Great video Joe. Thanks for working with us on developing this design from the ground up, to make a product that people are really going to enjoy using. We appreciate all of the feedback from folks here in the comments and can't wait to roll out the finished version this summer!

Our sincere thanks to everyone who took the time to weigh in. We appreciate all the support we saw in the comments for our new splitter and Joe's highlights of the prototype's features in his video, but there were a couple of concerns that we saw mentioned a few times and we'd like to address them. First is the speed of the cycle time. This will improve significantly on the final production model with some modifications we're currently making, and will further be improved by the unique stroke length selector on the TimberOX Summit, which allows the user to select a 12", 18" or a full 26" stroke for the auto-return to stop at. The second issue was concern about the ease of access to the fuel tank. Currently, a simple funnel can be put into the fuel tank, which the nozzle of the gas can easily reach through the slot you can see that we made in the side panel. The final production model will be even easier and we'll be sure to demonstrate this function in future videos, but rest assured we're not going to produce a log splitter that's difficult to refuel. Finally, one of the unique features of the TimberOX design is its large flat work deck that extends out to include the folding tray table. Unlike typical I-beam splitters where the split piece opposite to the operator would fall on the ground and need to be retrieved or have another person catch it, with a TimberOX that piece simply sits there until you are ready to split it. Since the entire deck is level, this allows you to load up several log rounds to process and easily slide the split pieces around, rather than expend energy lifting them. However, this precludes us from adding a log saddle to catch large logs coming off of a log lift, which is needed to protect the operator. Since we cannot add that safety feature to the design without compromising the aforementioned benefits of the flat work deck, we're not going to include a log lift on this model. That said, if you're familiar with our forestry tools, you know that using a LogOX Hauler to lift log rounds has been scientifically proven to reduce back strain by 93% and arm strain by 76%, and we will be including the Hauler Holster as an option directly on the splitter. We will be offering another TimberOX model that features a log lift later this year, but the TimberOX Summit is the perfect splitter for anyone who wants a fast, ergonomic, and high-quality American-made log splitter, but doesn't need a log lift and/or is mainly focusing on processing resplits. Thanks again everyone, we look forward to showing you the production model later this summer! Definitely great ideas for all the reasons you mention. Hoping it’s as robust as your ideas. Would be great option if not further improving for the “home owner” that an alternative model be developed with a higher ton weight(?) for quicker more powerful cutting - even the guy in the yard like in your video would appreciate saving his back and a heavier gauge used for the table and post metal to withstand the tough work environment as well as doubling well as a sturdy onsite project work bench. You have Great ideas like the tool box! If you built it more sturdy they will come or at least make a Log Ox II ! Found this video looking for the Log Ox bar. Loved to see this American made & ingenuity succeed!

I always throughly enjoy these types of videos where you bring it full circle, Joe. Not sure if I want to call it a 'rant' but you speak truth, man. I don't firewood like most of your subscribers do or as much as I would like, but I own several LogOx products. I can say this: if any of you aren't sure about a purchase, buy what you are looking at. The 'Hauler' and the 'Woodsling' are possibly two of the best firewood inventions recent history. I would clear areas of woodlots with just a pickup and saws and without that LogOx Hauler I wouldn't have kept doing it. No joke. So, when this spitter hits the market, it will be just that; a hit. I have no doubts on that.

I'll have to think about that. The wheel barrow at the end made a huge difference. I HATE picking up a log twice or three times. I use hydraulkics,, and will in the future as I age. My best tech in my life was A. dropping the tree, B slicing into lengths (16 to 24 depending upon need/use) and then C splitting it where it lay with a 6 pound maul. As required by the species,, exactly where it lay on its side,, or stand upright and split it. Pick it up once to load the truck. Another tech I have used often,, standard drag behind,, set to vertical, right in the middle of the cut lengths. Lift little,, operate on my knees and just push, pull, wiggle, roll the pieces into place. Only split pieces are picked up, or thrown up into wheel barrow or pick up. I don't move if I don;t have to. Splitter up on a 36 inch high table, operated from one side only. I have to pick everything up to get it on the splitter. I surely am not going to just push it off the end so I have to pick it up again

Looks great, I like the big sorting table and is same height as the wedge so no bending down to grab. The only thing that would make me pause is not being able to work from either side. I am a stickler for that due to my setup. But pretty slick unit, really love that big table.

Good Morning Joe: It’s a nice unit. Looks like a great setup for resplits. The footprint is a great feature. Refueling it looks challenging. I don't think LogOX has defined the TimberOX that precisely but I agree that would be the appropriate target market. To do well in in this low end market, it will need to have a low end price and low end performance. I'm not sure they have decided what it is they want to accomplish. As I understand it, this will be their first splitter so they had approximately zero experience building splitters. I am interested to see what they will be able to do. I expect this model will turn out to be a failure. I don't know about the follow-up model.

What tonnage is this splitter? Also, small concern is the handle is on the table and potentially in a location that can get bent when throwing a log on the table. Also, this splitter isn't conducive to splitting a 100+ pound log since it has no vertical split option and many people can't lift a log that heavy (and not sure the table can handle that weight). Neat product but probably not for me.

I look at a lot of people that make a living (like you) splitting wood. Storing the finished product like you do is not the run of the mill splitter. The other split wood sellers just pile the cut wood in heaps. Not only does it look crap but it also takes up a lot more space. Other times I have noticed wood stored like your wood is stored is at home steeds.

Good morning Joe, nice machine and innovation. Can’t understand why the lever to engage the cylinder isn’t parallel to the cylinder? Using a box type splitting wedge will always produce lots of trash. Since your machine will only take smallish logs you should have a custom wedge built, 10 0r 12 way. Then you can split with one stroke which will double your production, reduce your waste and still produce a good product. Or not.
@garny3766
@garny3766 28 дней назад
Joe, I appreciate your passion and logox innovation, however I do see a few issues or modifications I’d make. 1. Control valve handle. One…it’s dedicated to one side operation and two, having it on same plane as splitter table is gonna get it bent/broken. 2. Why make wedge stationary? I don’t understand why these mfgs build these resplit machines with the same principles as push through multi wedge machines. My thinking is make wedge movable like a box store but maintain 4-5 sec cycle. Keep side tables large enough to hold resplits on both sides. Why “chase” the wood? Why not keep it in the same location and just move it in and out?Split fire has the right idea but too small side tables and the dual direction splitting is unnecessary when you have a fast cycle. Many mfgs already have the setup in their vertical splitters, now just lay them down and make side tables!!
@ohiowoodburner
@ohiowoodburner 28 дней назад
Nice observations Garny. I wouldn't characterize the TimberOX as simply a resplitter. The idea of push thru is for production so the next split is pushing the previous into the wb. For me when I'm resplitting I am holding onto the main piece so I am always bringing it back into the splitting zone. I do see what you are saying however. I also know that odd things happen when splitting but I believe the handle is in a reasonably safe spot. Only time will tell on that

I pay 1200.00 for a 12 logger (4'x4'x8') cord truck load of logs (ash or oak). I get an average of 2.5 face cords (4'x 8'X16") of firewood from each loggers cord after processing. In my area the best we can get is $80.00 per face cord delivered. 2.5 face cords x 12 = 30 face cords. 30 x $80.00 is $2400.00 minus $1200.00 for the logs leaves $1200.00 gross profit. What are your thoughts as far as profitability? Thank You. I appreciate your videos.
