Batman Beyond is extremely well known. It's basically the sequel to Batman: The Animated series, which was the most popular animated Batman TV show, it aired back in the 90's, so that show and Beyond are VERY heavily ingrained into the childhood of 90's and 2000's kids. Spider-Man 2099 isn't anywhere near as well known, as I think it's biggest exposure was in a game called Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. Which was a game from 2010 that was basically a crossover between four different universe versions of Spider-Man, kinda like Into The Spider-Verse was. Speaking of Into The Spider-Verse, he was actually in the post credit scene of that movie. But outside of that, he wasn't too popular or well known as far as I know.
@@theduckgoesmoo there are several actually the first I believe came out between 1963 and 1966 though the ones people mainly remember are the batman shows of the 90s and batman beyond and I do like those shows but I also have a soft spot for batman the brave and the bold since I watched it a lot when I was younger.
@@theduckgoesmoo I... Can I ask-- Is there like some particular thing you do/did that just took you away from most media for a long period of time? Like... You literally know less than my grandpa, and I'm less offended by this than Legitimately confused lol.
''How do you steal from batman?'' You can't , Bruce put a security measure on the suit to electrocute the user in case of being stolen. Terry wanted to avenge his father and Bruce let him use the suit.
@@theduckgoesmoo yes Amanda Waller organized it all behind Bruce’s back rewriting Terry’s father’s DNA with Bruce Waynes genes. She knew the world needs a batman and Bruce really isn’t the best father figure.
Batman beyond is a pretty good show. And Return of the Joker is one of my favourite Animated Batman films. Definitely worth a watch. Despite being a little dated.
@@ceruleanwalker1069 I don't get how. There are literally Batman shows coming out or still running every year since the 1960's Adam West or animated cartoons, some with the whole Justice League, and they all did well. That's why there are so many superhero toys. There's also multiple Spiderman cartoons that so the same.
Yeah, there were some great animated Batman shows. TAS, Batman Beyond, he also had a large and consistent role in the two Justice League shows (fittingly enough, considering he's a founding member of the Justice League). I honestly would recommend giving them a watch if you have the ability to do so. Batman Beyond even had a "cameo" appearance in Justice League Unlimited during a plot-line with a villain that was hopping back and forth through time and messing with both the past and future. The shows also showcase some of the lesser-known characters from Gotham, such as The Creeper & Baby-Doll. Many of Batman's villains also happen to be very tragic characters who wound up turning to crime simply because life kept screwing them over (Mr. Freeze is pretty much the best example of this).
"did they just forget that Batman exists?" uh Kyle....you do know the difference between Marvel and DC right? also Braniac is a super intelligence that often antagonizes Superman to put it into context, if every single PC, phone, etc, on earth was upgraded to match the smartest super computer we have all of those combined probably still couldnt match Braniac
@@theduckgoesmoo wanders through space, studying cultures and technologies on planets.....then he destroys those planets....save for a single city which he traps in a dome, shrinks and then stores for his "collection"
"have you heard of these two?" he writes. Oh Kyle. You sweet summer child. Spiderman 2099 I can understand but almost anyone our age who knows batman knows about Batman Beyond. Even if they're not familiar with it, they know of its existence.
I could probably ask all of my friends and I'd be surprised if any of them know of batman beyond.... I mean zero friends isn't a lot but the math is right (jk)
I mean the only reason any one would know about Spider-Man 2099 well be thanks to ether the video game Spiderman shattered dimension or appearance in the ultimate Spiderman sires and maybe the recurring reappearance in the comics.
10:12 is from an episode of the 1994 Spiderman cartoon where Peter's spider mutation began to advance further. He gradually gained more spider features (hence extra arms) and eventually transformed into a literal nightmarish Man-Spider.
"HAVE YOU HEARD OF THESE TWO?!" :sigh: Batman Beyond is basically a continuation of the old (like, 90ties and early 2000s) DC animated series (Batman Animated Series, Superman Animated Series, crossover movie somewhere in between those two, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited) and then Batman Beyond... sorta. It's the chronological order, as BB takes place in the future obviously, but there is an episode in JLU that takes place some 10 or so years after BB. It was a very good show. ... yes, we would like you to react to those, why do you even ask? :p PS: Ah, and the Spider Man 2099, I vaguely recall hearing about that one before this Death Battle but it would have been somewhere on the internet so not sure if that would count.
