You can't trap it if it already touched the board. He made contact with the ball before it touched the board and trapped it. Also though he made contact with the rim it didn't effect the shot or the block. No ref is calling that.
@@tobysrey7117every rule is gonna have a certain amount of discretion given to the ref. Yes he certainly touched the rim, but since it has no impact on the play the ref likely took discretion and had a no call, which is the right thing to do.
No he is saying that he didnt palm the bal against the backbord. He pressed down the ball so it wouldn't like hit the backbord and fly behind him. Plus he touched the net or the rim idk
@@bluezman People have been pinning the ball against the backboard like that since forever. We're going by the calls the refs make on a constant basis not your little rule book. Go talk to the refs about choosing what to enforce if that's actually illegal
Wrong answer, the ball was not on the decline, so it was not a goal tend. You can pin the ball against the BB. You are allowed to touch the rim to brace your fall.
@@gahanmodule7378You’re not allowed to touch the rim if the ball is above it even if the ball isn’t going in and someone blocks it while it’s above the rim or touch’s the rim it’s a goal tend
As a former ref the rule is you can’t touch the ball when it’s in a downward trajectory. You can touch it on the way up you can trap it against the glass, but I’ve never noticed the rim touch.
It was a block. Ball didn't hit the backboard first nor was it coming down. LeBron didn't hold it against the backboard either. He hit it against which is allowed. His hand never stopped to hold the ball against the backboard and the ball was allowed to bounce off. If you don't know sh*t, don't talk so matter-of-factly. That's just misinformation.
No it's legal. You hit the ring with his left hand. If he held it that would be illegal. Also "A batted ball against the backboard is not a trapped ball"
@@PlugOfHarlem crazy cuz that one chip in 2016 was worth more than all those three you guys had the best record in NBA HISTORY AND WERE UP 3-1. THREE TO ONE. That is the biggest choke ever recorded 🤣
@@NBAClient in what crazy world of yours is winning ONE RING more important or better then winning THREE RINGS . Like I said we won 2015 , 2017 and SWEPT LEBRON In 2018 4-0 😂.
This is like the most replayed NBA clip of all time. There's an angle that shows his fingers on the ball and there's a gap between the ball and the backboard
For the trapped ball to be called, the ball would have needed to be released sooner, he got the ball as Iggy was releasing. Also from my understanding of the goaltending rules, rim contact is only prohibited if the ball is on the rim or if the hand/arm is somehow prohibiting the ball from going in. Honestly I’d say it’s clean.
The ball has to touch the backboard first to be ruled a goaltend, he blocks it just a blip prior to that , secondly he blocks it a blip prior to touching the rim, therefore its not a shot at that point its a loose ball so touching the rim doesnt matter at that point sooooo"block by jamesssss"
Oh yeah, just like how Mikes legendary game 6 ankle breaker and midrange jumper to win the finals in 98 was a pushoff bcuz he barely touched the hem of his defenders shorts
Warriors fan here. And this is not actually a goaltend. Players are allowed to pin the ball against the backboard unless the ball hits the backboard first. Lebron was very lucky to get there in time and it was a millisecond away from being a goaltend. However, it was a perfectly legal block. This footage also haunts my dreams as a Warriors fan. And the Kyrie dagger 🙁
POV: your still mad at the ref for calling a goaltend that wasn’t even a goaltend and didn’t even effect the results of the game 7, and notice how the commentator didn’t say anything about a goaltend period The score would have been 93-91if he didn’t block it
When I said this on Facebook years ago I canNOT tell how many Lebronians told me I was crazy!! 😂😂😂 It was clearly goaltending! ANYBODY who is true to the game and NOT just their favorite player winning, can see that!
Playing above the rim is completely legal, goal tending is a rule that was made to stop players from denying shots that are already falling into the rim, for example I take a three point shot and as it is falling lebron jumps and puts his hand over the rim to block it. That's goal tending.
Lmao I’m a Warriors fan and that wasn’t a goaltend. He blocked it before it touched the backboard, and pinned it against it with his hand. He touched it just as it was being released upwards towards the basket, it was not in the cylinder, or even descending. Any contact with the rim is incidental and after the shot, additionally, it does not affect the rim in the ways described under the rules against basket interference or affect the shot.
This is like calling Jordan’s iconic shot a push off. No one would ever have the audacity to make that call. We’re talking about the last moments of game 7. Goal tend for touching the rim after the block?
it isn’t a goaltend. it’s only a goaltend if the ball hits the backboard and then his hand. Simply pinning it against the backboard if it hasn’t hit it yet isn’t illegal it’s just a good block
The goaltend occurred when the GSW Player attemped the layup, the 🏀 touched the backboard before LeBron pinned it. Resulting in a goaltend ... that wasn't called. 🤔
lol that wasn’t a goaltend, it wasn’t trapping because he hit the ball before it hit the backboard and he barely grazed the rim, that rule is there so you can’t shake the rim to make a shot miss, what are you smoking? 😂
