yea I knew about this, but I also detail cars lol. clay bars are awsome. try a clay pad for a DA polisher and use it in your windows and then use a glass polisher and polishing pad and your have the clearest glass you've ever seen, hard to tell there's even a peice of glass there
razor blade and glass cleaner works, only need clay bar for acid rain and usually razor takes that off also. polishing glass why for what. if it's scratched buy a new one
@@ultimateflyful nah, a razor blade doesn’t work as well for glass prep… plus it increases the risk of scratching. You can remove many scratches in glass with sandpaper and cerium oxide, no point in replacing it unless it’s badly cracked
@@rot_v I got a problem with scratching on the inside, I believe it's from the previous owners use of paper towels or something, and it makes the windows fog up super easy... Do you think there's anything I can do about it? Thanks...
@@abealvarado17 I did auto glass. In fact many of my family members still do. We always used razors. You know how long it would take to scratch glass with a razor. You need glass to scratch glass. Or diamonds etc etc. it would take forever. In fact look at old cars that haven’t had door glass replacements. Look very close, you’ll see faint scratches where the window went up and down a million times. That took so long to do that. Not just one pass.
People don't realize how much crap builds up on a windshield and the wipers cause microscratches that end up causing permanent hazing. After you bar your windshield and get it clean as possible go ahead and use Rain-X products to protect it from build up and prevent streaking. You can also wax the windshield well which will help insulate the glass surface as well.
@@Maaaaaax-07 Actually, in my experience, it's not. When you clean your window correctly and treat it with rain-x, it sheds water well, doesn't get spotted so bad in cold weather and using the anti-fog inside keeps the fog down. My body shop guy (very talented/respected) swears by it. Maybe you're not doing something right or applying it often enough. But thanks. We all have experience and opinions of our own
@@MisterFuturtastic Rain x AFTER wax will dissolve wax. They have isopropanol, acetone, butane, and other non polar hydrocarbons. Maybe he means putting on the wax AFTER you put on the rain x?
I always clay windows... They collect contanimation like anything else does. Except I don't use clay, I use the synthetic clay mitt because I do a high volume of cars, and its more effiecient for me. Still works very well. Then I top it off with graphene to maximize protection and beadage
I've always cleaned and waxed car glass. I do like rain-x in some cases. In many cases your windsheild and wipers are simply dirty. With a pair of quality wiper blades currently at $50 or more keeping everything clean is more valuable than ever.
Also, clean blades with alcohol than spray RainX on them! They will last much longer help the windshields and save the $50.! Clean windows and wax them!
Just saying, that sprayway brand glass cleaner you're using will cut through almost anything if you let it sit for a minute or two. I use it on my windshield when I get gas and use the sponge/squeegee to scrub and squeegee it off. I worked in the oilfield for over a decade and that glass cleaner has a 1000 uses. I've use it as hand cleaner, used it to clean up a deep cut I got on a location(you'll definitely feel the burn if you do that), it'll clean paraffin/crude oil off as well. I use it in the house as well. Works great on counter tops and stoves as well
I prefer the purple clay bars all around but use the gray ones on cars with more expensive paint and just take a little more time, but I strongly advise you just get a few cheap squeegee for cleaning glass, I wrap a paper towel or mixro fiber around the handle and also wipe excess from blade, but it not only saves on paper but the results are instant beauty!
I'd suggest you use what professional Glazers aka glass installers use to clean their products. Newspapers and various glass clears like Peak or Windex. Newspaper is a lint free paper that will clean streak free
I found out from professional glass cleaner that their magic recipe is dawn dish soap and water. Leaves zero streaks also. Been using it ever since on any window, works amazing.
@@brianb5779 I discovered this as well. I put dawn and water in a spray bottle and apply it and work it in with a magic easer and wipe up excess using a quality waffle weave towel. Then I finish it off by misting isopropyl alcohol and drying / buffing with a fresh waffle weave towel. I do this inside and out, but it especially works very well on the interior windshield to get rid of all of the haziness from gasses being release from the interior materials.
Yes this actually works; however, I use 0000 steel wool (or finer) it works great! Just Do Not Ever use Brillo nor SOS pads, they are coarse steel wool and Will scratch your windows!! Or better yet use the steel wool first then clay bar right after!! Lastly if you have Window Tint applied to your windows Do Not Use on inside as it Will Destroy your tint film!
@@Alexander_l322 no. I’m sure I could scratch it if I tried but light pressure with an sos pad makes it all look new. Remember it’s Not a good idea for mirrors or chrome. Ask me how I know 😂
@@Formerlywarmer mirrors have an aluminum front surface which can be scratched. This is why there is no ghost image. Old mirrors with silver on the back surface have a ghost image.
I've recently switched to a basic vinegar and water solution on all my windows. It cuts through the gunk, it's cheap, and I always have it on hand. When using glass cleaner, try wiping it off with newspaper... NOT the glossy stuff.
I don't know what this is about, but invisible glass spray foam and wiping it off with newspaper is my favorite way to clean windows. Use to have a window in a sunroom people would keep walking into because the door looked like it was open the glass was so clean.
Years ago I was a butcher in the UK, we would use newspaper to clean the fat and grease deposits that would build up on the inside of the window glass as well as the glass fronted display cabinets. I laughed at my boss the first time he told me to do it, I thought he was hazing the newguy( there was a lot of it going on😂). But after getting my elbow into it I was amazed when the glass became the cleanest and clearest you could imagine . I tell you, we've forgotten how to do more things better than we've come up with better alternatives .
He wasnt wrong. Its just horrible for your glass. It leaves major scratches. On the flipside,the ink from the newspaper along with the material and glass cleaner are actually perfect for a streak free shine.@OtissSpunkmeyer
Another thing, many times, while applying wax, I just waxed all of the windows and it works excellently. Just like rain-x. Which is also a top-notch product.
Use super fine steel wool and a lot of soap for lubrication. I've been doing it for years and years and it always cleans my glass excellently. Kind of like taking a razor blade to a sticker on glass. Just keep it wet and soaped up for lubrication and it will work every time. Let your steel wool go dry and you will definitely scratch your glass. Be careful
@@exibuchay1695 just don't use anything like this on the interior of the glass unless you know for sure no aftermarket tint has been applied (even the dealers will add tint to make a sale) as even the clay bar will destroy it (just fogging it requires replacement of the tint!
always clay the windows when claying the car. ceramic coat for a more permanent way of keeping dirt and water spots off...windows stay hydrophobic and only need a rinseless dampened microfiber followed by a wipe off with a waffle-weave to clean. never streak again.
Umm..I haven't washed my truck since March. It just clicked 12k miles. I do need a Oil change. Bought it new in 20. Think its been washed 3 times? I live in the country. Its on gravel roads everyday. The gmc 6.2 doesn't seem to mind.
The former owner of my truck went to town with RainX or some other kind of "window protectant". 8 years later, I still can't get that junk off. Not even with a razor blade.
@@bromodz2309 Can’t scrape it off with a razor blade, not coming off with cerium oxide, Mequires Professional number 1 did get some of it off, but it’s work, a lot off pressure on the pad/drill.
I use 0000 steel wool soaked in soapy water on a wet windshield. Afterward, I wash the car to make sure that no steel wool pieces have landed on the car, which would rust and stain the paint.

I sprayed some turtle wax ice spray and shine on my windshield after a carwash..... That stuff is hard to clean lol. Im going to try some 50/50 alcohol water mix
The inside of your windshield shouldn't have the dirt and contaminants that the outside does. Probably better going with a foam glass cleaner and a microfiber. Claying on the inside would make a mess.