@@theduckgoesmoo I'm starting to think your no money for content policy is because you KNOW that enough of us would band together to pay to watch many of these classics. Seriously, how sheltered werre you from pop media.
You REALLY should have done some research on each of the fighters, it’s insulting to those that do know them. (I’m not being rude, but you can understand what I mean)
I've known both of these characters actually - have the entire Batman: Beyond series on DVD, and Spider-Man 2099 is another favorite I've kept an eye on - interesting character, and he even cameos in Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 in one level, teaming up with the original Spider-Man and Spider-Gwen in the level
i knew him first from spiderman 1 for pc and ps1. then i got the comics for him from my uncle who visited america :D best ever. and batman beyond was on tv at the time.
Bruce didn't know he was Terry's father until after he met him. They never specify when he found out or how but he did. Waller took got a blood sample from Bruce (which he left all over town in his crime fighting days) and used it to overright his father's genetic material. She actually planned to kill his parent's when Terry was 8 just like Bruce but the killer she hired (Bruce's first love) refused to do it. also he did fight the Joker and it was kind of him. In his younger days he encoded his DNA onto a microchip and secretly planted it on a Gotham Citizen and over time his personality in the chip began to take over the host's mind and body
Hey Duck you’re missing a few battles from the playlist there. You’re missing Natsu vs Ace (Fairy Tail vs One Piece) Naruto vs Ichigo(Naruto vs Bleach) Jotaro vs Kenshiro( Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure vs Fist of the North Star) Raven vs Twilight Sparkle(DC vs My Little Pony) [After Sephiroth Vs Vergil] Sora Vs Pit(Kingdom Hearts vs Kid Icarus) And from that I don’t know because I can’t see the rest of your playlist.
Death battle research doesn't show this in their analysis but I might as well bring it up as a strength feat for Batman beyond. In the show, the batsuit is hacked by a guy who's soul is on the net (long story short he died and his soul mcguffined onto a computer, bam, done) he hacks the suit while Bruce and Terry have it on a work table. And just walked it out of the bat cave....... Right through the mountain side beneath Wayne manor. Due to the design of the beyond batsuit it basically has a micro motorized skeletal structure and muscle system, which a failsafe in the suit locks it up so the wearer can not move. But due to this skeletal and muscular system in the suit, it has a mass and volume on it. The dude possessing it at the time literally walked through the stone interior of the bat cave, through to the outside, then Terry had to fight the guy with old school bat gadgets to basically jump start the failsafe manually and purge him. The FACT that the batsuit had force to lift 200tons is impressive, but being able to have the force to walk straight through the granite of the bat cave is stupid strong cranked up to 11 by comparison
7:42 "Wait, the Joker was still around?" Yeah, that whole thing is complicated. But here goes nothing. The Joker kidnapped Tim Drake who was the Robin at the time, yeah Batman had quite a few Robins. Anyway, Joker wanted a kid of his own so he took Batman's and turned Tim into a mini-Joker, it messed him up as you'd imagine. But he still had his old self in there so Tim turned on the Joker and killed him, that's right Tim did the one thing Batman couldn't, kill the Joker. Fast Forward to the future and in a sense of irony, Tim was spliced with the Joker's DNA to transform him into the new Joker, it was like a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde type of thing.
Batman Beyond is amazing and came out in 2000s. Bruce Wayne is in it but as an elderly man (and still badass). Terry is a teen but mature for his age at times and moody and rebellious without being over the top about it. He even did a cross-over with Justice League and Static Shock. It was extremely popular and only was stopped because the animators wanted to work on Justice League. Strangely, Terry is Bruce Wayne's genetic son even though Bruce didn't directly give birth to him. Amanda Walker knows some guys and did some genetic manipulation on his parents. Terry find out when he's grown up and Bruce is very old. It was a touching moment as Bruce never knew and Terry doesn't really change as he had seen Bruce as a surrogate father for quite some time. I do recommend watching the first two episodes of the series.
Before seeing this Death Battle I hadn't heard of Spiderman 2099, but I had seen a few episodes of Batman Beyond, and the 'Return of the Joker' Movie (where Terry took care of him, and to answer your question: No. The Joker himself died a long time before Batman Beyond started, the one Terry took care of was basically a replicated personality planted in a certain someone which emerged during that movie's events), granted it was many years before, but still, I was familiar with him.
