Dara O Briain and Hugh Dennis look back at the week’s news for the very last time in the company of Angela Barnes, Alasdair Beckett-King, Rhys James, Zoe Lyons and Ahir Shah.
@@VideoNozoki Made so many James Bond jokes that he starred in one, predicted Russians invading Ukraine, Dec hosting a show solo, COVID-19 and Charles becoming King. They stopped the show to make sure he doesn't predict anymore.
"Ironic that even though we've been canceled, we might still last longer than Liz Truss"😂 I've watched this show forever and so sad that it's no longer around to make sense of the current political BS. Kudos to Dara, Hugh and crew for showing the world as it truly is.
But that opening clip worked at *several levels* . Not only did the show last longer after that photo than 'the lettuce' It featured Jeremy Hunt. Ironic as *'Jeremy Hunts' is cockney rhyming slang for the 💩s at the BBC who cancelled the show* (Although *Reece was right on the money too* with 'If its older than 17 years'.......... )
It was ironic and true. The show was recorded on the Tuesday, aired on the Thursday but Truss was out on the Wednesday so right at the end, they managed to outlive her.
(BBC announcement): "If you've been affected by the cancellation of this program or other bad decisions made by Johnson, Truss and Sunak, contact BBC public relations."
But those old episodes are timeless. In many cases, some distance from the events in the news makes the jokes even funnier. Go back and enjoy. That should keep you busy for a while….
Sad, it is gone, but this episode really demonstrates the collapse of comedic talent this show attracted. Would of been nice if they had pulled out the stops for the final episode and got some decent people on
I'm sure you're not meant to cry at comedy panel shows but Mock the Week has been such a huge part of my life since I was 15, to see it end is heartbreaking.
One of arguably the greatest shows to grace British TV. A show I've watched for years and such a shame it's come to an end. Huge thank you to Dara, Hugh, Andy, Frankie and everyone who has appeared over the years. Won't be the same without it!
I can't believe I'm watching this almost a whole year later, and I'm still emotionally and tearing up? Thankful for the people who upload the episodes here on RU-vid, true heroes :)
Rhys James really channeled the spirit of Frankie Boyle with that last joke I think. It's a shame it's ending, there would have been some great material in the coming weeks.
Did you know he wrote and directed a beautiful shitty little series called 15 stories high about a couple blokes in a tower block... Sean didn't deserve to go so early, neither did Norm Macdonald, but genius only last so long. I'm extremely thankful for the time they gave us.
The quip about the BBC and seventeen year olds was brilliant..... Great show.... and it only took 10 episodes for me to figure out what Dara was saying.
'.... and it only took 10 episodes for me to figure out what Dara was saying.' 🤣Imagine Dallas, his Dublin accent is, quite seriously, one of the clearest you're ever going to get!
This show has launched literally dozens of British comedy careers, and it's been a fantastic avenue for young comedians. It has to be the first TV credit for so, so many people who have gone on to be big names. It's a real shame for the future of British comedy that it's gone.
Hearing Hugh say 'we've been cancelled' broke my heart; this show got me back into comedy and kept me laughing through some really tough times. I'll miss it❤
I don't often make comments on RU-vid but deeply saddened to see such a brilliant show end! The UK is going through much turmoil and much more so without Mock of the Week!
This wonderful show was never easy to watch from the US, but back in the days when proxy servers worked with I-player, my wife and I laughed through it every week. After she died four years ago, I stopped trying. Having this pop up on RU-vid tonight was an unexpected joy, like a chance to say goodby to old friends. Thanks for the laughs and the great memories.
i'm genuinely quite upset that this amazing show is ending... but i've enjoyed every minute of it and i'll be rewatching it as often as i can! thank you for uploading the episodes so that all of us non-uk fans can watch.
I'm from the US and the ending of this show genuinely hurts my heart. Much love and thanks to all the people who were on Mock the Week. It will be sorely missed. It was genuinely one of the best shows on telly that I've ever seen. Too many hilarious moments to count. I looked forward to every series over the last 9 years since discovering the programme. I've appreciated every show. Thanks to Ovid for posting this show and hopefully they get to stay on RU-vid for posterity. Countless thanks from Albuquerque, NM USA. Cheers! ❤️🍻
American here as well. I just found out about this show about a year ago, and I've watched it every week on youtube since then. What a shame that this show is going away...PUTIN WINS AGAIN.
I live in the US, and I somehow stumbled upon this series on RU-vid back when I was in high school in like 2008. I have adored this show ever since, and while some jokes didn't always land for me (at least not without some proper research cause of that cultural difference), it never failed to leave me in stitches. Thank you so much everyone who helped make Mock o' the Week possible, and I hope Data enjoys having the free time to become the actual Megabus mascot 🤣
I use to watch this with my granddad before he passed. I rediscovered it a couple years ago and it felt like I was watching it with him. Thank you so much for giving us some great laughs.
