The Gombey is an iconic symbol of Bermuda. Very much the national treasure of the island. Gombey unique performances in the form of artistic expression that echoes back to times of slavery. Their outfits are colorful. Masks vibrant. An elegant intricate masquerade, as they dance to iconic drumming. This folk tradition reflects the island's blend of Native American, African, Caribbean and British cultures.
Ever since I was little I’ve always wanted to be a Gombey. So it just felt right to make a video about them. If you ever visit Bermuda I promise you won’t be disappointed by the flair, energy, and artistic expression that comes from the various Gombey troupes.
