Yes, I agree. It's a little known fact that Miles worked for a certain Intelligence Agency many years back and I had the pleasure of being tortured by him to reveal some "information"... I CAN confirm that as he was putting charges of electricity through my bruised testicles and burning me with cigarettes, his ubiquitious laughter guaranteed I had a lovely time all the same.

It is alleged that his daughter is using money from his foundation for her own gain. Like a spa and proceeds from 3 books he wrote. They say the book deal was not part of the foundation, and the money is rightfully theirs.
@joechapman8208
@joechapman8208 10 месяцев назад
Captain Tom was an elderly veteran who raised large sums of money during the Coronavirus lockdown by walking laps of his garden, shortly before his death at the age of 100. His daughter and son-in-law were trustees of the charitable funds, large amounts of which they spent on themselves (excessive salaries, curious itemisation of expenses, and they simply kept all the merch profits). The charity paid a strangely high bill for office rentals and phone bills to Maytrix Group Limited. You'll never guess who owns Maytrix Group Limited. They were caught when the daughter attempted to pay herself a block of £100k, which was stopped because the Charity Commission has rule that prevents paying out a sum higher than 13% of the charities total income for their first accounting period for any reason. More than that, the rules are that trustees - as executors - shouldn't receive any remuneration from a charity, and should only receive reasonable reimbursement for expenses or if the trustee provides professional services above and beyond their trustee position, a consideration with is made on a case by case basis. It seems that she hadn't known this rule, as she immediately resigned from her trustee position and then registered herself as an employee instead, in order to be paid the money as a worker. She lacked the skills for such a high salary in a charity role, and the charity was not big enough to be paying the levels of salary she was establishing. This whole area is interesting because any accountant could have told her about the trustee rule in the first place, which suggests they deliberately didn't involve an accountant in structuring the charity. Why would you fail to do that, unless perhaps you didn't want anyone to see? They did take out 11 trademarks on Captain Tom's names, though. Eyebrows were also raised after they built an entire spa, complete with its own toilets and kitchen, in the grounds of their Grade-II-listed home without planning permission, leading to the intervention of the local authority and demands for them to dismantle it. The family insists no charitable funds were spent on the spa. Just one of those coincidental spas you sometimes build while you're sucking cash from your dead father's charity, I guess. The family appeared in a Piers Morgan interview this week to see if a public confession, tears, and claims of receiving death threats (the last refuge of the 21st century scoundrel) would be an acceptable currency to buy public favour before the Charity Commission completes its report. Captain Tom's daughter also claimed, with no evidence, that her father wanted her to keep all the profits from the three books he wrote. It won't surprise you to know that the books made much more money than all of the other merch put together: a figure somewhere north of £800k.