Spider-Man 2099 is actually nothing like Deadpool he is actually a pretty serious character but that game had four playable Spider-Man in it and they wanted each one to be voiced by a previous Spider-Man voice actor so they changed the personality to suit the voice. Miguel has had better fitting voices since then.
*Batman Beyond* (1999-2001) takes place in the year 2039, in Neo Gotham, and originally concluded with the animated film *"Return of the Joker"* (2000). However, in 2005 the season 2 finale of Justice League Unlimited was a dedicated "Epilogue" (also the title of the episode) to Batman Beyond. The Epilogue is a flash forward to the year 2054, with Terry now being 31-worked for Bruce for 15 years. That's when he learned that he's technically the genetic son of Bruce Wayne. It's both a sad yet heart warming episode; and kind of divisive because some people didn't like Terry suddenly being Bruce's son as a result of the government using super science to alter the reproductive material of Mr McGinnis to match the genes of Bruce Wayne.
Batman Beyond is basically if Spider-Man got a Batsuit designed by Iron Man. I wait patiently for the day you react to a battle where having the speed advantage doesn't declare victory. You skipped one, so I wait for whatever the next one is.
Huh, I thought you replied to my comment in the last one that you’d be watching Naruto vs Ichigo? Eh, maybe you already filmed this one by then. I dunno, doesn’t matter either way. Ok I’m gonna half to slap you for this video title, Kyle. Just because you’re an Android that was constructed last year and have never heard of any pop culture doesn’t mean everyone else has lived under a rock until now! Batman Beyond was so brilliant, I freaking love it. There’s a lot of moments that I love even more than the original Batman animated series, it’s just that good. Ooh, there’s an idea! Maybe at some point you can react to the DC animated universe? Batman TAS, Superman TAS, Batman Beyond, and Justice League (also Static Shock which isn’t as closely linked as the other shows but still in continuity and still very good). 3:08 - funny you should say Spider-Man vibes! The best description for Terry McGinnis I ever heard was “he’s what you get if Spider-Man was actually Batman, but in the future.” Love that description. Also not actually the Jokerz, it was just made to look like they had killed his dad. This battle had such great potential, but it’s over so fast that there really wasn’t any time for the characters to show off their stuff or have any great moments of interaction. All in all it feels like a big waste at the end of the day, a filler episode they churned out to have more time to focus on the next one. Speaking of the next one… Sephiroth vs Vergil is phenomenal. Absolutely fantastic. As someone who loves Devil May Cru to an absurd degree and really really dislikes Final Fantasy (I seriously dislike everything they’ve ever done from 7 on), I can still say they approached it well and the fight animation is superb.
@@BJGvideos I’ve heard that from many people, and I’m glad that you and they get enjoyment from those games. However once they changed from 2D to 3D the switch in narrative style and storytelling just does not click with me in the slightest.
I'm going out of town this weekend so I had to record videos earlier than usual. The next video is sephiroth vs vergil and today I recorded Naruto vs ichago
I guess I'll take up the mantle of giving information about the track used in the fight The track used in this episode is called "Beyond 2099", composed by Therewolf Media (memorize the name, you'll be seeing them a LOT) According to Death battle wiki, the techno and rock used in the track signifies that they're from the future, while the name "Beyond 2099" is an obvious combination of the two superheroes' names and further signifies that they're from the future and hence different from Bruce Wayne and Peter Parker, their "predecessors" The cover art for this track is an image of Batman Beyond's batarang embedded in Spiderman 2099's webbing
Actually Batman beyond's father Warren Maginis wasn't killed by the jokerz it was Mr. Fix which was ordered by Warren's boss and the main villian of the first season Derrick Powers (who had taken over Bruce's company and turned it into Wayne Powers) AKA Blight a businessman turned radioactive skeleton after being treated for exposure to his own nerve gas with radiation
on top of the track information, I'll also post some trivia about the fight from the Death Battle Wiki (I won't post spoilers from future episodes, but I'll discuss previous ones including results) 1. This is the first episode where during the "FIGHT!" logo, there is a cinematic close up of the fighters on screen 2. This is the 11th Marvel vs DC themed episode (trust me, that number is only going to grow from here on in) 3. This is the 3rd Batman vs Spiderman themed episode, the 1st being Batman vs Spiderman and the 2nd being Venom vs Bane 3b. This is the first time the Batman character wins 4. This is the 6th Comic Book vs Cartoon fight, after Starscream vs Rainbow Dash, He-Man vs Lion-O, Beast vs Goliath, Deadpool vs Pinkie Pie, and Shredder vs Silver Samurai 5. During the fight, Terry throws a bolo onto Miguel which he then attacks him to get Miguel to the ground. During this, Miguel lands upon the exact same kind of car model used in the original Batman VS Spider-Man fight.