Just watched latest "have I got news for you"(April 21st 2023) Why on earth did they keep that tired old show and get rid of Mock the Week - aunty beeb is nuts...you're by far the better show!
Can’t believe that it’s over. What were the BBC thinking? Life and the news is grim enough these days, but MTW has always brought a bit of cheer and lots of laughter to lighten the heart and soul!
In our current times of so much doom and gloom, these comedians and shows like this are absolutely necessary and shouldn’t be cancelled! Thank you so much for all the endless giggles over the years, man of the show goes to Hugh Dennis, for me. Never fails to make me laugh!
I just discovered this show three years ago and I can't believe it's over. When Dara said goodnight for the last time, the last buzzer and Hugh saying goodbye, I felt like crying
@@JoeScottish when frankie Boyle left I stopped watching after the end of series 7. Series 1 and 2 they were still getting into it. But 3-7 was amazing!
I'm disappointed in the BBC for canceling Mock the Week. But the show had a great run. I live in the US and I want to thank you Ovid for posting the show for everyone who wanted to watch it.
That show was one of a kind. Its been part of my childhood and always felt like a family I could come back to, to have a laugh. Will truly miss everyone of the comedians on here, especially Hugh, Ed, Frankie, Milton and the rest. Thanks for all the years of laughter 😀
I clicked on this video, because I thought this would just be another fun show I can watch all afternoon and ABK just shows up out of nowhere! Did not expect him, but I‘m very happy to see him!
One of many Canadian fans, grateful for the sanity retained from countless insane moments and brilliant guests. Special thanks to Dara, Hugh, Ed and Frankie. You will be missed!
This is it, The Best Era of British comedy is closing to an end, It was a blast watching all the best comedy shows, but there will be nothing funnier than the old, amazing shows. And it is a shame that the world is going softer than a scone. Goodbye Mock the Week, We will miss you lots.
Things are truly grim when a kingdom starts killing its jesters. This show acted as a critical, nuanced, hilarious, and much-needed filter for the bad faith, bad games, and bad propaganda driving us into psychosis and still fueling our collective apocalypse. I loved and will cherish Mock of the Week (and watch all the compilations!) Thank you to everyone throughout the years for this gem of a show, all the best for the future -- such as it will be 💖
It's going because it no longer gets any where near the amount of viewers it had. There are plenty of other places to get topical comedy and the BBC alone has plenty.
@@IlikeTrainsguy100 Well, it would seem that others disagree with you on that which is why the viewership was dwindling. If everyone always got to keep their favourite show none would be cancelled and 30% of your taxes would go to the BBC for their 150 channels full of shows that few watch but can never be cancelled.
@@georgeiii2998 I respectfully disagree with both of those statements. It's a decent show but nowhere near as funny or entertaining. It's way too serious and cautious, not to mention it seems very uptight in places and gets boring quite easily. Mock The Week was non-stop laughs from start to finish, no scripting, not afraid to speak their mind or tell slightly risky jokes for fear of being cancelled etc. That's because they used actual comedians, not just random politicians and celebrities nobody has heard of or cares about. The team captains on Have I Got News For You are great but other than that, very hit or miss.
As an American, this was a show that introduced me to so many funny and talented comedians from the United Kingdom that I would never have gotten to see. It will be greatly missed.
I am not the least bit ashamed to say I shed a tear at the end of this episode. I gained a great appreciation for this wonderful brand of British humor. I hope it comes back soon.
It nearly got me. Hugh is my favourite so to see him emotional nearly got me going. Mock the week has been around longer than all of my nieces and nephews. I will end up watching the compilations but it's sort of deflating knowing it's no longer there.
I'm really sad that this show is ending and will miss it so much but give thanks to those who made the show happen. I actually paused the video to read the card Rhys gave Dara and I do hope he's on Taskmaster some day. I also find it hilarious he doesn't know how to spell his own name, lmao.
I did exactly the same thing and had a laugh about his little joke about people always writing his name wrong, I would love to see him and so many other great comedians who came on MTW on Taskmaster.
This merry crowd has been my society, isolated in a foreign country while Covid took its toll in my own, and I must say I do not regret getting to know them all, their various takes on comedy, it's been a delightful ride I might not have duplicated otherwise, and which has kept me from sinking into a deep depression, kept otherwise from everything I hold dear. Thanks, folks ! And thanks RU-vid.
The show couldnt replace Frankie Boyle. He always made me laugh the hardest. But Ed Byrne did well too when he and Dara went at it. A fan from Denmark is sad we won't have more adventures. But I was very happy with the ones we got. I hope you all do well.
Genuinely sad to see this show end! I remember when I was at school and it first started, I remember saying to some mates "have you seen that new thing called Mock the Week?"... gradually everyone started watching it and we all thought it was genius. It's like losing an old friend. Great show - will miss it.
3:46-3:54 Talk about a timely joke. Wish Mock the Week could see all the love and support for their years of entertainment. I hope it'll be back in another format.
