Have you ever seen Zucchini growing on the terrace with so many fruits? 

What type of seeds did you use

My squash gets that powdery stuff on the leaves and then it dies.

Also there’s sprays you can find to get rid of powdery mildew .

The summer is really just getting going for these things - at least where I live. Don't give up!

I'm having to self pollinate also...lack of bees is scary. Just keep on, keeping on. Feeding wildlife is a good thing. Lol. Late start this year, Spring was wonky.

Don’t give up. I started gardening for the first time this year and I had nothing but one bee. I had a o self pollinate myself as well. I just brought more flowers to attract bees and finally I have so many bees. My squash and zucchini produces more male’s females also.I wonder how her’s produce so many females

Когда не было у меня участка под огород, выращивала на балконе. Давно было. Пользовалась удобрением "Идеал". Росло всё: и огурцы, и томаты, и кабачки, и земляника, и редис, и зелень росла разная.

Those are Zucchinis, they don't vine like other squashes. they only grow about one to two feet tall.

I planted 4 different kind even a round zucchini, they grow no more than 3 feet but most are about 2 feet tall. I don't know your location but I buy the seeds from our local store like Walmart, Lowes or home depot. the seeds packets should even have pictures on it or it should indicate on the label how long the plant should be.

They have two types of blooms, males and females, if they produces only males one, it means they are stressed or temperature is too low or too high. They stops if there are more than 30 celsius. They also stops producing females (fruits) if they don't get "bees", if they don't get food from the terrain, if they don't get enought water, and if powdery mildew attacks too much. In other words it isn't easy like the video shows. If you got female blooms but they don't grow, it can be missing bees or other similar insects, or to few water, or terrain is poor. To grow squashes, you need a very good terrain. Need 2.5kg to 5kg of "bovine manure" per plants! Or 0.5 kg of "pelleted cow manure", or similar nutrients. Bokashi is also a good helper, but need to work the terrain months before growing squash. So the secret into the video is for sure the terrain.

I had to cross pollinate myself because of lack of pollinators.

I use a small paintbrush to pollenate mine. That way you can be assured they will grow fruit. If you're feeling whimsical, put on your butterfly wings first.....

Do you see more male flowers than female? This is my first year and I have that issue. Then, if you don't have enough bees or other pollinating insects, I think it's hard. I've gotten only one zucchini so far!

@@littleredhen2894 take an artist paint brush & pollenate by hand. Flowers normally open in mornings.

@@dmariewalker6880 That's wonderful! I have what I believe are chipmunks sampling mine (I never see them, but I find teethmarks). I've read online that there are different natural things you can spray to deter them (they don't like the smell, like cayenne pepper powder mixed with water), but, I don't want to drive off any bees or other pollinating creatures. Have you had a problem with chipmunks and other small animals?
