Have you tried our expanding mandrels yet? 

They are only $25 for a pair. They are carbon fiber nylon making them very strong and acetone resistant. Metal mandrels are definitely better, but these work great for someone just trying to find some helpful tools without spending a lot of money.

@Dreamwood Rings in the video you called them plastic, plastic and carbon fiber are vastly different. I definitely know my CF . Which one is it?
