Kia ora from New Zealand! I'm Donnalouise - a puzzled puzzler puzzling puzzles who is practicing for the 2024 Masters Games here in Dunedin, New Zealand. I will be teaming up with Alison, Valmai and Wendy as well as doing the individual event. I redo a puzzle that I did nearly exactly one year ago - do you think I've gotten faster? I so agree with you, the picture quality is so important. For the first time, that I can remember, I had to stop a 2000 piece Ravensburger because the rocky hill along the water was so blurry, it was near impossible to do. I didn't even have the heart to donate it. I didn't want to torture anyone with it.

I have also had puzzles that I felt guilty donating or selling on because I didn't enjoy them. Blurry images are the worst for me.

Great Timelapses. I think more and more now that speed puzzling is a physical activity. that tests your endurance. And your mind is also at work. I can’t tell you how exhausted I get after sitting fot 4 hours straight to complete a 500 piece puzzle and I am not even speed puzzling, I just started puzzling last year 😅

We have been practicing all weekend for tomorrow and I can tell you that my back is so sore! My eyes! My heads! Endurance indeed!! And we are all so tired. It can be mentally exhausting. We love it though!

I am so dependent on the puzzle image - some I just can't do well fast but then others I feel so fast at. Practice has definitely improved me.

This compilation was a great thing to watch. The teamwork became very apparent, and you all learned a lot in cooperation. What an amazing, diverse selection of puzzles to test your puzzling prowess. I love the Ravensburger West Coast Tranquility Puzzle. I had bought it before you all went to Spain. When I saw that it was one that was to be used in competition, I knew I had good taste. I enjoyed watching all of you assembling this one -- it is actually artwork (not photos) by the artist. Gorgeous -- one I'm keeping in my collection to do again. The eeBoo puzzle that you tackled was amazing -- did the glossy finish of this one bother any of you? The Holiday Ornament Puzzle by eeBoo that I did about drove me crazy -- I could only work on it for short periods of time and it took me 21 days(!) to finish it. I hated it by the end and shipped it away to a friend who lives almost 1,500 miles away. (I never want to see it again.) Congrats on your improved times for puzzling -- practice does help your speed. I love your positivity, too.

eeBoo is glossier than I would like. We did another one recently as well and with the lighting, it was tricky. Don't you just love getting rid of a puzzle that you didn't enjoy?? 🤣🤣 I do!!!

We did a really tough image today but then a fun 500 piece one just to chill. I think we are as prepared as we could be for tomorrow.

@@LogicMasterSteve Spoiler - if you thought the team puzzle was brutal, the individual one was next level torture...yeah, that's an appropriate word to describe it. It will be a very interesting recap video. I'm working on it and hope to have it up next week. So stay tuned!

in Italy to bring good luck we say "in bocca al lupo" and you reply " viva il lupo", which means "in the mouth of the wolf" and the translation of the reply is "long live the wolf"

Congrats on the great times! :D Also, wow, that Copenhagen puzzle you're going to do has got to be the least colorful picture I've ever seen of Nyhavn. Come on, the entire reason it's famous is because the buildings are colorful!

The pieces of the puzzle are a lot darker but not great. It's not all that appealing and in fact, I didn't end up doing it. Kept finding other puzzles to do instead. The image on the puzzle definitely does not do the location justice.

@@fortheloveofpuzzles Completely understand skipping it. If you still want to practice with a version of that place, Ravensburger has made a puzzle of it in their Scandinavian Places series that was used for teams in Worlds 2022. :) Much better colors.