Well, at least they went out with a banger. Zoe Lyons looking very dapper and bringing some good commentary, Alisdair being delightfully surreal, Ahir with some biting comments, Rhys and his sarcasm, Angela with some banging one-liners, and of course Hugh and Dara bringing their all at the end. I especially liked the KKK joke.
A good joke with the sad truth about it that making fun of racists is the one thing that will still get you cancelled, no matter what all the wankers, whining about "cancel culture" pretend.
I can't believe an episode of "Mock the Week" could make me cry, but here we are. As an American, I have spent many years saying to myself, every time my country screws up, "What will the MTW gang have to say about this?" Goodbye to you all, Megabus, Penis Sausage, Monsoon Poultry Hospital, Prince Charles' Official Harpist, Private Browsing...but they're all here on RU-vid to enjoy over and over.
I loved MTW back in the day, but for me it was never the same after Frankie Boyle left. I’ve watched periodically since then, but I never found it as brilliant as the early days!
Here in sunny Fort Lauderdale, Florida, my world just became a little darker because this wonderful show has ended. Thank you, Dara and Hugh for being there week after week. And thank you to the guests who are too numerous to mention for all the joy you have brought to my life. I am very saddened to see this end.
Every single show is the exact same so you can just watch them all over again. My mother and father been doing same with other things on the TV now for three or more decades.
@@brandymaboy1979 wasn't aimed at you bud, glad to hear it though, it's edgy drivel for people who think saving a bit of tax is edgy, it's very far from the edge and very safe in the middle of the coffee table, yown, bore fest
Absolutely gutted it's over. Such a fantastic series, I'm gunna really miss it. I know I'm not alone in it. Super emotional episode, even though everyone managed to keep smiling and laughing. Thank you everyone on the series, the production crew and everyone else involved. You've been fantastic.
@@chrismassey9892 we all know that. None of us have stopped our lives and stayed in bed because it's over. Doesn't mean we can't feel that we enjoyed it and would have enjoyed hearing what they had to say about the insanity that still passes for politics etc.
A tragedy . To have this show cancelled is the reflection of the corrupt irrelevance we live in. Mock the Week is irreplaceable. Thank you so much for turning unbearable endless political horrors inti something we dare laugh at for the sake of our sanity ! Will miss you heaps!
one of the best most unwinding shows I've had the pleasure of watching over the years, it'll be sorely missed. It makes me realise one day QI and Have I got News for You may well be gone.
I am a US viewer, and will miss you all very much. It’s truly sad, the irony of this exceptional program ending when there is so much comedy happening in Parliament. Thank you my friends for years of the silly, satiric, funny, poignant and thoughtful. Most people would not believe that a panel show like this one could showcase talent so well.
Ten years of watching on two different computers, 3 iPhones and a friend's TV. You've entertained me through a lot of stuff, both worldwide and personal; and while I understand shutting down before things get TRULY boring, but I'm gonna miss this show.
I'm in the States and love panel shows, and this is one of my favorites to get a sense of what's going on _slightly_ outside the US media bubble. It's just fun, really. Britain is so quaint.
It's nice to see panel shows with comedians and there's no prize for the contestant or major season award. It's just jokes and news, and that's it. Closest thing the US has was Whose Line?
I am in tears over this show ending. It has been one of the joys of my life, to keep up with my British cousins through laughter at the news. The best of British comedians have shared their wit and sometimes their twisted wisdom with me, through this show. Thank you, Dara, and Hugh, and all the comedians and comediennes on Mock the Week. I will miss you dearly.
I'm really going to miss Mock The Week! Everyone involved with the show have consistently done an incredible job over the years. I'll miss Hugh and Dara the most, but wow, I have so many memories of the show 😭
I’ll miss this show so much. After I tried improv one year (a little 8 week course) I got a real taste of how talented all the guests really are, and it made me appreciate some of those ZINGERS they come up with. Hugh Dennis deadpan delivery always a favourite. Seeya later Mock the Week, thanks for the laughs! ❤️
the weeks were getting too dark to mock. In these desperate times we need all of you, so it's a shame to see you go, but thank you so much for the many years of joy!
When I moved to the US from Scotland for work six years ago, British panel shows like Mock the Week helped with the homesickness. I was genuinely a little teary watching this come to an end. Thanks for all the laughs and for keeping me sane when I moved to America five days before Trump got elected ✌️
Me and my friends would watch this show during breaks in high school absolutely pishing ourselves. Then watched with uni friends and then with my wife throughout the years. It’s honestly end of an era! Thank you for all the laughs!
I started watching this show when I was studying abroad in London in 2017 and instantly fell in love. It has kept me sane, especially hearing a non-American, funnier-than-American perspective on the fuckery is going on here. I will always be grateful to Dara and Hugh and the many many comedians I found because of this show, and to Ovid for posting it. Alexa, play Prints. :')