The Justice League did something to go in the future and that's when Batman beyond shows up or something like that and then tells the story of how Batman died and everyone else
You don't steal from Batman, he just lets you think you did.... Not really. People sneak into the cave pretty regularly actually. Perhaps most notably, Mirror Master snuck in for the Legion of Doom, and stole Batman's contingency plans for if any of the members of the Justice League went rogue. They would have succeeded if Bane had just killed Bruce, instead of burying him alive in a casket.
Well technically they're both Batman and Spider-Man from the future Terry McGinnis the Batman Beyond became the new Batman after Bruce Wayne retired and passed on the mantle to him As for Spider-Man 2099 he's Spider-Man from the future and he comes from the year 2099 but instead of Peter Parker being under the mask instead Spider-Man 2099 is a guy named Miguel O'Hara
Before this Death Battle first came out, i already knew about Batman Beyond because I watched the Batman Beyond TV Show as a kid and i also already knew about Spider-Man 2099 because of the two Spider-Man Games: Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and Spider-Man: Edge of Time.
Batman Beyond was a pretty popular animated series, and one that I watched. Spiderman 2099 for the casual viewer is probably not so well known, if you've only seen the movies for example you probably don't know him. Go a bit deeper into Spider-Man in general and you'll definitely get introduced to him.
Web Shooters aren't a product of new movies, that's how Spider-Man has always been. The Raimi films came up with organic webs, which removes a big part of what makes Peter Parker Spider-Man, him being a tech genius who made web shooters on a high schoolers budget. "Batman is human" Doesn't. Matter.
Batman Beyond is from the DCAU, I mean it with no exaggeration when I say that the DCAU (or DC Animated Universe) is one of the best comic adaptions in history, a shared Superhero universe throughout numerous different shows decades before the Marvel Cinematic Universe came into existence. It contains Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series, The New Batman Adventures, Batman Beyond, Static Shock, The Zeta Project, Justice League and Justice League Unlimited as it's main eight series. All of them are fantastic, and to many (myself included) the DCAU is the definitive and best version of the DC universe. I would honestly recommend all of them if you're looking for another set of shows to react to once MHA or another of those animes you react to comes to a finish. Batman: The Animated Series usually gets the most praise out of any of them, though to be honest I think the DCAU only gets better as it goes on, with Justice League Unlimited being overall the best. I mean it with no hyperbole when I say that after watching the full DCAU, those versions of the characters will probably be the definitive ones in your mind, when you think of Batman you'll think of Kevin Conroy, when you think of the Joker you'll think Mark Hamill, when you think of Lex Luthor you'll think Clancy Brown and so on and so forth. Heck, the DCAU even gave us entirely original characters that became big outside of it, most famously Harley Quinn for example originally was created for Batman: The Animated Series.
VA Fun facts: Terry’s VA is Stephen Fu, who previously voiced Dante in his DB Miguel’s VA is Todd Haberkorn, who previously voiced Tai & Daxter in their DBs, and is arguably most famous for his voice as Natsu in Fairy Tail Bruce’s VA is Kent Williams, the voice of Ghira Belladonna from RWBY & Mr. Compress from MHA. Also the music in this fight is called “Beyond 2099” by Therewolf Media Link to that: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2ChkKCltL-E.html
I've heard of Batman Beyond, but I've only ever seen Spider-man 2099 and just didn't know that was the name. Also when you're an old man in his upper 60s it's probably pretty easy to have somone steal from you.
"I just need to stick to the fastest character!" I wouldn't recommend that. I obviously won't spoil anything, but there are future Death Battles where one character was faster, but it wasn't enough to take the win. Keep evaluating everything, not just speed.
