bottom of my glass dish then topped with the coconut pudding layer, in the morming I’ll cut and turn over so chocolate is the top which looks smoother for appearances, then will sprinkle with shredded coconut I toasted earlier. 👍👍👍 Ps I just subscribed and hit notification for all 😎
so push the saranwrap on top of the haupia....make sure you get it down into the corners.....this keeps it from forming a skin on top of the haupia............when you take it out of the dish, invert the haupia so the the bottom is the top and it is beautifully smooth!
Haupia, layered it with cheesecake etc... ... interesting - we have "hopia" in the Philippines, which is a sweet pastry flaky crust and filled with sweet mung bean or mongo bean paste. super like 21
