Loved John Dehner on the Doris Day Show. "Mmmmmmyellow," he would say whenever he would answer the phone.

1) That's a nice guitar instrumental played during the closing titles of these episodes but I don't remember ever hearing it on the tv show. Was it composed only for the radio version? It's a lot more appealing than the song that's sung at the end of the tv episodes. 2) As for Paladin himself I like everything about him except his excessive fondness for opera. I can count the operas I really enjoy on one hand.

According to this site (classicthemes.com/oldTimeRadioThemes/radioThemeList.html), it is simply "Have Gun, Will Travel [End Credits]" by John M. Leipold. I don't believe it was ever used on the TV series, which was already well into its second season by the time this premiered. The two productions were completely separate. The first TV season used a longer version of the opening theme for the closing, then "The Ballad of Paladin" from the second season onward.

John Dehner was a good Paladin but, Richard Boone was the best.

I like both Paladins about equally. I do think Dehner had an ability to handle a wider range of roles though.