Terry may have stolen the batsuit, but it wasn't exactly a clean getaway. While the kid was trying to get his revenge, Bruce put the suit in lockdown in the middle of the fight. He eventually disengaged lockdown to avoid cleaning blood out of the suit, but you know Terry really didn't forget who was in charge after that, no matter how much attitude he may have shown. Also, Bruce didn't know about the plan to give him a son. Waller kept that a secret, and he only learned about it after Terry volunteered to donate Bruce his kidney and got his DNA tested for compatibility.
Speaking of Batman, next week Death Battle is returning from their mid season break starting with Batman vs Iron Man. Now before you say that's way to one sided, you're right, but to make this interesting both combatants will have access to all of their gear, meaning Batman shall have stuff like the Hellbat suit and Ironman shall have stuff like the Godkiller armor.
Nobody's going to be familiar with EVERY character. I mean heck they announced a new battle with two characters I know nothing whatsoever about (one of them is from Naruto and that's about the extent of my knowledge. I think the other one is from Bleach but I'm not sure). I look forward to delving into characters with a fresh slate!
Of course there was the show, but batman beyond the return of the joker movie was phenomenal. Of course so was batman the animated series and mask of the phantasm
Since your watching this now and I assume Naruto vs ichigo and Sephiroth vs Vergil afterwards, Death Battle started using these little black info tabs which are great for getting more info out in a shorter time frame. Feel free to pause so you can actually read them
Batman beyond was a surprisingly good show, a worthy successor (though not quite as good) to Batman the Animated Series, the Justice League, and justice league unlimited.
- Yea. I own the Batman Beyond series on Blu Ray. Spider Man 2099 I know from Internet comic critic Linkara and a costume from the Spiderman ps4 game. Fun fact "2099" is an entire book line of re-imagined versions of Marvel characters set the year - To be fair Bruce was an old man at this point and had been in retirement for several years. Also I think the 2nd Robin Jason Todd stole the wheels of the Batmobile
Well.. since you dont know about the story why not check out, Batman beyond Return of the Joker, theres a scene that takes place in Batman the animated series that people consider one of the best stories of Batman, and that parts only about 10-15 mins. Dont want to spoil anything.
Yes I have. I have the original Spider-Mann 2099 issue 1 and Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker is a childhood classic of mine. Also the web shooters are the cannon way Peter creates his webbing. That's why it was worth mentioning for Miguel
They hade a miscalculetion of the ice "boulder" feat If i remmember correctlly it should be around 70 tones not whatever they said Less powerfull then spider man 2099 but batman beyond would still win
The DC Animated Universe (DCAU; aka "Timmverse" or "Diniverse" after legendary Showrunner Bruce Timm and writer/artist Paul Dini) is a massively successful and critically acclaimed shared animated Universe that began with *Batman the Animated series* (1992-1995). Following it's success, a spin-off series *Superman the Animated Series* (1996-2000). BTAS rebooted into *The New Batman Adventures* (1997-1999; it's basically part 2 of BTAS). This reboot which included Batman, Robin, Batgirl, and Nightwing a revised artsyle to compliment STAS. Then finally, the sequel series called *Batman Beyond* (1999-2001) aired teeing up the rest of the DC Animated Universe. The rest: -*Static Shock* (2000-2004), -*The Zeta Project* (2001-2002), -*Justice League* (2001-2004), -*Justice League Unlimited* (2004-2006). They also include feature animated films such as: -*Batman Mask of the Phantasm* (1993), -*Batman & Mr Freeze: Sub Zero* (1998), -*Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker* (2000), -*Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman* (2003), -*Batman and Harley Quinn* (2017), -*Justice League vs the Fatal Five* (2019). The DCAU (mainly Bruce, Paul, or Dwayne McDuffie) is responsible for creating many popular DC characters, such as Harley Quinn (by P. Dini in BTAS) or Terry/Batman Beyond (by Tim & Dini in Batman Beyond), that would later be introduced int he comics. Similarly, older existing characters in the comics, such as Mr Freeze, were retroactively altered (retconned) to be be more in line with the superior DCAU version (specifically BTAS and the Subzero movie).

I understand why you wouldn’t like the idea of web shooters but as far as I know Miguel might be the only Spider-Man that canonically doesn’t use web-shooters. I know Peter, Ben, Miles and Mayday all used them. Might need to double check on Gwen but I think she uses them too.
