@@crypto4423 It's a hold-over from old German immigrants. You'll hear it a bunch in Dutchy communities (Dutch in this case meaning Pennsylvania Dutch which is based on High German). I often here it when someone is trying to make a declaration they would say "go outten the lights now once" (would sound more like "gnaw vonce", but that's neither here nor there). But it is also just thrown into the middle of a sentence when speaking. It's a filler word like "doch" and "also" in modern German (or "um", "sotospeak", and a pet peeve of mine: "literally" in English) . Immigrants would have still been speaking High German at that time and not Modern German, so I don't exactly know what word they were trying to emulate with "once". Pennsylvania Dutch is a language that is mostly High German, but with some English twists that got worked in over time. That's where the "once" came from. It's a very cool language but it is dying rapidly as most young people don't take an interest in learning it from their parents or grandparents. Some of the little quirks of PA Dutch still stick around in everybody's speech like "once" so it's neat to hear. Sorry...that was a lot of text. @@LeganArabach we have it in Belgium (or at least more specifically in Brabant), passed on the french speaker by the Flemish so we sometime punctuate our sentences with "une fois". It make actual french people laugh ^^

I have watched every season of Letterkenny at least 3 times now, and I love the interactions between the Dycks and Wayne's group (Hicks/Shirt Tuckers) are among the funniest on the entire show. However, I have never been able to understand the "Once" that Noah says almost every other sentence. Could you please give some insight into what this means and why he says it? .I truly appreciate any reply. Thank you! Now... Pitter Patter!😂

@@Will-fk2dk honestly I don't know the reason but straight up they say it after asking for something or at the end of a sentence when pissed off "Pass me that coke there once" Is something I would hear or "Damn It would you use your ears once" "You sure shit fucked up this here once" I think it is a pickup from the low German Mennonites dialect speak. My cousins on her side that did not grow up speaking it did not say it as often but sometimes even I find I'll say it at the end of some statements or requests.

Deutschland is Germany. Deutsch is their language. Pennsylvania Dutch is a misnomer.
